I get an error trying to migrate my Boot Camp Windows to my new iMac.

How do transfer windows from imac to imac using migrate. I get an error of data transfer whenever I use migrate. Is there another way to do this?

Hi and welcome to Discussions,
WinClone is able to do that http://www.twocanoes.com/winclone/
And here is a step-by-step from the WinClone Forum https://www.twocanoes.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=985
Microsoft proposes to use their 'sysprep' prior to the cloning process to avoid difficulties due to the change of the computer hardware.
Here's a good how-to of Sysprep: http://blog.brianleejackson.com/how-to-sysprep-xp-machine-sp3-copy-administrator -profile-to-default-profile
Hope It helps

  • Keep Getting this Error When I'm Partitioning Boot Camp

But, I do what it says and I still get it:

    http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/6636/untitled1jm8.jpg

I got this error after I did the following:
    1. Installed BC/WinXP.
    2. Removed WinXP by reclaiming entire volume for use by OSX using BC.
    3. Tried to re-partition the drive using BC.
I fixed this by booting from the OSX startup disc and running the disc utility and had it repair the disc. Apparently step 2 above left the disc with some sort of errors on it. I originally partitioned the disc using BC 1.2b. I later updated to BC 1.3b (which is what I tried the repartition with).

Assuming you are having a problem printing one PDF, and not every PDF, If you have Acrobat, you can try Tools> Print Production> Preflight> PDF/X Compliance> Convert to PDF/X-1a. You can also look in your printer settings and see if you have the option to "print as image".

  • When trying to download Boot Camp Windows Support Software, error says: "Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server."

I use a Macbook Pro 13" mid 2010 on Mavericks and I've tried using the Boot Camp assistant to download support software for Windows 7. This gives the error "Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server."
Further, I tried to separately download Boot Camp 4 and 5. When I do this and try to install from Windows 7, it says that this version of Boot Camp is not for this computer and doesn't install. The result is that I have Windows 7 working and installed, but am unable to use the trackpad to rightclick, brightness settings, etc.
    Please help!
    Thanks

You need to run Bootcamp Assistant and select only the menu item to download the Windows Support Software. Follow the instructions. The download servers are extremely slow therefore it may take several hours to get the download.

Thanks.  I have followed all the instructions as recommended and nothing has worked so it looks like the restore/update may have been interrupted - would loss of internet connection do this?
Yes it would, possibly even brick it.
Have successfully connected my ipod nano with iTunes so looks like the device driver is working.
Can I use my ipod nano USB connector to check?
It is not much help to you, since the device that you need still not recognized.
Anyway looks like I may have to swallow the loss of data.  Have set-up a call for tomorrow with Apple support so will wait until after this before doing the factory restore!
Good luck, but if you expect miracle from that call good luck again.

    How do I fix?

Unless you deliberately downgraded iTunes at the same time this may be a sign of a corrupt library. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.

  • Migrating a boot camp partition?

I have a Macbook Pro (2GHz core 2 duo) with a cracked screen. I want to migrate pretty much everything to my new Macbook Pro (figured if I was going to spend a lot, I'd get a new computer w/ more memory, etc. instead of dumping money into a computer out of warranty). The problem I'm running into is that I have a Boot Camp/Windows partition on my old computer. How do I move this? Will the partition transfer using migration assistant? Or do I have to migrate my Mac data, re-setup Boot Camp, and try using something like Carbon Copy Cloner to move the windows partition? Tried using Carbon Copy Cloner to just move the Mac partition, but it [the new mac] would not boot after the transfer. Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you use SuperDuper and perform a block to block clone (the target drive has to be larger than the source drive) you will have a clone of everything on your HD - OS-X and Windows.
If the HD on the new machine is larger than the external HD with the clone, you can reclone everything back perfectly.
Hint: make the partition on the external drive intermediate in size to your present internal HD and the new HD size and it should work perfectly.

  • I'm getting "Installer disk not found" message during boot camp 5 and windows 8 install on late 2011 MBP upgraded to Mavericks.

    hello,
    And thank you in advance.
I'm getting "Installer disk not found" message during boot camp 5 and windows 8 install on late 20011 MBP upgraded to OS X 10.9 Mavericks. Any ideas?
I've downloaded the Window support option software and the WindowSetupBox.exe and copied it to the USB drive. I tried to create an iso image from my Windows XP machine but recieved messages that Windows 8.1 could not run on XP.  I've ordered the Windows 8.1 backup media.
    Any way to proceed?
    Thanks  Tim

    download the win 8 iso from here;

then start over. install on to your usb along with the support software.

  • Can't get Apple USB modem to work in Boot Camp

I've been struggling to get an Internet connection under boot camp/Windows XP for several days. Have an Apple USB modem and installed all the Apple drivers. Apple tech support says they can't help me with Windows (cop out). Both Microsoft and my ISP tech support team have both been great and have spent hours trying to help me. Their final conclusion is that the modem is working fine, but the underlying flaw is the inability of an Apple system to run Windows. In desperation, I've ordered a US Robotics USB modem from the Mac/PC Connection that is both OS X and Windows XP compatible. It is on backorder for 2 weeks
Any help you can give me in the meantime would be greatly appreciated! Glad I kept my old Dell!

"I am confused, QuickDraw. If the poster cannot get online via Windows XP, how does he or she get the drivers?"
I was speaking of the Boot Camp drivers that comes on the Leopard Disc. This could possibly be the answer to your troubles as well if you haven't already installed them yourself. After you've successfully installed Windows via Boot Camp, you need to boot up into Windows, then stick in your Leopard Disc and the drivers are supposed to install automatically. If after you've installed the BC drivers you still cannot get online via your router, then post back.
    Hope this helps.
By the way, you really need to start your own thread. That way you'll have a better chance of being assisted from others. Just a suggestion.

  • I have a copy of Windows 7, and I am trying to bring up Boot Camp on my MacBook with Snow Leopard.

I have a copy of Windows 7, and I am trying to bring up Boot Camp on my MacBook with Snow Leopard. But my Snow Leopard install disk is too old for Windows 7, so attempted Boot Camp install of drivers fails.
I have hand-installed the NVidia graphics driver, and I have keyboard, minimal trackpad, and hardwire to internet all working. So the WIndows machine is usable. But I am hurting for wi-fi, better trackpad, and whatever else is delivered by Boot Camp. I can't use any of the Boot Camp upgrades because I do not have XP or Vista.

    Dear Nathan,
Many thanks. To the best of my memory, that is how I got where I am today. Initially I had one failed setup, then discovered compatibility mode and ran using it.  The result was not an obvious failure, but something was not there because not only were some drivers missing (wi-fi, trackpad, ...) but (much to my disappointment) the 3.1 update would not run. It complained that 3.0 wasn't there. If I hardwired to my home network, the machine would do almost everything I wanted, but the graphics were slow and clumsy. That is when I hunted around for the NVidia driver and downloaded it from NVidia. And that is where I stand now.
My son found this link http://www.simplehelp.net/2009/01/15/using-boot-camp-to-install-windows-7-on-you r-mac-the-complete-walkthrough/
which has instructions claiming to do the install straight to Win 7 without using compatibility mode.
Given that my clumsy efforts to patch things up have probably necessitated a Win 7 deinstall and reinstall to test either your plan or the one my son found, I am inclined to sit tight for a couple of days to see  how much I can learn.
I appreciate your interest in  this problem, and if you are up for reading the process at the link my son found and commenting, I would be grateful.
In any case, many thanks, Paul

While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use Boot Camp. There's a Boot Camp Support Community where everybody uses Boot Camp. You should also post this question there.
