I gave my old i-pod nano to a friend

When I gave my old i-pod to a friend, I first deleted all content, then I loaded it with a few albums that I had burned from my CDs. He cannot connect it to his computer because it has my name/passwords, etc. How do we remove my registration and set it up for him so he can use it without losing existing content? Since I do not have access to his computer, we would have to do the initial 'de-register' steps on my computer, then he can re-register when he gets it home. Thanks!

If you used the migration assistment then your data will be okay.
I (and most of the people here) would strongly recommend you reformat the computer before giving it to anybody

I will try am explain what I see: I hooked up my I Pod Clicked on Music checked Sync Music 1909 Songs select Playlist, Artists, albums, and genres checked Include music videos Playlists checked 50's Music checked 70's Music checked 80's Music checked 90's Music checked 2000 Music checked 2010 Music These are songs that I downloaded onto my I Tunes. I bought me a new computer but when my data was transferred from old computer to new computer a lot of my songs on my hard drive were lost, but they were able to save all my songs on I tunes. My I Pod is still connected Clicked on "On this Ipod" Music 938 Songs 2.2 days So my question to you is if I have 1,909 songs on my ITunes how come only 938 transferred to my IPod. I checked my IPod and it shows only 938 songs transferred. This did not happen before until I Tunes asked me if I wanted to update to a newer version. The music from the older iPod must be transferred into your iTunes library first before you can add it to the new iPod as you cannot sync or content directly from one iPod to another.

I pod Nano Screen Frozen

My i pod nano's screen is frozen on the message do not disconnect. When I connected it, a message told me it had been corrupted and neede to be restored. Except when I went to restore it, it gave me a message it could not download the information for the nano and could not restore. Now itunes is not even recgonizing a connection. What do i do?

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
Then try with the iPod in forced disk mode.

So i just recently bought a 4 gig i pod nano and put in the cd to download the updater software and all that garbage. I already had itunes 7 downloaded on my computer but the disk that came with the ipod nano had itunes 6 on it (for what reason i dont know) and thats where everything went downhill. Previously (before i purchased the nano) i had an ipod mini connected to my Itunes 7 and since i downloaded itunes 6 which came with my nano it wouldnt even let me open itunes. so i redownloaded itunes 7 and plugged in my nano and it didnt show up but when i plug in my mini that shows up. i dont know what to do...i think it has something to do with my music library but not sure...let me know

Been having the same problem with my new 4G Nano, the computer just wont recognise it, but my old Ipod is fine.
But by chance i had a USB memory stick in the other USB port and the Nano suddenly shows up on my desktop and iTunes 7!! Still won't work without a memory still plugged in as well. But I can at least get music onto it now.

Depending on what view you have on is where your iPod nano will show up. If it is the new view, then it will be in the right hand corner next the iTunes Store button. If you have the sidebar enabled then it will be where you would expect it. If it is in neither spot, then check out the article below to get it to show up on your computer.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I think this is one of the problems Apple is creating by changing the OS so often. I had fomer colleagues at [a major aerospace contractor] who told me that so many original files were ultimately lost because of the deadly change in the "Save As" operation that they are now afraid of every OS update. Apple has badly damaged their support base with that very prominent company (they won't update now until they've fully examined and understand changes in the pre-conditioned nature of OS computer functions), and they are a whole lot less enthaled with Mac-related equipment/software. Can't blame them, I too used orginal files that way (as easy-to-use templates), and lost some important files before I realized what was happening (to late to revert). Companies should not have to retrain employees each time an OS gets an update, it's can be very expensive several different ways. They learned a painful lesson with that one. And because I'm now retired and don't use multiple devices, I need iCloud like I need a hole in the head... but I'm told there's no way to keep Apple out of my computer. Fortunately, because of major problems when initially installing Mountain Lion, one hold-over of the hardware/software damage I experienced was that iCloud can no longer access my computer even though everything else is working fine again. That was the only "good luck" I had as a result of that expensive nightmare.

It sounds to me like there are two separate processes being intertwined above:
1. Setting up your daughter's MacBook with identifying info; e.g., Apple ID for the user account on that machine.
2. Transferring the iTunes library (a very different operation).
Have you used Apple's Migration Assistant to move your daughter's information from her old machine to the MacBook? That would have avoided this whole issue.
If not, either start the process over and use Migration Assistant, or try to more carefully and precisely define exactly what you did to accomplish this transition. You said, for example, "there was already an Apple ID assigned to this computer." That statement almost certainly did not originate with iTunes.

Connect it to his iTunes library and set it up as a new device. You should be prompted to Erase and Sync the iPod if his iTunes library is separate from hers.
Or head to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase all Content and Settings.

To change the format of your iPod from Window to Mac, just restore your iPod in iTunes.
(If you want it formatted for Mac OS X, then restore the iPod through iTunes on your Mac. If you'd like it Windows-formatted, then restore the iPod in iTunes on your PC.)

I recently purchased the new nano (7th generation) and I love it except for one issue. On my old 2nd generation nano, when I played podcasts, it would play podcasts one at a time. So if I had 20 episodes of a podcast on the device, it would stop at the end of each one.
With the new nano, I can select and play a podcast, but when it’s over, it goes straight to the next one without prompting. It keeps on playing all of the episodes of any podcast until you stop it manually. Setting the repeat function differently does not prevent episodes from being played automatically.
This can be very irritating when I only want to listen to one podcast. I’ve often fallen asleep listening to one episode of a podcast, only to be woken up hours later by the iPod working its way through all subsequent episodes. It is also annoying that any podcast which has started automatically in this way is marked as ‘played’ – even if you stop it within a few seconds. This makes it hard to keep track of what you have actually listened to.
Is there any way to set the iPod to play all the podcasts individually? I have read the User Guide from cover to cover, and can’t find a way of doing this.

Yes, I have had some unfortunate bad luck to have so many problems at the same time, but some of them are just things you cannot do on the new OS.

I-pod nano 1st gen not recognized by computer

We took this in to the apple store and had the i-pod restired, but neither of our computers (Windows XP) will recognize the i-pod nano now. It has been giving us problems for the last month, and when it did last work, it would only allow 6 songs to be stored.
