You go to https://iforgot.apple.com/appleid if you don't remember the ID.
If you know the ID but not the password, you go to https://iforgot.apple.com and reset it.
If you can't do either of those, you call Apple and speak to someone in account security. -

You're using the wrong Apple ID. You DID have an iCloud account set up on it and Find my iPhone was active on the phone using that account.
If you've forgotten what your iCloud account ID is (it should give you a clue when you try to activate it) you can go to https://iforgot.apple.com and try to recover it. Otherwise, you will have to take the phone and the original proof of purchase to Apple to prove that you are the original purchaser. They may be able to re-set it for you.
Activation lock is an anti-theft feature designed to make the phone useless without the proper credentials.

Last week I changed my Apple ID. I was having some problems with getting "incorrect ID or password" message. sometimes it would accept my info and sometimes it wouldn't. I got tired with messing with it and decided to just create a new Apple ID and password. The new ID has worked ok, but my icloud account still comes up with my old ID. I tried to change that but couldn't without signing in with the old ID. I did several times but I always get the message "incorrect Apple ID and password". I tried using other password but nothing worked. Now I'm not sure what the password is. I have asked for a password reset to be sent to me but nothing comes ( using my regular email ). I have tried using the secret questions and I get them all correct except my birthday doesn't jive with what they say. I really need some ideas. My icloud account is essentially locked to me and isn't backing up my stuff. that's about all I can think of to tell you.
Hunter of Sock Monsters thanks...I did follow your advise. I went to the iforgot site and tried answering the secret questions twice. I got the "wrong answer", so the next time I asked for an email authentication. I am still waiting. I don't know what the usual time for waiting normally is. I am still waiting for an email reply from three days ago. I'm not going to hold my breath. My ipad is out of warranty but I may have to beg for help from support? I'll wait awhile longer. Maybe there is another thing someone could come up with. I appreciate your fast reply Hunter.

This is a problem I have seen posted before but I have yet to find an answer for this. I am on Windows 7 and trying to access my iCloud using the iCloud control pannel for Windows download. My Apple ID and password are correct, caps lock is not on. I have reinstaled iCloud, i have restarted winsock in cmd, I have restared Bonjour, I have done everything suggested and still it is not working. Does anyone please have an answer or point me in the correct direction please?

I have an active existing iTunes store account and use the same Apple ID for signing into my iTunes Connect Account that distributes Apps.
I have created some books using the iBook author and in order to distribute content on the iBookstore I have been told electronically that I need a new Apple ID and password that is different to iTunes store account which I have already activated and completed contracts, tax information and bank information valid until 2013?
I want to create a Paid Books Account using the same email address, tax information and bank information. This has been most frustrating, as I cannot get passed the sign in section and there is no contact person I can speak to. I was of the understanding the iTunes connect account and the Developer programs which I paid good money for is all what I needed to be paid for selling iBooks on the iBookstore???
I only have one email address and wish to also use it for the Paid Books Account. I have books ready to be exported and published.
I am also having trouble locating and downloading iTunes Producer. I understand I need to have the Paid Books Account active to access the iTunes Producer program. Please help.

If the apps that are on your son's iPad were purchased under his Dad's Apple ID, then signing your Apple ID onto the iPad will not help you with updating those apps.
Also, if the iPad was sync'd with his Dad's iTunes library, then hooking it up to your computer/iTunes library, will require you to reset the iPad, and everything that was loaded under the other Library and Apple ID will be wiped out.
Can you provide a little more info about what was set up under which Apple ID and what iTunes library the iPad was sync'd with?

I have an Ipad My apple ID and password works for Ibooks and Icloud but when I try to get into the app store it doesn't show my entire email address on the account. When I try to get into the app store it tells me my password is incorrect. How can I correct this? I have been emailing support but so far they have been no help
Open the App Store app, go to the Featured pane, swipe to the bottom, tap the Apple ID and sign out. Tap again and sign in with the Apple ID of your choosing.

I can't access my email. I have joined iCloud. When I press mail I get a series of providers. I click iCloud. It asks for my Apple id and password. I provide these to be told this account already exists and I can get no further. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, I'm a pc user and am trying to access an ical via the icloud. This ical houses information about work etc and it is quite important that I can gain access to it. To that end I have created an apple id and password and downloaded the icloud for the pc. However , when I get to the sign in page and use my apple id, I get a message to the effect that my apple id is ok, but its no good for an icloud account/ or I dont have an icloud account. I've trawled thru lots of help pages and nothing points me in the right direction. I've been on this for over 3 hours today and getting nowhere....Can somebody please help, I'm starting to lose the will to live over this

WiltshireYou must create the account using an Apple device, a Mac (Lion or greater) or an IOS device (IOS5 or greater). Having done that you will be able to sign in from your Windows machine.
FYI, iCal is an application that can display calendars from iCloud (and others) it is not a calendar itself, merely a calendar client. In Windows Outlook is the calendar client. -
