I get an error when updating iPod...

I've done everything the support tutorial has told me to do and nothing has worked. It used to be a (-36) error but now it just plain says the disk can't be read from or written. I'm tired and want my music, I hope I can fix this soon since I have a trip and would like to bring along my music with me.
It's a 20GB iPod, not an old model but not a picture or video one.
Please help!! Thankyou.

hi toriko!

  • Keep on getting unknown error when updating ipod

I keep on getting unknown error (-4) whenever i try to update songs and podcasts into my ipod video and it won't update anything at all!

I know it does not deal with the same error number, but try this article. Also, make sure your iTunes and iPod software are up-to-date (see here for iTunes and here for iPod).

  • Keep getting unknown error when connecting iPod?

Each time I try connecting my iPod in I get an error message in iTunes. It does the same thing when I connect my iPhone in too.
The iTunes version is the one before 9.2 came out.
I get an error saying "iTunes could not connect to this iPod because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000001)."
Please help I'm not sure what's wrong and can't find anything on this issue! D:

well last I tried it did but I'm not using it now because it's at geek squad for repair so that's why I'm using the mac. I've always had this problem with this mac but never addressed it since I used my pc in the past. I think the problem may be is the mac needs updating. It's a G3 but I'm planning on taking it in and having it updated to the newest os/processor, all that good stuff.
But I just switched usb cables and that seemed to work for the time being. Thankfully

  • Error When Updating iPod

When I try to update my iPod, I get an error message that says that "a required file cannot be found" so my iPod cannot be updated. I followed all of the instructions of reinstalling iTunes and restoring my iPod, but it didn't work. Now my iPod is empty and unable to update.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Deleting the whole ipod photo cache won't create any other problems like viewing photos on my ipod?
okay, i just did my first photo syncing ever on attractive beast in order to try to work out precisely what happens with this. i'm using itunes 7.0.2.16.
after i had synced a folder containing four photos to attractive beast (i checked "include full-resolution photos" for the heck of it), i deleted the photo cache from that folder. i still had attractive beast connected at the time, and didn't see any immediate effect. so i ejected her and plugged her back in. here's a link to screenshot of the dialog box that came up:
dialog box after deleting photo cache and reconnecting attractive beast
... so i clicked "yes" and the photos were deleted from attractive beast.
nothing was resynced immediately. so i went back to the photos tab, and saw that "Photoshop album" was now selected (instead of my folder of photos). i reselected my folder of photos, rechecked "include full-resolution photos" (that had been unchecked), clicked apply, and the four photos synced over again.
... so, so long as all the photos that are on the ipod are still in the folder you select for syncing, i think you should be fine ...
(granted, this is the first time i've ever done this, so if anyone else with some more experience with sort of thing would like to leap in with any additional observations, i'd be greatly obliged.)

  • Windows Errors when updating IPOD

When updating my IPOD, ITunes comes up with error message below
"iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" - and then wants to send an error report off to Microsoft
I have updated the latest version of ITunes, reinstalled it, updated the latest version of IPOD updater. Updated my IPOD and then reset it clean. I have tried a different fire wire port. I just can't figure out why it keeps shutting down after about the 3rd song. This morning it updated fine.

    hi Ellent!
hmmm. if you're getting that error message under those circumstances, let's try getting a crash log to the Discussions Hosts, so they can throw it over the fence to the Apple engineers, so they can have a look at it.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
plug the ipod in, collect the crash log, and send it to a discussions host
    in the email:
    (1) let them know the precise version number of itunes that you're using. (go into your "Help > About iTunes" to doublecheck.)
    (2) let them know the precise version of the ipod updater you're using.
    (3) include the URL to this thread so that whoever gets the email has some context, but also explicitly mention that you're getting this when you plug in the ipod.

  • Keep on getting an error when updating acrobat XI to the latest version, have uninstalled the product, re-installed it and the error is still popping up. Running Win 7 64bit

Sorry for the long description, have been trying to update my Acrobat Pro XI to the latest version, when using the update tool I get an error that suggests for me to uninstall Acrobat and reinstall it, have done that 2 times, don't want to do it again. Why am I having this issue? I used to have PDF pro and got rid of it in favor of Acrobat, now I am starting to think this was not such a good move...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

The uninstall is a last resort. Just download the update from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows and manually do the update. For AA XI, you can go directly to 11.0.07 (not the case for earlier versions). Be sure you are logged in as the administrator and have anti-virus disabled.

  • Error #3194 I get this error when updating ios5!

I have no idea why this happens! please help me fix it, all this updating to ios5 is really turning into a pain in the butt! help!

    Thanks for the help Ricky.
I did put my iPod into DFU and iTunes recognized it in restore mode. After restore I am back where I was before - iTunes cannot connect because of an unknown error.
I have installed Jailbreak to see if I can bypass itunes but haven't succeeded. I can't get my computer to recopgnize the iPod as a device.
I'll take it to a Genius bar next time I am in the area of one. Until then I'll probably continue to try hacks to get it connected.

  • I keep getting an error when updating to iWork Update 9.3

The following is the error that I have been getting for quite some time:

You're trying to update an application that's running, perhaps in another account. Make sure you quit all apps that are to be updated. If another user is logged in under Fast User Switching or Screen Sharing, he or she must do the same.

  • Getting Unknown error when updating apps

Has anyone seen this when trying to update apps on iPad 1?

Sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again.
NOTE - in iOS 5 go to Settings>Store>Tap your ID and sign out.
