Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, follow Troubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to perform unauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. First you must uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer, then edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from the hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. Also, using an older or modified .ipsw file can cause this issue. Try moving the current .ipsw file, or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

It sounds like you're seeing an alert message when opening Mail on your iOS devices. Do you have multiple email accounts setup on the devices? I get an error code -8003 when I try to empty the trash

I was about to run TechToolPro to defrag etc my external HD when I decided to reduce the size of the Time Machine file by removing the earliest two or three backups which date back to a year ago or so. I realize the error of my ways now but my thinking was to reduce the time it took to defrag etc.
I had put the files in my trash on the MBP 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 Gb ram running 10.6.8 which at that time had about 11gib of HD space left. This action brought it down to 3.8 Gb left on the HD.

Now when I try to empty the HD I get an error code -8003 and the HD space remaining has reduced to about .5 Gb.
What are my options?

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Why am I getting http error code 413 when I try to upload a photo?

I am trying to upload a picture from my computer to the www.NWF.org web site. I have done this 19 times before, but suddenly I'm getting "http error code: 413" and my picture won't upload. I've tried closing Firefox, updating all my plug-ins, and rebooting the computer, none of which has helped. When I Google this error, I don't understand what I'm reading.

I'm getting an error code -8003 when I try to empty my trash.

I recently emptied several old backup files from an external hard drive to the trash folder. Now when I attempt to empty the trash, I get this message: "The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003). What should I do? I just took the computer and external hard drive to an apple store for genius support a few days ago and the tech fixed a few things. He advised me to empty the backup files, which is what I'm trying to do.

I suspect you've been trying to remove some of your Time Machine back ups.   Not a good idea without doing the necessary research first. Read about ways to solve Trash problems.

Thank You Eric, I contacted Cisco, they have nothing for Maverick OS.. too new for them.. It still works fine but I can't access my router settings If needed if I needed to view my settings, to change a password or add more guest access. Right now if I had to do something, They said they would have to make the changes locally through their website and there would be a fee because I'm out of warranty.. Since I'm able to still connect since upgrading to Maverick, I assumed Apple included a patch or something in the Maverick upgrade..

HT201263 I get an error code every time I try to restore my iphone 4.

My iphone had some issue and now it only comes on when I plug it into a computer. When I do that the "plug into itunes" symbol comes on the screen. When I attempt to restore the iphone it makes it partially through the restore but always ends with an error code, normally 2001 or 2006, but sometimes others.
