mail sent to [email protected] comes into my incoming mail. How is this possible and how can I prevent it?

The spammer is placing your email address and probably the majority of others in the Bcc: field for the message header (blind carbon copy) and all email addresses placed in the Bcc: field are invisible to all recipients of the message.
You can do the same. You can send a message with a single email address placed in the To: field and the email addresses for all other recipients in the Bcc: field and all recipients will see the email address in the To: field only.
If your ISP or email account provider allows for this, you can place the email addresses for all recipients in the Bcc: field and the only address shown when the received message is opened by all recipients will be your address as the sending address.
There is nothing you can do to prevent this.

If you are receiving emails then your address is in the list of recipients. Perhaps in a blind carbon copy field or in a group of recipients. It may appear to you that you are receiving these emails in error but you are not.
This is a ploy of spammers. They include a long list of recipients in a hidden list and use some unsuspecting or incorrect from address. You are not accomplishing anything by bouncing these emails. Either you are bouncing them to a non-existent address or you are bouncing them to an innocent person who is wondering why they are receiving your bounced email.
Just igmore the emails. The spammers will move on.

EMails not addressed to me

I receive a lot of junk eMails that are not exactly addressed to me. They are close to correct and are the correct domain.
I receive approximately 20 to 25 a day. I am using Apple Mail

Receiving emails not addressed to me

in the last two days I have been sent emails. The first was addressed to '[email protected]' which appears to be a scam email.The email was sent from [email protected]
The second is addressed to '[email protected]' Which is an email that has a link to a pornographic web site. The email was sent from [email protected] Both were not addressed to my email address and hopefully not intended for me. Is there a security issue here? Could someone have found a way of sending emails to the .mac community? Has anyone else had simular emails or has something happened to my email address to make it receive other peoples? My .mac account is up for renewal soon I dont want to loose it but I also dont expect to receive this kind of stuff sent to .mac accounts. I too have experienced strange happenings since upgrading to 10.4.5 sent emails appear in drafts and the toolbar for mail and safari keep loosing icons. Any suggestions??

The headers in an email message (From:, To:, CC:, BCC:) are NOT used by the SMTP delivery system, and may bear no relationship to the actual sender and receiver. This is generally the case for spam mail.
To deliver mail a mail client (eg mail.app, but it can be any program or even be done by "hand" though telnet) strikes up a "conversation" with a mail server the goes like this:

The mail server does not check for the existence of x, nor of a or b or possibly hundreds of others in the mail headers of the message. You can -and have!- receive mail without being mentioned anywhere in it, as the delivery conversation is totally separate from the message content.

My contacts are randomly getting an email not deliverable error

Over the last couple of weeks or so (probably since they "upgraded" the email), my ciontacts say that emails are randomly bouncing back as undeliverable to me. They will then re-send it and it may or may not go through. Total crap!! I'm missing important emails. Anyone else having this problem?

Hi - I am getting junk email with no visible sender or message so I can't work out how to tell Mail its Junk. If I look at the mails Long Header there's lots of information (including either obscene messages or get rich quick scams). Any suggestions on how to block these?

Yup, the routine settings didn't work, i also tried adding the additional settings manually, and this did not work either.

"Email to" addresses to autofill

How do I get my "email to" addresses from yahoo to automatically fill in when I send an email? It's not part of the email options because on my PC I can start to type someone's name and the email address automatically comes up for selection. I can't get that to work using Safari.

If you have a free Yahoo! Mail account, you cannot use Mail (or any other email client) to send and receive email; you need to upgrade to their paid Yahoo! Mail Plus account for that ability ($20/year). Considering the unlimited storage you get with Yahoo! Mail, along with the spam filtering, that's very, very inexpensive by any standard.
You can export contacts from Yahoo! Mail in several formats (vCard is the format you want for Address Book), but I do not know if that is a feature of the free account; you would need to check your account to find out.

Email from addresses IN my Address Book are getting filtered to Junk

I thought I had Mail trained. But, when I send mail from a web account of mine to Mail, where the sending account email address is IN Address Book in my own Address Book card, it is getting sent to the Junk Mail mailbox. The same thing has happened to email from a Yahoo Group.
I have the following exempt from junk mail filtering:
√ Sender of message is in my Address Book
√ Sender of Message is in my Previoius Recipients
√ Message is addressed using my full name.
So, how come email that matches one or more of these criteria are getting junked?

Answsering my own question:
This may not be THE answer, but this seems to work.
I gave up and reset the Junk mail filtering and started re-teaching Mail. Only thins, it wasn't doing any good. If I sent email to myself from another email account, it got labelled as Junk. If I told Mail that it was NOT Junk and tried, again, Mail STILL labelled it as Junk.
Maybe no one else does this (or, it isn't causing anyone but me problems), but I had ME in my addressbook (mostly to make sure my birthday got into iCal along with everyone elses), complete with all my email addresses. This was labelled by Mail as "Me" the owner/user.
I tried creating another contact that I called "Mike's Email Addresses". That's what I put in there, all my email addresses. And, I deleted the email addresses from the "Me" account.
Now, sending email from one of my other accounts (the web based @mail.com, for example), to the email address that Mail checks, causes that email to be dropped into my Inbox. Hurrah.

If you have given correct info about you ios 6.1.3 - all you need to do is delete account. You will be able to sign in with new one afterwards. Make sure you don't delete any info when you see those prompts.

If you suspect they are being marked as junk and deleted, turn off the auto-delete. Being that Office is a Microsoft product, you should ask them how to do that: http://www.microsoft.com/mac.

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if it then works

You probably know that mobilme goes away in June this year. There are two ways to access your mail account on iCloud, either through Lion or via the web. Web access won't get you to all the benefits of iCloud but will allow you to get to Mail, Contacts, Calendar, and Find My iPhone. See this FAQ: http://www.apple.com/mobileme/transition.html
If you decide to go with Lion, the maximum memory you can install is 4GB, however the system will only use 3GB, which is enough to run Lion.
