I get error messages trying to download free OSX 10.9 to my macbook pro running OSX10.8.5 what should I do

I've tried to download OSX 10.9 Mavericks free and always get errors occurred massage before its done.  I want to buy Pages, but the paid download requires OSX 10.9.  What can I do?

What is the error message, exactly? Does your computer meet the requirements for Mavericks?
