I finally got Flash Player to work

Please forgive me for starting a new thread but I thought this might be helpful to the various people (using different threads) who've reported installation problems.
I'm running 64-bit Windows7 with the 64-bit version of IE9.  After downloading Flash Player version 11.3.300.268 I could not get any videos to play and the Adobe screen that showed the FP version didn't show anything, making it look like it wasn't installed (even though it was based on the Control Panel.)  I tried all the Uninstall/Install suggestions people on other threads listed with no luck.
What finally worked for me was "Enabling" the "Shockwave Flash Object" add-on listed under IE9's Tools>Manage Add-Ons menu.  I had disabled and, I think, uninstalled Shockwave a few days ago since I was getting constant warnings about questionable content.  I don't totally understand the reason for the Shockwave module but since I'm back being able to view videos, I'm not going to care.  (I don't see Shockwave in the list of installed programs in the Control Panel.)  I would suggest to people to try combinations of downloading Shockwave disabling it under add-ons, uninstalling it, un- then reinstalling FP, and then enabling the add-on, if it's there.
One curious thing I'm seeing - when I open the Windows Control Panel I see "Flash Player (32-bit)" which led me down a number of bad paths, since as I said above, I'm running 64-bit stuff.
Good luck to everybody who can't get this working.  I feel for you all because I'spent many hours over the last couple of days trying different combinations of fixes.  I'm not much of a techie and I know the above is convoluted, so YMMV.

I tried to use your handy solution-but when I lookin that designated place, there is no Shockwave Flash Object there to enable. HELP!!!!!

  • Why does Flash player not work on samsung galaxy tablets?

Hello, I am wondering why they do not have flash player for samsung galaxy tab 3? I just recently got the 8.0 sized one and it has great features, but no flash player? To have an up to date electronic device, and older electronic devices carry it,but you won't put it on new devices? Is there a way to get it to work or download it? It has stopped me from viewing many different things on my tablet unfortunately and this may cause me to return it.

Android dropped all support for Flash last year (June 2012).
Going back to 2006, when Apple released the first iPhone and iOS 1, Steve Jobs was insistent that it be made incompatible with Flash Player because (in his words) playing Flash content is processor consumptive and kills batteries, and well as shortening battery life in mobile devices. Android came along a little while later, but their reason for droppiong Flash last year was the same.
Adobe continued developing "security updates" for the Flash Player that worked with older versions of Android, but even that ended in September of this year. Adobe will not continue development of a product for an incompatible format.
Android recommends either "Dolphin" or "Puffin" browser from the GooglePlay store (both are free). They use "server side" technology to play Flash content without taxing your tablet or phone's processor.

  • Flash player not working in Internet Explorer 10 Windows 8

Flash player is working on Google Chrome, but whenever I use IE to access a site that uses flash, IE tells me I do not have flash and asks me if I want to install it. If I choose yes, then IE will try to download flash player, and when it finishes downloading, it just tells me IE already has the latest version of flash player included. When I go to adobe.com, the version check box is just grey. However, interestingly enough, if I go to youtube home page, the error message comes up on the page saying I need to download flash player, but if I click on a video, it will go to that page, the error message will show for a second then dissappears, and the video will start playing.
I followed the self check procedure described on the Adobe site already, and it all checks out. I wasn't able to find any solution or even anyone with the same kinda problem through google either.
    Any one got any ideas?

  • Is there a flash player that works on the ipad

is there a flash player that works on the ipad

    Re: Flash player for Ipad
Aug 14, 2011 2:22 AM (in response to phaisto)
Folks, here's the sad truth, according to Engadget:
"After nearly 4 years of the iOS platform, Adobe is still having difficulty being able to get Flash Player on Apple’s mobile platform. Many sided with Adobe on this one a couple of years ago calling this exclusion unreasonable, but the latest failures for Android Honeycomb to deliver decent Flash performance justifies Apple's decision. Even the Frash hacks bogged down the 1st generation iPad and the PlayBook had problems bring Flash to their Blackberry Tablet."
Some months ago, before I really researched this issue, I was determined to "get around Steve Jobs obvious hidden personal and business greed agendas" and run Flash on a tablet. So I bought an ASUS Transformer Tablet just to be able to run flash (a $400 "app")! OK, just a wee bit over the top. But, I can now personally testify to the surprisingly disappointing performance of Flash on Android.
Based on that confirmation, and on numerous reports from those running Flash on jailbroken iPads, either Adobe has lost all of it top notch programmers to Google, Facebook, -- and likely even Apple! -- or it never has been serious about porting Flash to iOS (I suppose this could have been intentional, thinking that the absence of Flash would do serious harm to the platform once folks found out).
But whatever. I am finally over my Flash of "brilliance" and resigned to just skip over the web sites that require Flash, and wait till I am at my iMac or PC to do those that are really necessary. And, despite that the ASUS Tablet does technically run Flash, it does it so poorly that I preferred to use my Mac or PC.
I gave the minty new ASUS Tablet which is otherwise a nicely done, but still "work in progress" (unlike my Android phone) to my med school daughter. She loves it -- and now calls me all the time to talk, usually about how to get stuff to work on it (but any excuse to talk to her is good by me ;-).

  • Flash Player only works for the account that downloaded it

I downloaded flash player and did not specify any special preferences, however, it doesn't work for the 2 other accounts on the computer.  It only runs for the Administrator account from which i downloaded it. I'm running XP professional. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

    hi, i had already deleted cookies, temp internet files, etc;
    i only have the IE pop up blocker and blocking level set at Medium;
it's the latest version of FP 10.0.45.2.
I installed this version a couple of weeks ago and it worked ok for all accounts (the other 2 accounts are not admin) for a week. Then, it stopped working for all accounts, i reinstalled it (some trial and error involved), then when it finally reinstalled, only works for the one account. i just tried to reinstall from one of the other accounts and error mssg said  "failed to register"

Hi ol, I would go to Tools, click on Internet Options and clear the Temp files. Delete Cookies, Delete Files, including the off line content. I would do this using all accounts. Also check the history files while you are there and delete those also unless you have done so recently.
What version of Flash Player do you have Installed?
Do you use any adblock or pop up blocker software?
    Thanks,

  • Adobe Flash Player wont work after all steps taken, what haven't I done to make it work?

I tried to play a game I love & I got this message: "To view this page ensure that Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.0 or greater is installed" So I went to your site to update my flash player & hit the "Test Flash Player" button & it came up
like this^^. I went to the suggestions your site provided & went to Manage add-ons to look for Shockwave Flash Object to enable it:
You can see that it is enabled by this picture I have provided. So it also asks me to make sure that ActiveX isn't clicked on & so I did:
As you can see it's turned off & I even tried it the other way where it has the spot checked & it still wont play. So I decided to see if I could reinstall it onto my computer & so in turn I got this message:
That is the message I got even after trying to delete Flash Player & reinstalling it. Now you can see my frustration with all this. Adobe Flash Player wont work after all steps taken, what haven't I done to make it work? I have a Windows 8.1 Pro, I use Internet Explorer which has the latest version on it, which is Windows Explorer 11 Version: 11.0.9600.17498 & I was also under the understanding that I also had the latest version of Adobe Flash Player on this computer as well. Can someone tell me what to do??

First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative.

  • Flash player not working after doing the update

I got an update on facebook saying that I needed to update my flash player. so I did, and now it keep saying that I need to update when It already shows that it is the updated version. now I cannot do anything that involves using flash, no facebook or online games or utube. please anyone if you can help me figure this out.

Recently, my games on Facebook and Youtube stopped working and prompted me to upgrade my flash player.
It included the link to Adobe, as do all the sites that require it.
So, I did. It says install successful, but it is not.
    I use Safari on a Mac 10.5.8.
The flash player is still working on FireFox.
I tried many things so far and it is still down on Safari.
I tried upgrading from the internet.
I tried rebooting a flash player from my Creative Suite 4... that actually told me my disc 2 was blank during install!
I uninstalled flash player and reinstalled many times. No go.
I uninstalled my Flash program and nearly lost it!!
It would not reinstall from my CS4 discs.
A friend helped me and I am pretty sure the Flash maker is up again. I see the icons are back in place in the applications folder, but i did not try running it yet.
He thought the flash player was working again when he returned my computer, but it is still not working in Safari.
I tried downloading and reinstalling the flash player again from Adobe, yes..the correct version for Intel based Mac.
He ran first aid repair a few times.
There was a lot of things that got fixed.
I am in need of more help.
    anyone figure this out?
    please!

  • How I got Flash Player 9 fixed

I got Flash Player 9 fixed after trying all kinds of things
    in these posts..
I had the problem where I would see the quote mark " instated
of the content at the download installation page
I'm running Windows XP media edition
Here is what I did to get it working on my system.
I'm not sure if each of these steps are essential
but this is what I did that worked for me.
It's a combination of things I found in different forums.
    1. I used the uninstaller at Adobe's Web site following the
    instructions given here:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157
    2. I went to this link and installed the latest FlashPlayer
version 9 from Adobe's web site here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
I tested it and it failed to work at this point.
    3. I downloaded and ran this installer
"install_flash_player_active_x.msi" save it you'll need to run it
    twice
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_playe r_active_x.msi
running this will close all browser windows so save this link
    or print this out first.
when I ran this I got an error message it said something
about Flash9.ocx failed to install or register.
so I did a search for it and found it in
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\flash I copied it and pasted it to
    C:\WINDOWS\system32
I tested it and it failed to work at this point.
    4. I opened regedit............ click start.. click run..
    type in regedit.. click OK
    Then went to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\
and went down the list to each of the following and for each
one I allowed full control to administrator
to do this locate it, right click on it, left click
permissions, make sure administrators in highlighted,
put a check in the box under Allow for full control, choose
    apply then choose OK.
I read in the forum that some of these might not be there no
    worries if they are not.

    {D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000}\InprocServer32
I tested it and it failed to work at this point.
    5. I ran "install_flash_player_active_x.msi" again and this
time it gave me an option to Repair or Fix
a previous installation and I chose that. It ran fine with no
    error message.
I ran regedit again and checked to see if it changed the
permissions and found a couple of them had
changed and so I set them back again.
Then I tested it and it worked fine!!!
Now I'm happy I can play backgammon on Windows Live Messenger
    with my friends...

I might add more info about the original problem.
So you can tell if it's the problem your lookin for a fix for
Whenever I installed FP9 it was as if I had not done it.
I would see the quote mark instead of the content.
the next time I would Go to a site that required it
it would just ask me to install it again
I could find it in Add Remove programs I could not un install
    it from there
I needed the un installer program to do so.
I spent a lot of time trying till I got it fixed I hope this
    helps someone

  • The new version of Adobe Flash Player not working.

The new version of Adobe Flash Player not working.
She plants the clock to all videos , advertisements and links. I tried to uninstall and reinstall everything but the result remains unchanged. I am using Windows 8.1 and Mozilla Firefox. I need your help please .
I'm sorry if i did errors of spelling because I used google translation. I 'm french .

I finally figured it out. Flash Player had not installed. I had to de-activate Active-X thru the safety tab on the menu bar and then download the Adobe Flash Player and now it's working. I re-activated Active X after I finished installing Flash,. Hope fully everything will keep working fine!

  • Adone flash player not working after upgrade

I have Windows Vista, but using IE 8, 32 bit, I was keep on getting upgrade pop ups, got sick of it and upgrade to new version 11, since than flash player is not working. In youtube, just black screen.
    I unistall through adobe website.
    restart
    close all all browsers.
    install again, no luck.
Active X is enable in IE.
internet options, security level is Medium.
In manage add ons, shockwave flash object is there and enable, shockwave Activex is there and enable, Java plug ins are enable.
remove Firefox, and tried all steps
    C:\windows\system  remove flash folder
Start, Explore, remove flash folder from Adobe and Macromdedia
    delete, restart, install, no luck
    delete, restart, install 10.3
    no luck
also I save adobe flash player 11 and 10.3 on desktop and run from there.
(One thing I did notice that I open IE 32 bit to install, when I try to unistall from adobe site for 32 bit, it tells me to use 64 bit unistall, when I use 64 bit, it will unistall the adobe player, but if I check IE 64 bit, there is no shockwave flash object and shockwave ActiveX control, but they do exit under IE 32 bit after installing)
Who is the genious, who can guide me in the right direction. I am missing one step, somewhere.
At this point I do not care about flash player 11, I just want flash player to work, even 10.3.
also CPU P8400 @ 2.27GHZ, do I need better processor to run 11?
    ram 4gb

Vista is 64 bit, IE is 32 and 64, uptil now, I was using 32 bit.
Last night I tried to download flahplayer for 64bit flash player from your link in the FAQ, since it will add flashplayer for both 32 and 64bit, also did not work, any advise will be appreciated.

  • Linux - after update to firefox 5 64-bit flash player stopped working

After updating firefox 5 (from stable repo) the flash player stopped working.
I have had installed the adobe flash player square (64 bit) - by following http://queleimporta.com/en/finally-adobe-releases-native-64-bit-flash-10-for-linux/ ...
The .so library is still on its place(/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so), though firefox does not seem to have flash player installed.
before update to firefox 5 it worked
    system is Xubuntu 10.04

Finally I've found out that it's possible to install flash from lucid repositories (which works... named 'flashplugin installer')... I've never noticed that before... So sorry for asking stupid question and thanks to anyone who spend some time even only by reading this thread.
//EDIT: so question 2 - how to tag the topic as solved? :)

  • Flash player stopped working, followed threads, has not helped, any suggestions??

    HI,
Im using vista home basic,on a note book i got last year. the flash player was working fine until last week, at that time i updated to ie 8 and flash 10.
The player hasnt worked since. The playback is very choppy, just a series of fotos realy. The settings dont respond. Also it freezes the page into wich it is embedded.and the rest of the system to a lesser extent.  ihave followed the instructions about reinstalling and using the uninstaller, ensuring that i reboot inbetween. no difference. its a 32bitoperating system with 1gb of ram. I understand that flash wont work in  64bit ie, ive looked under the help on ie and as it doesnt mention that its 64 i understand that means it must be 32? ,,,,I realy hope you can help!!!  going off on a bit of a tangent,,, but this 'failure' of flash is realy quite scary! it makes you realise just how entrenched it is in every day life! its like the end of civilisation! no facebook,,,no utube, no online news!!! helllllllllp!

    hey thanks for reply,
    Deep breath!!!
Ok these are the files that are in the flash folder.
    flash10e.ocx
    flashuntil 10e
    install
    uninstall active x
I opened the manage add ons, there is no mention of flash at all.
I deleted all my add on tool bars.
I did install firefox, hence all this trouble. when i decided to go back to ie. and reinstalled it,,,thats when all problems started.
    Thanks
