Wow... you seriously over paid for an iPhone.
That probably explains why you have/had no clue you were purchasing a locked device and think it's an Apple problem to get it unlocked.

Purchased a iPhone 5 to replace a 3, itunes is not recognizing the new phone.  All of my email accounts and calendars have switched, what do I need to do to be able to access apps?

Apple - Support - iPhone - iTunes Troubleshooting Assistant
If  the issue persists after following the troubleshooting assistant,  continue with the steps below, testing to see if the issue is resolved  after each section.
Ensure that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. iTunes 10 and later requires Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later.
Update to the latest version of iTunes and Install software updates on your Mac.
Check  USB connections. iOS devices require USB 2.0 to function properly. If  you are not sure if your Mac has USB 2.0 ports, refer to the computer's specifications. Disconnect other USB devices, and connect your device directly to a USB port on your Mac.
    Restart your Mac.

If whatever is wrong with your phone falls under the hardware warranty, Apple will replace your phone, with a refurbished unit, at no cost to you. Make an appointment at an Apple store.

  • How can I set up two iPhones with the same contact, photos, music etc... but a different sim card and phone number. They will both be my phones, but one will be for use in other countries.

Phone A = phone with information you want duplicated
Phone B = phone that you want to copy from A
    Backup Phone A.
Wipe Phone B using these instructions. What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Phone B should be on the 'Hello' screen. Do not swipe it. Launch iTunes. Plug in Phone B.
When iTunes asks if you want to set up as new phone or restore from backup, choose restore from backup of Phone A.
After this setup, any changes to one phone (i.e. adding a contact, downloading an app) will have to be manually duplicated on the second phone, if that is your desire). Making changes to one phone will not affect the other after setup.

Contact Apple and see if they can provide any documentation of the device swap.

Add me to the list of people furious with Apple about this problem...
...I have just got back from a 2 week holiday in Spain, and on day 3 of the holiday my iPhone rebooted itself and stuck at the Apple logo.
What's more annoying, I'd purchased a data abroad plan from o2 for £50 and hardly used it because I couldn't use my iPhone because it was stuck on the **** Apple logo. o2 will not refund the plan I purchased because I had started to use it (about 2.3MB to be precise).
Good job my girlfriend had her trusty Sony Ericsson phone because at least it WORKS as a phone, unlike this **** iPhone 3G which only has one use - as an expensive paperweight.
Come on Apple, at least admit there is a problem and show your loyal customers that you are actually aware there is a serious problem that is causing your iPhones to become utterly useless.
I'm seriously thinking of gettting rid of this iPhone and getting a cheap no frills phone - at least I can use it to make calls.

  • I received a used iphone in a replacement and I was told it was brand new, Now more issues.

So I bought a iPhone 5s back in October 2013, I had to have it replaced back in June 2014, here it is less then a year with the replacement and I had been having trouble with it ever since receiving it, it would work perfect for them.  The issue I had was the digitizer would stop functioning in the upper left corner, and about a week ago the finger print stopped functioning.  brought it to apple and they would not honor an arrangement they had made with me to exchange if it still had trouble after resetting to defaults because it had been 4 months,  stupid but understandable.  They quoted me $269 for a replacement.
So today I decided to pop the screen off and take a look, first off I did not realize I broke the latches at the top holding the screen down, so I ripped every display cable.  But once I opened it I saw there was the metal clasp holding the fingerprint cable down, but there is a huge gap between the cable and the clasp, so it does not stay plugged in.  But the biggest thing I saw was the remains of a void sticker inside there (picture attached).  When I got it replaced, I asked if the phone was a refurbished replacement and he said no, it was a brand new phone, it is was new there would not be stickers removed inside there.
I know I probably screwed up ripping the cables, but do I have any case here?  I know that the paper work says refurbished products may be used, but I was told they were not and since they were, they were not even refurbished properly.  Any input would be appreciated.

Actually, you no longer have any case whatsoever.  You've opened up the device.  That voids all support for that device from Apple.
And I really, really hate to tell you this, but that sticker you're seeing?  That doesn't mean it's a used device.
And a verbal statement is really irrelevant anyways.  Unless you have documentation that says it was a brand new device, then it's not.
The long and the short of it is this; if you had not tampered with the device and opened it (even if you hadn't damaged the cables, opening it up voids ALL SUPPORT), then you might have a case.  But now (especially that you've posted a picture of the opened device; no way to try to deny that now), you no longer have the $269 option.  Now you'll have to pay full retail price.  Or seek third-party support like Chris said.
    Best of luck.

  • IPhone 5 battery replaced by Apple, now constantly rebooting

    Hello,
Yesterday, my wife and I both had our batteries replaced by Apple as part of the battery replacement program.  Mine is working fine, but my wife's is not.  When we got home, the battery was at 22% (understandable since it had just been replaced with a new one).  I plugged it to charge.  After about 4 hours, I checked it, and it was still at 22%!  I did a hard reset and the phone came back up at 100%, so I figured it was a glitch.  Well, this morning it was still at 100% after not being plugged in since yesterday, so I did another hard reset.  Now, the iPhone will reboot itself every 3-4 minutes.
I have tried restoring the phone as a new device.  (I can't restore a backup since it will reboot before completing).
Strange thing,...it doesn't seem to reboot unless I am using the iPhone, or it is plugged in trying to sync.  If I let it just sit on the table with the screen off, it won't reboot.
I have an appointment at an Apple store tomorrow, but I am afraid since it is out of warranty, they won't help me....even though it was working fine before they replaced the battery (other than the fact the battery died after about 8 hours).
    Any thoughts out there?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Check out my solution. This worked for me after having the battery replaced for my iPhone 5 at the Genius Bar. Not sure if it'll fix the 100% issue though. Tried resetting network settings like above. I'll have to see and wait. Just had my battery replaced yesterday.

  • Iphone 6 screen replaced by Apple, but color difference?

About a week ago I visited my local Apple Store to have my iPhone 6 screen replaced because I had dropped my phone and the screen cracked.  The replacement took one day and it worked fine, but I have recently noticed when comparing my iPhone to other iPhone 6's that my screen lacks the blueish tint that all other phones have.  I have also compared it to my friend's iPhone 6 and his had a much more bluish tint, mine is not exactly yellow, but more of an in between.  This bothers me because my Phone hadn't always been this way and that's how I actually noticed that mine lacked a bit of the blue that I was use to.  Do you guys have any idea what this could be?  Different glass? Screen calibrated wrong?

The repair done by Apple is covered by a warranty as well. Bring it back to the Store and let them check the phone. But if the Genius at the Bar decides, that this is a rather "cosmetic" issue, they will not change the screen again.

  • When getting a warranty replacement from apple can you upgrade to the new model?

When you take your phone in to apple, and get them to replace it with another phone is it always a like for like replacement or can you upgrade and pay extra for a newer model upgrade?

Roaminggnome seems to know for sure, but it sure doesn't hurt to turn on the sugar and ask. I would just say that you had been seriously considering upgrading to the 5, and then you had this problem (I think you'll be in a better position if the problem is something original to the phone, and not a 'user misuse/damage' and if you're still under warranty somehow). I mean, you have the top model 4s, a nice amount of GB, depending on the problem, they can still refurb it and make a decent amount on it, I've purchased refurb products on Apple's site, and they are still not cheap!
I don't know if they will or not, but it certainly cannot hurt. Just say you were really looking to upgrade and were upset when you had problem xx, before you could use it to upgrade or sell it.  Be super, super nice, and just say like, 'Are there any upgrade options rather than just getting a new 4S or refurb (I think that's what they'll send you, but it's all but a brand new phone. That's not a terrible thing.) If you wouldn't mind, offer to buy a 5 refurb. My iTouch refurb, bought from Apple, came pretty much exactly the same as a new one, the outer components are all brand new, they have the cords/earbuds, all that...the only difference was mine came in a different box....but my original box had John Lennon in it, so that might have been a special deal? IDK
I've gotten ppl to do some 'out of the box' things they don't normally do, just by being crazy nice, and super accommodating, easy, and flexible. It surely cannot hurt to try, good luck and let me know if it works, so I can try when I return my Mini!!

  • Hi my iphone 4 was replaced by apple store and was told t mobile would give me an unlock code but

they won't give me one as they say my new imei no is not registered, they also said apple should have given me an open carrier phone so i could use my o2 sim card in it, has anyone else had this problem as i no longer want to use tmobile as they are a pile of crap
    thanx angie

Was your original iPhone sold and purchased as carrier locked with T-Mobile?
If so, did you request your iPhone being officially unlocked by T-Mobile which was done before your iPhone was exchanged under warranty?
You either need to contact T-Mobile about getting the iPhone officially unlocked as before if this was done previously, or you need to return to the Apple store where your iPhone was exchanged under warranty if this was done at an Apple store.
