What can I do?
Hello,
Do you know if you have this packages with earlier versions?
When this happen the installer only check for the version that contain in the oraparam.ini. But if you are trust that you have all the packages only in newer versions, you can try this.
runInstaller -ignoresysprereqs
It will make the same verification, and find same problems, but with this flag it will jump to the next part and continue installing. Try to be careful of this flag because if you miss one of the prerequisits from documentation, you may have a highly option to fail in the configuration assitants or find some erroneus behavior of the App.
Regards.

Hello,
I have installed the infrastructure successfully but when I install the Middle Tier (in it's separate home) the installer gets up to 88% and then displays the error:
Error in invoking target 'proxy_install runm_install server_install cgi_install cli_install conv_install qv_install' of makefile '/opt/oracle/OraHome_as101202_mt/reports/lib/ins_reports.mk'. See '/opt/oracle/oraInventory/logs/installActions2008-02-06_10-32-46AM.log' for details.
Looking in the log I see:

The OS is SUSE 10.3. I know it's not certified.
It looks to me that the make utility does not know how to handle the '-nsl' option.
Is there a workaround for this error?
I hope some one has an idea as I have searched the forums and google without much success.
Thanks in advance,
JonThanks for the tip.
Correct me if I am wrong but you have set up SLED SP1 connecting to an OS like (RHEL 4/OEL 4,SuSE 9) using VMWare Server. What OS is SLED?
I chose SUSE 10.3 as its free and I want to set up apps server for purely training purposes. Do you know of a free linux OS that is certified to run AS 10g 10.1.2.0.2?
Thanks

Error while installing Oracle 10g on Solaris 9 x86
Hi all,
I got several error after install oracle 10g. After I run the root.sh. It prompt :
Starting Oracle CSS service under init(1M)
Expecting the CRS daemons to be up within 120 seconds.
Giving up: Oracle CSS stack appears NOT to be running.
and when I start sqlplus, it prompt:
ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
Intel SVR4 UNIX Error: 2: No such file or directory
and following the error message prompt every minutes.
"oracle: (Oracle CSSD will be run out of init)"
"root: Failure in CSS initialization opening OCR."
I don't think reinstall oracle will solve my problem if I don't figure out what going wrong. Could anyone tell me what I need to do? Thanks very much for helping.
Cheers,
AlexCheck also if the t-bit is set:
[root@vtl1g121 ~]# ls -dl /tmp
drwxrwxrwt 11 root root 4096 Apr 10 11:44 /tmp
This is needed to mark the filesystem/directory as temporary.
Sometimes this can cause such problems also
Command: chmod +t /tmp -

Problem Installing OAS 10g Infrastructure on WinXP
When installing OAS 10g Infrastructure on my WinXP Laptop the OPMN configuration assistant fails while starting the apache http server, because apache.exe fails (apache.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close...). Starting the apache http server using 'dcmctl start -ct ohs' results in the same behaviour. This is reproduceable. I know that this kind of installation in not supported. Any idea what the reason could be for this ?

Error in Installing Oracle 10g Express Edition Universal on WIndows2003
While Installing Oracle 10g XE Universal On WIndows 2003 Server Standard Edition(Which is a standalone Machine). I got an following Error:
Error No: 0x80040707
Error Description: DLL Function Call Crashed: GetHostnameDll.getHostname.
Plz find some solution for the above problem.Hi
Here's the resolution that can work for you:
Disable the "Print Spooler" service before running the installer.
1.Open Control Panel: Start --> Settings --> Control Panel
2.Double-click "Services"
3.On the list of NT Services, right-click "Print Spooler"
4.Select "Stop"
5.Select "Properties"
6.Under Startup Type, select "manual" or "disabled"
7.Reboot your NT Server
8.After rebooting, verify that the Print Spooler is still "stopped".
9.Delete Program Files\Common Files\Installshield\Engine folder
10.Re-run the installer.
11.After installation, re-set the Print Spooler service to Startup type "Automatic" and start the service.
Also, have a look at the installshield page: http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108167

Error while installing developer 10g on linux suse 10.0
Hi All,
This error appears while installing developer 10g on linux suse 10.0
http://img179.imageshack.us/my.php?image=errorso9.pngTry locate (using find command for example) the libjvm.so file (I assume that is located somewhere under $ORACLE_HOME (probably jdk or jre directory)). If you locate the path where this library resides, try to add that path to $LD_LIBRARY_PATH enviroment variable.
Use copy&paste method (for error message) rather than link to image.
It is much quicker operation and it may help to other people because they be able to find this thread via search engine. -

DISPLAY not set. Please set the DISPLAY and try again.
Depending on the Unix Shell, you can use one of the following commands as examples to set the DISPLAY environment variable:
- For csh: % setenv DISPLAY 192.168.1.128:0.0
- For sh, ksh and bash: $ DISPLAY=192.168.1.128:0.0; export DISPLAY
Use the following command to see what shell is being used:
echo $SHELL
Use the following command to view the current DISPLAY environment variable setting:
echo $DISPLAY
- Make sure that client users are authorized to connect to the X Server.
To enable client users to access the X Server, open an xterm, dtterm or xconsole as the user that started the session and type the following command:
% xhost +
To test that the DISPLAY environment variable is set correctly, run a X11 based program that comes with the native operating system such as 'xclock':
% <full path to xclock.. see below>
If you are not able to run xclock successfully, please refer to your PC-X Server or OS vendor for further assistance.
Typical path for xclock: /usr/X11R6/bin/xclock
[oracle@staging database]$ echo $SHELL
/bin/bash

Edited by: satish.ygl on Oct 30, 2012 7:49 PMyou must log onto the DB Server as below (or functional equivalent)
ssh -X oracle@DB_Server
& the first & only command after logging onto the DB Server should be as below
xclock
If/when xclock fails, then OUI will fail. -

TrungI don't know much about the 10g Releases yet but I had the same error with 9.0.2.3. The problem is that OID isn't available when it needs to be.
When you get the error, start OID using the command line then try running the config assistant again.
Hope this helps

Gives ORA-12560: TNS: protocol adapter error when installing oracle 10g
I tried to install oracle 10g r2 in server 2008. but it gives ORA-12560: TNS: protocol adapter error when installing. how I can fix this issue??? please help me ASAP. because its urgent.
thanks in advance.
chamaraWelcome to the forums !
Pl indicate which version of 10g you are installing and on which version of Win 2008. Neither 10gR1 nor 10gR2 are certified to be installed on Win 2008 R1, AFAIK.
For 10gR2, only 10.2.0.5 is certified for Win 2008 R2 - see MOS Doc 1173433.1 (How to Install Oracle 10.2.0.5 on MS Windows 7 / Windows 2008R2)
Also see MOS Doc 740926.1 (Where can I find the Database / Client software to download for Microsoft Vista, or Windows 2008R1?).
Both 10gR1 and 10gR2 are now in extended support - is there a reason you are not using 11gR2 ?

An error has occurred!
Error finding target orcl from the repository. The target does not exist or you may not have the access to the target.
I received the above errors after following a tutorial to install EM 10g for a class I'm starting (very new to Oracle and dbase management). They appeared in the Database Control window. Everything was fine until I reached this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks!
DMake sure your database is started, as well as the listener. Verify database is registered at the listener. Once you made sure your networking environment works properly retry. If problem persists it means at some point during the configuration you missed some parameters or enabled some features you shouldn't at this time.
In case you have to rebuild and reconfigure your EM environment, use this sequence of commands:
set oracle_sid=YourInstanceName
emctl stop dbconsole
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db
emca -repos recreate
emca -config dbcontrol db
