I get mesage that lightening 3.3 is not compatible with firefox 31.0

I have a new computer and installed the latest version of Mozilla Thunderbird on it (firefox 31.0). I like to use the calendar and tried to install lightening 3.3 but it gives the message that it is incompatible with firefox 31.0.
How can I get the calendar running?

To further clarify for us ninnies:
You have to save the Lightning app to disk (Tools | Add-ons | Lightning | Add to Thunderbird | Save to disk ).
Then go back to the main Thunderbird page and select (Tools | Add-ons | (the little gear icon in the upper right corner) | Install Add-on from file | Lightning, etc.) | Open | Install add-on | Restart now )
If you do not have a pre-existing calendar file in Lightning, but do have one in Google, you can export the Google file, then import it into lightning. It may also be possible to directly synch with Google, but I went the Export/Import route and it worked.

According to the Roboform site, I can't upgrade to later versions of firefox and so can't use portable version. on the other hand, i have roboform everywhere, and perhaps that's good enough?

Check with Roboform support about that.
Firefox Portable and U3 Firefox are two completely separate applications, and neither is an official build from Mozilla - they are 3rd party apps.

I have the same issue and I KNOW my backup IS good. What happen is when you try to restore your phone apple says something like can I check for new updates and if you choose no, it just takes you back to the restore screen and a loop from then on. If you dont update from you phone then when you back up you will have the 5.0.1 back up and then when you update to 5.1.1 and then try to restore the backup from 5.0.1 it say it EITHER corrupt or incompatible.. It is incompatible and its hard as **** to restore back to 5.0.1. I followed the restore to a T and still getting errors. I lost all text history and have to reset up email. All just because I wanted a 1.2 Gigs of "other" space back.

I downloaded the correct version of lightning and each time i attempt to install any version it fails and gives me the errors that this version is not compatible with firefox 34.0.5. You can turn off compatibility checking, but more and more of the Google Toolbar will not work. Google is no longer supporting the Google Toolbar so you should use the alternatives.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.

According to a random website... the HTC Wildfire S uses a Qualcomm MSM7225 processor. This processor unfortunately does not support the full ARM version 7 instruction set, so Firefox cannot run on it.

Please read that bug I linked you to and let me know if the last comment in the bug solves your problem. Apparently the problem is about the addon .xpi file being read-only. Try right-clicking it, going to Properties and unchecking the "Read-only" attribute box at the bottom of the dialog. Click Apply, then OK.

Do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

I would hope the problem is that Firefox 5 is not compatible with some of McAfee's additional add-ons. It will be rather worrying if it has a problem with the McAfee security programs themselves. Please state exactly which software and version you are having problems with.
There are known issues with McAfee's Site Advisor [/questions/839953#answer-205178] but it is hoped McAfee will solve that in a few weeks.
