I get choppy video on netflix streaming online

how can i fix choppy video on netflix streaming online

What version Mini do you have?  How much RAM?
What is your internet connection and speed?
Not knowing that, first I would say insure that you have
the latest version of Microsoft Silverlight installed.  Next,
do you have any other apps running at the same time?
Which browser are you using?  Also, is this all the time
or occasionallly?
I have a 2010 Mini (Mountain Lion installed) that I use as an
HTPC.  Most of the time, I have no real issues with the video
from Netflix.  There are occasions when video is pretty choopy.
However, I can view the same program at a later date and it plays
fine.  Sometimes the problem can be at the Netflix end or with the
connection.

  • Installed 10.1, and still get choppy video?

I am running on Firefox browser, Compaq Presario S6300NX, installed and running the new 10.1 version,
disabled the acceleration as shown here, updated drivers, etc,
and I'm still getting choppy video feed.  The general support page here said something
about making more bandwidth, I've checked the bandwidth of my computer online
and it came back with 11.5 to 11.8 Mega (something)
The video feed of what I'm trying to get is put out
at 350 KPS.  (Icenetwork new videos).  My computer is detecting faster than that.
The older videos on their website still work just fine as they
    did before.
Assuming it is a bandwidth problem what can I do?  I'm not running anything else while I try to run these
videos.  If it is not bandwidth, what else?  Thanks

The last Flash version that works on a PowerPC Mac is the 10.1 r102 version that you already have, so you can ignore any messages that your Flash is not up to date because you can't update to a later version.

  • Can't Get Website Videos or Radio Streaming to Work

Just got a new MacBook today, and unable to get videos at CNN, MSNBC, AOL, MLB, etc. to play. Managed to install WMP9, but CNN keeps saying "cannot detect WMP".
Tried to listen to radio stations KNBR and WFAN, and no luck.
All these things worked on the HP laptop I just sent back, without even having to download plug-ins.
But even with all the plug-ins downloaded, including Flash and Real Player, I STILL DON'T GET ANY VIDEO OR AUDIO FROM THE ABOVE WEBSITES!!!
HELP! Is there any way to get the video and audio content of the many websites to work on this ADVANCED?? computer?

Okay I just wanted to get back with you with some feedback. I had a MacBook pro for a week for testing for my job sight so I know the drawbacks for streaming video playback. My own computer is a PowerMac G5 and a 17" PowerBook so I have both PowerPC Macs, here's the scoop.
Windows Media Player alone will barely do anything on the Intel based Macs, it's virtually unusable. Flip4Mac was released last week for the Intel based Macs but it was released in beta and then somehow disappeared. There may have been too many bugs, it should be back very soon.
Microsoft is just very rude to the Mac world so get used to it. Microsoft just doesn't want Mac users to enjoy the benefits of streaming video content as the Windows users but don't be discouraged as most streaming content on the web is turning to flash which works on both platforms perfectly.
On the PowerPC Macs doesn't like Safari but welcomes Firefox and plays the videos perfectly. AOL video plays on any Mac browser so there was no trouble there either. CNN is my homepage and I watch videos there too without a hitch. Using Safari, Flip4Mac is required to play CNN videos but using FireFox windows media player launches right inside the browser and playes perfectly.
If you are a Windows switcher and just coming to the Mac side I hope these small issues don't discourage you and make you regret leaving Windows but there's always a price to pay on either platform. The price of safe internet browsing and email sharing and no virus worries of in terms of downloading virtually any web content will cost you having to get irritated when there's Windows only streaming content or the one or 2 web sights that only welcome Windows Internet Explorer. Incidentally MSNBC's videos require a Windows Internet Explorer only so Macs are not welcome.
I have been a Mac user for 10 years and have never once regretted switching from my PC.
Well at least if it's necessary you can at least install a copy of Windows XP SP2 since you have a dual boot machine.

  • Since the latest security patch (ML), I'm getting choppy video across my entire MacBook

    MacBook Pro (2012)
    2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
    8GB Ram
Everything was fine until a few weeks ago... after installing the latest security patch for ML, video playback - downloaded and streamed - will briefly pause and/or choppy. I thought the problem was resolved w/ Yosemite, but no such luck. I'm assuming it's a systemic issue... though where to begin?
I'm not that tech savy, and may need to bring this in for a look-see. Any tips on where to go from here?
    Thanks

Put me on the list as a supportor of the action. I imagine there are going to be many others with the similar complaint, this Co. has been cacheing my old accounts & poping them up every now & then, just to try & use up or do away with my credits.

  • Adobe premiere elements 13 - im getting choppy video and audio in premiere elements 13, how can i fix this...

what settings in preference and project settings can i set to fix this. i have a windows desktop
    asus m11
    windows 8
    64 bit
    intel core i5
    2.8 ghz
    8gb ram
i hav the software on my c drive and in scratch disks preferences i have the rest on my 2tb external drive same as project. thanx in advance...........

    FNGTF84
Thanks for the follow up. Sorry that the news was not better.
As for project settings (project preset)....that should be set to match the properties of the media that you import. Only one project preset per project, so, if you have more than one format, you need to set priorities for the project, and then work everything else around that prime choice. But, for now, assuming all the project content have the same format.
The program is set up to have the project select the project preset based on its analysis of the properties of the first source you drag to the Timeline. If it cannot do that for some reason, it does not give you the closest project preset for what you need, instead it gives you its default NTSC/AVCHD/Full HD 1080i30 or its PAL counterpart if you are working in a PAL setup. You can always check to see what the project set. See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio (even if they look grayed out). You can view project settings there, but you cannot make significant changes in what has been set. So, you start a new project if the settings are not right.
The manual way for you to set the project preset....
    File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings
In Change Settings, change the project preset to match the properties of your source file. OK out of there.
In the New Project dialog that you see next, change the name of the project, and make sure to have a check mark next to Force Selected Project Settings On This Project. OK out of there.
Back in the Expert workspace, import your source media using the project's Add Media/Files and Folders.
If you setup according to my suggestions in post 3 and are still have previewing issues, then I think we should look deeper into the video card/graphics card. See Device Manager/Display Adapters to verify what your computer is using. And, then go to the web site of the manufacturer of that card to determine if you have the latest driver for that card.
    Please consider.
    Thank you.

  • I am getting choppy video on my Macbook Pro.

I know there are about 75 answers to this already, but nothing has worked.
I have Maverick. I just upgraded to 8GB of ram. 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7. I ran disk utility. I have updated Flash. I have plenty of memory. I have restarted in Safe Mode and the thing went really wonky. There were horizontal lines running up and down the screen. Trash is empty. Any more ideas?

  • Help - Best router for netflix streaming?

    Hello,
I tried a Netgear wrn3500 and Linksys 610n before buying an Airport Extreme.
I seem to get choppy video from netflix using the Airport Extreme than I did with the other two.
Can someone recommend the best router for Video and gaming?
I am using cable internet (Time Warner)
    Thanks
    Frank

If online gaming is the most important requirement, you will want to go with routers that support UPnP. All the major game console vendors support sites list compatible routers for their respective versions of online gaming access.
For streaming you will want a router with both Gigabit Ethernet (WAN & LAN-side) and offers 802.11n that operates in the 5 GHz radio band with wide-channels.
Finally, if you want to support both gaming and streaming at the same time, I suggest that you look at routers that can operate in both the 2.4 & 5 GHz bands simultaneously.

  • Netflix Streaming quality degraded over last few months in Plano, Tx?

The last couple of months I've been getting horrible connections in Netflix streaming to my Xbox360. Prior to that I would always get a 5 bar connection, but over the past couple of months I've been luck to get 3 bars. Many times the stream will stutter out and not be able to continue playing, causing a reconnection and really interrupting the viewing. I haven't changed anything in my setup and I have my Xbox360 hard wired to my router, so I have no idea what could be going wrong. I have the 25/15 service, but all the speed tests I've done have not gotten any higher than 14/14, and often are more like 8/10. Is there anything going on with Verizon's connections in TX?

To summarize Verizon's statement: paying Verizon customers are demanding lots of data from Cogent (i.e. streaming lots of Netflix movies). This is requiring Cogent to pump a large volume of traffic to Verizon's network because paying Verizon customers are requesting it.
In turn Verizon is now demanding more cash from Cogent because Verizon paying customers are requesting that traffic. The end result is Verizon looking to make more cash off of their own customers' activities and/or using it as an excuse to quietly degrade the Netflix experience (but hey, they conveinently have their own Redbox Instant streaming service that I'm sure they would love you to subscribe to. It probably doesn't suffer from this problem either).
    In reality, Verizon should:
    1) Realize that this is on them and they are not providing the quality level of service that their customers are paying for.
    2) Join Netflix's (free) Open Connect. This would both significantly reduce the congestion AND provide even higher quality Netflix service. (Hint: Your paying customers would love you if you did this, Verizon)

    Hello Laura&Graeme, Welcome to Discussions.
First off great job with what you have done. I have some suggestions below. One which you have done but want to ensure you know the full list of apple programs that may actually be in your system. So you can remove them all. Below is the first link to assist you as well as a text list of those Apps.

  • Dropped Frames / Choppy Video

I've read through the discussions and had a bit of luck finding solutions to my problem, but apparently it isn't fixing the root.
I'm running Final Cut Express 3.5.1 on a new 3.06 GHz iMac that I only purchased a week ago. I've started editing some video footage and between one day and the next I only get choppy video. The previously rendered videos still work fine, even within the viewer or if re-rendered. But the new content, in the same file format and recorded the on the same device with the same settings, give me choppy video.
I've done everything that I could think of, including restart, software update, checked my Fit-to-Window in the viewer brought the files straight to the internal hard drive and even increased my scratch disk size. Nothing seems to make a difference.

Two things you could try if you haven't already:-
    1. Trash Preferences EXACTLY as detailed here... http://www.fcpbook.com/Misc1.html
    2. Open a new User Account and use FCE from that.
I notice you don't mention what "the same file format" is ?

  • How can I get netflix streaming audio, the video is fine but the audio coming through is from the TV(dish)

how can I get netflix streaming audio, the video is fine but the audio coming through is from the TV(dish)

It's exactly as I stated. Whenever I try to drag these kinds of loops (ESX24 / software instrument loops? the ones marked in green with the white music note next to them) from the loop browser into the timeline a message comes up saying Audio Not Found for that loop.  And a new track is created automatically when loops are dragged into the timeline, so I'm not creating some other random / synth instrument track so I'm not sure  what the deal is... But perhaps I'll try creating a software instrument track first and then drag the loop into that track and see what happens - maybe there's something with the default settings that automatically creates audio tracks whenever loops are imported?

  • HT204291 When I airplay "Dish Anywhere" to my Apple TV I only get audio,no video. Other streaming videos ex Netflix is fine ?

When I airplay "Dish Anywhere" from my IPad Air to Apple TV, I only get audio, no video. When I Airplay other streaming video(ex Netflix) everything works fine. I would appreciate any input

Not all apps are enabled for airplay, this is up to the developer to do.

  • Exactly how do i stream videos from netflix, thru my ipad, to my hdtv?

how do i uaw my ipd2 to download movies or stream movies  from netflix, thru my ipad to my hdtv?

No you don't need an Apple TV.
If you already have a Netflix account, you need to download the Netflix app for iPad.
Depending on what will work, you'll need to purchase the Apple Digital AV cable/connector (HDMI connector),
Apple Component video & audio cable (separate Red, Green Blue channels) or Apple Composite & audio (VGA)
    cable.
Once you have one of the cables connected to both your iPad and the appropriate connection/selection on the TV, you tap the Netflix app icon, input your Netflix user name and password, pick a TV show or movie you want to watch tap on the movie, then tap play and the video should output through the iPad's dock connector to the input connected to the TV. Make sure you pick the right input setting via your HDTV's own remote control.
    And that's it!
You need to have an active account for the Netflix streaming content service in order for their app to work on iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch.
I have an older Sony 38" TV and use the Apple Composite (VGA) cable to stream Netflix through the iPad to my TV. The iPad acts as a streaming media device for this type of use.
    Works great!
One caveat though. There is been a lot of threads here that deal with the quality of Apple's cable/connector varieties.
Many have complained that they had to struggle with finding a good, working cable or finding the cable that would work with the iPad that allowwed the video
signals to pass thru the cable/s to the TV.
Hopefully you won't have this issue, but if you buy a certain Apple cable and it doesn't appear to be working or defective, return it and purchase another like it or try an entirely different cable.
I couldn't get the Apple Component Video cable to work on my Sony. I returned it for another and still didn't work. I returned that one a tried the
Apple Composite (VGA) cable anf that cable has worked like a champ for nearly a year, now!
