I get itunes installer error when i try to install update 10.4.1

I have downloaded new Itunes update, but it won't install. I keep getting message to try to reinstall, but it keeps coming back with same message that the installer encountered errors during install and no changes to the configuration were made.

ITunes downloaded, but getting a QuickTime error when I try to install

I have downloaded iTunes. No problems there. The iTunesSetUp EXE file is on my Desktop. But when I then run the iTunesSetup.exe to install it, I keep getting the exact same message:
"The installation of QuickTime did not complete successfully. iTunes requires QuickTime"
That's it. No error number or further explanation. I have deleted/erased all other versions of QuickTime. I have downloaded, run and installed the QuickTime 7 standalone installer from my hard drive and yet I still keep getting the same message I posted above.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

When I try to install updates I get an error message " an unexpected error has occured" This involves: Epson Printer Software update 2.11; iTunes 10.6.3; Airport Utility 5.6.1; Remote Desktop Client Update andd Java for Mac OSX 10.6 Update 9. I also have purchased OS X Mountain Lion and have the same problem. Any suggestions?

The error message is misleading, the problem is that you need WRITE privileges added to the destination directory tree.
Assuming you are using the "date" structure that LR defaults to, find the directory that contains the 2014 folder (the one that works) and add WRITE rights to the parent of "2014".
While you are there, if you want, add "2015" folder to beside "2014" and add READ and WRITE rights to that new directory.
