I for one love iMovie '08

I love the new iMovie. I know a lot of veteran users have issues with it but I feel that for an average consumer user, the new app is fantastic. It is excellent for making movies relatively quickly without having to think too much. Love the integrated media manager so that I can now add/remove clips very easily. Love the new scrub interface which allows me to very quickly see which parts of a clip that I want.
I know if you want very precise editing with a frame-by-frame accuracy, this may not be the tool but for you but for me it is good enough and I suspect this will be the case for a lot of other consumers too.

I think the criticizms posted in this forum do not contest the opinion of those, who are in fact happy with the new version. You can surely make good looking movies if the program fulfills your needs. No question.
But: Hardly ever did a company present an upgrade which would not even allow you to correctly display documents created in earlier versiond, not to speak of stripping the program of former capabilities.
To me, iMovie 08 ist ok for quick compilations, but definitely not for projects I have to work on, options are too limited.

How to stop update notification for one app (iMovie) that I do not want to update. I do not want iMovie 10 taking up nearly 3 gb on my hard disc. iMovie 9 is just fine and only takes up 1.5 gb. But I get notifications to update and don't know how to turn it off. I've gone into the Purchases tab of the App store and deleted it. I don't want to turn off Update notifications (which is irrelevant in any case because I see no option to do that in Notifications system preference pane). I just don't want to be bugged about iMovie updates. The only option I'm given is to postpone the next reminder until the next morning. -- Franklin

I know we need to set FND:View Object Fetch Size value for the warning Query has exceede 300 rows.....">But in my case everything is fine.
In one page iam getting this warniing and in another page for the same LOV iam not getting.The only difference for both LOVs Inou fileds is the one which is raising warning has ToolTip Message and the other dont have.Iam wondering why iam getting this warning only in one page and not for other LOVs and not in other pages.Can any one please help me by giving clue.

I have an Iphone 5 and Love it. Except for one thing; I recently changed from ymail email account to a gmail account. I updated it on the
Apple/ Itunes site and it does accept the change. I can still access the APP store and Itunes.
However, sometimes I get a pop up box from Apple showing the old email address and asking me to sign in..... I hit cancel and move on.   But, now Icloud keeps popping up promting me to sign in and it shows the old email which I don't have anymore.... I tried signing in with the old info to clear it off screen of my phone but, it doesn't allow and I hit cancel and it goes away. only to appear later again.... This is so frustrating and annoying.    Is there any way to get the Icloud to update the email address with my Apple ID log in info--without having to delete stuff or lose things on my phone?

I recently purchased the new nano (7th generation) and I love it except for one issue. On my old 2nd generation nano, when I played podcasts, it would play podcasts one at a time. So if I had 20 episodes of a podcast on the device, it would stop at the end of each one.
With the new nano, I can select and play a podcast, but when it’s over, it goes straight to the next one without prompting. It keeps on playing all of the episodes of any podcast until you stop it manually. Setting the repeat function differently does not prevent episodes from being played automatically.
This can be very irritating when I only want to listen to one podcast. I’ve often fallen asleep listening to one episode of a podcast, only to be woken up hours later by the iPod working its way through all subsequent episodes. It is also annoying that any podcast which has started automatically in this way is marked as ‘played’ – even if you stop it within a few seconds. This makes it hard to keep track of what you have actually listened to.
Is there any way to set the iPod to play all the podcasts individually? I have read the User Guide from cover to cover, and can’t find a way of doing this.

I don't like the solutions I saw there and I am not sure they will work.

Nobody replied so I called Apple. They seemed to think they could fix the problem but I had to agree to pay about $20 first. I told them to put it down as a complaint. I only want to use the software I bought. I can't see that it is my fault it is malfunctioning. I guess I will have to pay. It doesn't seem right.

All iMovie projects opening, except for one

I am having trouble opening one particular iMovie project--while all my other projects are opening just fine.
I have the latest version of iMovie HD (6.0.3), and am working on a mirror-front G4 with plenty of Ram and working space (500gb hard drive with 270gb of usable space, 1.5gb of Ram). I have trashed the .plist in preferences and rebuilt permissions--still won't open.
Without having to start from scratch, is there a way to salvage what I have done so far?

When you say it won't open, what do you mean?
Does the program crash, or does it give you a
dialogue box with information as to why?
Also, did you move the project from another disk?
Did you check permissions on the iMovie file?
When I go to open it, I double-click on the iMovie project icon--it starts to open. Then it asks me if I want to view the trash or ignore the trash. I click on either of those options--then the "rainbow candy" cursor just sits there and spins until iMovie quits.
It just crashes or quits with no dialogue.
Did not move it from it origin.
How do you check permissions on a specific file? In the "get info" box? Have not done that.

Forward Email for one account to another domain?

I apologize if this is a repeat question, but I am still having problems setting this up. Snow Lep used to have the ability to forward email for a user to another location. I host my own domain with multiple users. I want all mail sent to one of those users, in my domain, to go to another email address outside my dowmain. Basiclly to do whatever process they "Forward mail" option in old Workgroup Manger, for a user.
I looked into the "Virtual Domain" stuff for postfix, and forwarding there, but from what I can understand, thats for Virtual Domains, not for ones that your actually hosting. i.e. Can't have domain.com in Mydestinations AND Virtual file.
So how do I acomplish this?

Lets get down to business on this problem that my town is facing. One, the Verizon corporate store in Escanaba, Mi is closing? For the love of god why are you guys doing this? I have had a great experience in dealing with Verizon over the years from helping me with my phone problems to just being very helpful when I need a new product upgrade. The other affiliate store in my area (That will remain nameless) that are not knowledgeable as those folks at the corporate store. One time I went to an affiliate store to edge up and that was a complete nightmare and a half. I asked for a phone (HTC One M8 Windows) that I wanted and what did these guys do? They sold me the same exact model but it was the Androd version! The saleswoman (Which was the store manager) told me you can make this into a windows version (Which is a big NO-NO because that would void my warranty for Jail-breaking!) and messed up my contract to the point i couldn't (also breaking contract) edge up for 30 days! After fixing this at the Escanaba corporate store to the actual phone after that mess up when I didn't want the Android Phone! So, if you want to keep your loyal customers like myself that is a military veteran that owns and manage a Computer Company Also my other relatives that own trucking companies and insurance agencies. I would suggest that you please reconsider this disastrous move of closing the best Wireless Store in my area.

How to keep the field value in the forms for one week

I have an application that when the user logs on to it , it shows all the documents that are in the current dept.
the form has the following fields:
document no
sent date
assigned to
dep_LOV
and a check box
if a user clicks the check box and assignes the document to another dept by cliking the LOv then the assigned to field should be populated with the new value and the sent date should be today's date(sysdate). the requirment is that once the user assignes the documnet to certain depts (for example sales dept) the assigned to field and the sent date should show up in the form for one week and the user should be able to see that data in the form the next time she /he logs onto the application. the one week time is to make sure the documcnt has reached the assigned dept. after one week from today's date the updated assigned_to field and the document no should not display on the form. During the one week if the user logs on to the form again that particular document and the assigned to and sent to fields shoould be grayed out and shhould not be updatable. I will greatly appreciate any suggetion as of what to do to solve this problem. it is urgent. Pleade help

I used the NVL function so your select will show rows where sent_date is null OR sent_date has a value that is within 7 days prior to the current date.
What is the field :docs.assigned_to used for? If you want to include ONLY rows that are assigned to a particular person, then your where clause might be:

and you should have a control block with the assigned_to field in it, where the user can enter a value before querying the DOCS block.

Best practice for exporting from iMovie '08 to iDVD

I am looking to find out what is the best practice for exporting from iMovie '08 to iDVD. I have read the other postings that give the basic howto (export to Media Browser then select the video in iDVD). However, my question is a little more technical. I have 1080i HD projects. I am interested in burning them to DVD in the best possible quality. What setting should I be using when I publish to Media Browser?
I am wondering about quality loss due to more than one conversion/compression. I suspect that when I export to the Media Browser then this is occurring. If I am not mistaken iMovie is using something like H.264 for this. Then, when I run iDVD I suspect it will it do another conversion/compression, I think to get to MPEG2. Not only could this result in a loss of quality but also it will take extra time. I am interested to know what others think about this.
Finally, I am looking to create DVDs for a lot of video. I am wondering if there are any USB or firewire hardware devices out there that could speed up the compression. I use the Elgato Turbo.264 when I want to encode to H.264 but I wonder if there is something similar for DVD creation.

the standards for videoDVD are 720x480, and usually mpeg2 encoded..
so, your HiDef project HAS to be 'downsampled' somehow..
I would Export with Qucktime/apple intermediate => which is the 'format' your project is allready, and you avoid any useless 'inbetween encoding'..
iDVD will 'swallow' this huge export file - don't mind: iDVD cares for length, not size.
iDVD will then convert into DVD-standards..
you can 'raise' quality, by using projects <60min - this sets iDVD automatically to highest technical possible bitrate
hint: judge pic quality on a DVDplayer + TV.. not on your computer (DVDs are meant for TVdelivery)

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:

The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.
