So I get that message when i try to open it and it started after that last update my HP went through. I can't even download a new firefox, but i was able to uninstall and reinstall while in safe mode. Do i have a virus or am i just not very computer smart here...HELP!!!!

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

    Hello,
    '''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
    If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
    *In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click Help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Restart with Add-ons Disabled''.
    *In previous Firefox versions, click on the Firefox button at the top left of the Firefox window and click on ''Help'' (or click on ''Help'' in the Menu bar, if you don't have a Firefox button) then click on ''Restart with Add-ons Disabled''.
    If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".<br>
    [[Image:Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win]]
    '''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
    ''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''

  • Can't access Firefox it says Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.

    I was in the middle of restoring the default settings on Firefox and it was in the process of cleaning up when my pc crashed. When I restarted I got the above problem. I first tried upgrading Firefox then I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and the problem still persists.
    Users/user/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles contains a file called 2nzoh7re.default-14046642433
    I made some screen dumps but can't find a way to include them here. I also can't instal the Troubleshooting Information as it just produces the same persistent error message. I'm currently forced onto I.E. as I can't access Firefox.

    The default-1401496208367 profile is currently marked as the default profile (Default=1), so Firefox will search for a folder with this name.
    If only the other folder is present then that explains the error message.
    The numbers appended are Unix epoch time stamps that show the time/date the folder had been created.
    * 1404664242433 = Sun 6 Jul 2014 16:30:42:433 GMT
    * 1401496208367 = Sat 31 May 2014 00:30:08:367 GMT
    So it looks that the crash didn't finish properly.
    Is there an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop?

    Hello,
    Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
    You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
    *Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
    *In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
    *In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
    *Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
    Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
    Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • When I click to launch firefox it says your firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible. How do I fix this? I have been through all the troubleshooting and can not figure this out.

    This just randomly occured when I tried to get online yesterday. I tried to go through run and pull up my profile but it does not seem to be there. I tried to create a new profile through run as well and it just pops up this error message. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox and that does not seem to wrok either.
    This is not an issue on any other user accounts

  • Whenever I try opening Firefox, it keeps saying "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."

    Some weird stuff happened. Firefox and Google Chrome merged into one or something like that happened. I tried going on Firefox after that but it kept repeating that message. I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome and Chrome is now fine, but for Firefox I uninstalled and reinstalled it about 2 times. After the 2nd time, it started working... for 5 minutes. Then the same stuff happened again.

    This is usually caused by a problem with the profiles.ini file and the profile marked as Default=1 is no longer present on the hard drive.
    *Windows: "%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\"
    *Linux: ~/.mozilla/firefox/
    *Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/
    *Delete the profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new default profile
    *Use the Profile Manager to create a new profile
    *Use "Choose Folder" to recover an existing profile if there is still one present

    Hi crmn,
    Have you looked at the Knowledge Base article [[Recovering important data from an old profile]]? There are steps in there that might help you. You might just want to create a new profile and start fresh.

    I must have deleted something. My firefox cannot open. I get the following message:

  • I keep getting a "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible" message and firefox does not open. WHat is wrong and how do I fix?

    I uninstalled Firefox from my computer, then I reinstalled it and tried to run it, but this message appeared, "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible" and Firefox does not open at all.

    hello davidrusso71, press windows-key+R on your computer and open ''%appdata%\Mozilla\'' - an explorer window should come up, in there rename the folder labelled "Firefox" to something like oldFirefox. on the next start of firefox this should lead to a new profile being created...
    you might want to import some of your old data into the new profile afterwards: [[Recovering important data from an old profile]]

  • Get your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible after install. Profile.ini isnt installed at all. Forums no help.

    I have installed the latest version of Firefox on my windows XP Pro 32 bit box 3 times and uninstalled 3 times to fix the message that the Profile is missing and your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible. I am admin on the box and I can install the download and remove it all day long but I can't get the profile.ini to be created. I've looked at all the forums and they don't address the missing profile at all or that it never gets created. I really need this to work as IE won't work for me.

    There is no Mozilla folder created under appdata only roaming and several other program files underneath that.
    Then perform the steps I described for the ''Roaming'' folder instead.
    If the problem persists, please mention what security software you have (antivirus, firewall, etc.). Are you by any chance using software that might automatically lauch applications in a sandbox, like Avast?

    I don't know who you emailed, given that Mozilla doesn't provide tech support via e-mail. If you're referring to the notification e-mails from this forum, they only serve to let you know a reply has been posted. You need to click the “See the comment” link in the message to reply.

    If there was anyway to import the profile.ini I would.
    You could manually create the folders and the ''profiles.ini'' file, but without solving the underlying problem, you're likely just run into some other issue instead. If you insist on going about it this way, this is what you'd do:
    <br>1. Click the '''Start''' button on the taskbar and choose '''Run'''.
    <br>2. In the box that opens, type ''%AppData%'' and press Enter.
    <br>3. In the folder that opens, create a new folder called ''Mozilla''
    <br>4. Open the Mozilla folder and inside it create a new folder called ''Firefox''
    <br>5. Start Notepad, paste the following as its contents, then save the file as ''%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\profiles.ini''
    <pre><nowiki>[General]
    StartWithLastProfile=1
    [Profile0]
    Name=default
    IsRelative=1
    Path=Profiles/2dzy4k7u.default
    Default=1</nowiki></pre>
    6. Inside the Firefox folder, create a new folder called ''Profiles''
    <br>7. Inside the Profiles folder, create a new folder called ''2dzy4k7u.default''
    <br><br>
    When launching Firefox, it will then attempt to populate the blank profile folder with data files (bookmarks, history, cookies, and so on). If you still have the permissions issue, I expect it will fail to do so.

  • When I try to opn Morilla Firefox I get the following -Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.

    I am running windows 7. I have tried deleting and reinstalling but I still get the message Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.

    It might be best to do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder in case some items are located in the Firefox program folder and those may be use to initialize a new profile.
    Note that Windows hides some file extensions by default.
    Among them are .html and .ini and .js and .txt, so you may only see a name without file extension.
    You can see the real file type if you open the Properties via the right-click context menu
