I've formatted my harddrive and forgot to deactivate my Adobe Reader, can you reset my DRM back to 6?

If you reformatted your HD, you should have no problem at all in performing a fresh install of the free Reader on it. Or am I misunderstanding your question?

If the external drives are formatted for Windows (NTFS), you can't write to them natively on a Mac. Your options are (1) to back up and reformat the devices as FAT32 or ExFAT, or (2) to install third-party software that enables writing to an NTFS volume (not recommended.)

Reinstall MacFuse with the one from http://www.tuxera.com/mac/macfuse-core-10.5-2.1.9.dmg. If that doesn't work, you can use Paragon NTFS for Mac 9.0 which has been designed to work with Lion.

  • How to put photos that had been copied to iPhone back in computer???

How do I copy photos that I had stored on my iPhone back to my computer?
    This is what has happened:
    My hard drive recently died.
My TimeMachine iPhoto library was corrupt after the restore and, after I opened an earlier backup, some photos disappeared from my iPhoto library. Luckily I had transfered some of these missing photos to my iPhone.
Only the latest camera roll from my iPhone shows up in the import window in iPhoto.
When I click the sync button for photos in the iTunes window, it warns me that all photos in the iPhone will be wiped and replaced with the new iPhoto library (which is old/incomplete since a recent hard drive failure) but there is no way to merge photos on both devices nor to transfer my photos from my iPhone to my computer...
Anyone know how to get photos from the iPhone to my computer (not just the last roll, which can be imported easily when phone is plugged in)???

There are no options really to get access to the photo files unless you use some 3rd party tool that we cannot help with here.
Also note, when you synced photos over, they got "optimized" for the iPhone (made smaller) so even if you got them off, they will not be the original quality.
One option you can do is go to your photos, when looking at the thumbnail view of them tap the icon in bottom left (arrow looking icon).
Then start tapping all your pics to select them.
Do NOT use the Share option (as that will make even smaller copies to email). Instead when done selecting all the ones you want, choose the Copy command at the bottom.
Then leave and go to Email.
Start a new email to your self.
Paste the images in (will take some time if you picked a lot).
Once it has finished processing, email it.
This will send you the size/quality of the image you have on the phone (as mentioned not the same as original).
Then on computer check email and save out the files.

  • How do I back up my iPhone through iTunes to an external HDD; my iTunes library is already on the external HDD

Hello, this is my first time posting a question to the apple support community.
I have a bit of a (possibly unique) problem. Due to space limitations on my internal SSD, I have moved my iTunes library to an external HDD. However iTunes still backs up my iOS devices locally (~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup). This is causing a problem as it is making my SSD very full, the only way to remedy this is to remove old backups manually. Is there anyway to backup these iOS devices to the external HDD where my iTunes library is?
    Thanks very much!

I am a bit confused now.  I did the download and extraction of the junction utility.  Now I want to backup my 32 gb iPhone 5 to the external, not the internal hard drive of my computer.  I didn't quite understand the example of the path they wanted me to use.  Should I physically just cut and paste the folder of my backup from Settings and Documents, etc., or how do you get the junction utility to do that?  I'm not following and I'm usually excellent with computers.
I'm on a PC, running XP.  Thanks.

  • Problems Backing up Itunes to External HDD

I am having issues moving my Itunes to an external HDD. I get errors from the Finder saying it can't find the files to move (only for 2-3% of them but with a 1000 folders it gets annoying), but I can easily find the files in my Itunes through Finder and my Itunes app plays them just as easily.
Is there a way via the Terminal to just force my Mac to move my Itunes files to the external HDD?

Did you follow these instructions CLOSELY:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449
Don’t delete or move .itdb or .xml or any other files till it is working on your other location.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to format my mac and install fresh copy of Snow Leopard

    Hi guys,
When i bought my mac, it was coming with Mac OSX 10.5.6 Leopard.
I want to remove everything and start my mac from beginning again using Mac OSX 10.5.6 Snow Leopard directly. is it possible?
I already bought the Snow Leopard DVD.
Can i just directly re-install and format my mac using this Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD?
Or i need to format it first using old Mac OSX 10.5.6 DVD,then after that upgrade to Mac OSX 10.6?
    Please help me guys..
    Thanks a lot..

    Definitely yes.
I know that you know that there are two kind of installs for Leo: upgrade and erase and install. In principle, there would be little difference between the two. Many here say that upgrading, versus erasing and installing, is the superior procedure provided that one's prior installation is in very good condition. Others feel differently. I say just do what you prefer. My bet is that percentage-wise those getting good installs from an erase and install, particularly if all apps are reinstalled, rather than migrated, is higher than for upgrade--but probably not appreciably higher.
The processes leading to the final outcome should lead to a good outcome in either case. But, things can go wrong either way. I am not going to try to elaborate much on the specific ways that things could go wrong either way. But, for the most part, they would have to do with the way migration works and the migration technique used (if used), in the case of erase and install, and the existence of problems in the system existing prior to installation in the case of an upgrade.
    To erase and install,
    1. Start up from your Sno DVD, and start the installer.
    2. Choose your language
    3. Use the menus at the top of the next screen to start Disk Utility.
    6. Erase your drive Mac extended (journaled).
    7. Quit Disk Utility and continue your installation.
    To do an upgrade install,
    1. Start the installer from your Sno DVD either from your desktop or by starting up to the DVD.
    2. Choose your language.
    3. Continue your install.
Whichever kind of install you choose, you should be well backed up.

  • Holy Cow! Seven days to copy my iPhone library to a new external HD?

Wow - I've just begun to move my iPhoto Library File (about 80GB - over 12,000 photos and videos) from the internal HD of my black MacBook running Lion, to a new external WesternDigital My Book with 1TB of space.   I did check the info for the new drive in Lion and it says that it is Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
It looks like the iPhoto Library file is just one big file (not a folder filled with photo and video files).
My questions is that the "Copy" dialog box shows that is at "358.9 MB of 79.76 GB - About 8 Days" - could this be correct?  Yikes!!! Although it appears to be coping at a rate of about 1 MB per minute this seems to be very slow.  I expected it to take several hours - but 8 days?
My black MacBook is a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB of 667 Mhz DDR SDRAM and I'm running Lion 10.7.1
I've now gone from 7 days to 9 days... :-(
    Any ideas, suggestions or help?
    Thanks in advance ... Tom

    1. The Finder is a liar and notoriously inaccurate at these kinds of estimates. Yes, migrating this amount of data will take a while - just how much depends on a number of factors - but we're talking hours and not days.
    2. Since iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. Inside the package are lots of files and folders.

  • Backing up files to external HDD, time machine? Super Duper?

Well I finally did it. I gave myself an early Xmas gift... a 1TB WD drive. I currently have 4 internal drives in my G4 tower with OSX Tiger on one drive and OSX Leopard on another.  I have my itunes, iphoto, imovie and idvd libraries running from the other two internal drives. Dont remember if I asked this before but here goes. What's the best way to back up files without interrupting the library directory system? In other words, itunes and iphoto will be asking me where are my **** files?  I was also debating on creating a disk image of the OSX Tiger drive and erase it for other use? I can always mount it later if I need it, correct?
    Your input is appreaciated. Thanks

how many drives do you have running?
Currently have 6 machines and a total of 21 drives running.
In two machines I use TM and SD! backup, in the other four I use SD! only.
I've never fallen back/used a TM backup, but constantly use SD! backups.
The performance benefit of running a SD! clone is one main reason.
When would it be appropriate to run SP or CCC?
I run the initial SD! clone upon setup of a drive.
After that, I base frequency on the usage.
With full time machines, Smart Update of SD! runs every night.
In other machines, I run Smart Update once a week.
Having so many drives, it can get hard to cover backups drive for drive, but 1:1 is a better backup scheme.
With the 1TB, 2 TB and 3 TB drives getting so reasonable, a single drive can be partitioned to serve as backup for two, three or even four volumes.
Of course, it is better to limit the number of volumes on a single drive in case of catastrophy....

  • Is there a 13 in. Macbook Pro shell with a little pocket on the back to hold an external HDD?

I am looking for a hard shell that can hold my seagate 1 TB drive on the back of my Macbook Pro 13in 2012 (not retina, regular), while its pluged in. Kinnda like the rack thing for the back of an iMac, just this one would hold it tight to the back of the computer. If no one knows of somthing like this, if you have connections you should mention it to them. (make sure to tell them i was my idea!) Well thanks to anyone who can help! P.S. I will need to know before the middle of november!

I've seen the rack that some have attached to the back of various iMacs. However, a MBP opens and shuts, and there isn't any place to attach a rack without marring the look of your machine.
The main connections for most users would be the lightning, power, and USB connections. For others, the mini audio connection is useful. But something to hitch to the back of your MBP might be an eyesore. See it from the POV of the potential user.
On the other hand, a Mac-friendly case to hold your MBP, cables, drives, USB sticks, and adapters makes perfect sense. Put the MBP in one pocket, the peripherals in the other(s). I strongly suggest you visit your local Apple Store, since they're packed with items like these that fit your needs. Do a search on eBay for Swissgear and take a look at their cases.

  • 128gB iPad back up to an external HDD

I know I could use iCloud for some data but I need to backup all data to an external devic.  Can thios bedone from an iPad? If so, how? thanks

There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.
The Kingston Wi-Drive, which costs $50 for the 16 Gigabyte, and then $30 more for every 16 gigs more. It works by you turning it on and then accessing the files on it from an app that you download on your iDevice. You can access music, movies, and other stuff. No connections or anything, it works like a WiFi connection, you connect to it from the setting on the iPad under wireless networks.
Then there is the Seagate GoFlex, which some would recommend over the Wi-Drive. But this one costs $199 and had 500 Gigabytes of storage. It works the sameway as the Kingston: no wires, runs over its wireless connection. You can actually fit up to 300 HD movies on it.
    Another option:
Expand your iPad's storage capacity with HyperDrive

  • Backup from (not to) External HDD

Searched the forums and googled and seen plenty of information on backing up to an external HDD attached to a TC but can't seem to find out if you can back up an external HDD attached to a MacBook to a TC.
My MacBook has a 160GB internal drive but is overflowing with RAW files so using an external HDD (also 160GB) to supplement. If I buy a 500GB TC will time-machine backup both of these to it? Or will it only back up the internal drive and I will still need to buy another external HDD to back up the existing one?
Thanks in advance for any help....
