I get no thumbnails in Organizer (just a grey icon)
I use Elements 8.0.
After successfully opened over 900 pictures in Organizer (imported them from my harddrive), suddenly no thumbnails showed up when importing new pictures. Just a grey icon suggesting I should wait (but nothing happens). I deleted pictures from Organizer that I used to see as a thumbnail and tried to import them again but now they don't show up as thumbnails either.
If I click on FIX and EDIT PHOTO the picture show up and I can work with it, but I can't see it in Organizer. I have plenty of space on my hard drive so that is not the problem.
HELP!
Are these large images, perhaps multi-layered?
The Organizer in Photoshop Elements limits the maximum dimensions of an image based on the amount of RAM installed in your computer. The limit is in place to prevent Photoshop Elements from attempting to use too much memory, which can cause the program to slow down or appear to freeze while it is working with very large images.
If an image exceeds the limit, then you can import the image into a catalog in the Organizer, but the Organizer will not display a thumbnail for the image or show the image in a slideshow or other creation.

just installed PS 13 elements and loaded pictures into organizer. after using PS editor now organizer is not reloading. I keep getting error message saying organizer unexpectedly quit, do you want to reopen. When I click on it to reopen it doesn't and I get the same message again. I rebooted computer, still did it, I uninstalled and reinstalled the program and I am still getting the same error message. This is on Mac OS with yosemite. Any Ideas Please!!!

How do I get a thumbnail of the image I'm saving a copy of using Firefox?
I belong to an online Picture View Site which I want to access using Firefox. Certain pictures need to be saved for further categorizing. For quicker access and recall, I need to know how to get the image to save with a thumbnail rather than just a generic 'jpeg' logo. I know that this can be done because I've saved this way using Explorer--I'd find it hard to believe that this functionality not be possible using Firefox. Please advise, thanks

You need to keep the keys pressed for several seconds. Close down Elements. Hold down the CtrlShiftAlt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or hold down the keys whilst clicking on the desktop icon for the Editor or PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in the Programs folder. Keep holding down all three keys until you get the settings option. You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?Click on YesThen wait whilst Elements rebuilds the preferences. Missing thumbnails in organizer (v5)
Why do only some thumbnails display in the organizer? I need thumbnails shown of ALL image files in each folder.
For ex, I copied a bunch of images into a project folder for editing. Only 3 files out of maybe 80 show up as thumbnails in organizer. The original versions in other folders do have thumbnails. I have the folder set to automatically update.Tabasco
Just a late thought-are there possible duplicate files? You said you copied some to a project folder. Elements does not like duplicates (even if in different folders).
Organzier uses tags and collections for subdividing/grouping photos, instead of folders. So if Folder 1 has 50 pictures and you need 10 for a special project, you can tag these with Project 1 and filter on only those. Or you could make a Project 1 collection, do your editing and stuff and then export these to a slide show or disk.
Could this be a reason you do not see the thumbnails? -
Is there a way to get page thumbnails from a PDF without using the PDFThumbnailView. I just want to be able to scroll to a page in a PDFView and grab a thumbnail for that current page.
Your first statement is incorrect. Acrobat hasn't generated embedded thumbnails of pages since version 6.
You mention, CopyToClipboard(), which implies to me that you are trying to do this through the COM interfaces - those are going to be slower than working with the plugin interfaces, but plugins require C/C++. If you do stick with COM, then you should look at the drawing interfaces used by the Static and Active samples in the SDK - those will be much faster than copy to clipboard. -

Instead I get the thumbnail page which Id rather not have. I x'ed out all the thumbnails so only the google.ca one is there but it's not a full page, just a thumbnail. I realize I can enlarge it. This is not a huge problem but I would like it solved.
Just to lay out the recipe all in one place:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''newtab''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''browser.newtab.url''' preference and enter your preferred page:
* ''Page thumbnails (default)'' => about:newtab
* ''Blank tab'' => about:blank
* ''Built-in Firefox home page'' => about:home
* ''Any other page'' => full URL to the page
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?
Note: as per cor-el's suggestion, open the Google page you want and copy the "final" URL from the address bar to paste in when you update this setting. If you use a shortened version, then Google will send Firefox a redirect every time, which is a waste. -
Getting the thumbnail of a LARGE jpeg
Here's the situation: I have a Swing Applet that needs to get the thumbnail of largish JPEGs. For example, a typical digital camera captures a 2000x2000 (or so) image these days. Applets don't get allocated that much memory and can't just load the entire thing in to scale it down.
Is there a good solution to this?
Ideally there would be something in ImageIO like "read scaled instance" that does the scaling as it reads in the data. I'm sure such a thing can be done within JAI. But this needs to be within a run-everywhere applet, so JAI is out of the question.
This seems like an oversight of the Java platform. It should be really simple to just say, "give me a scaled-down version of the image on disk". is there a way?
There's always Plan B which is to write my own JPEG renderer. I can do that but if there's some easier way, I would love to do it.Lol, yeah, that is a bit large for 128x128. I meant to say I was scaling them to 128x128, but the images were 100K to 400K or so. I even had 3MB or more but no matter, it failed.
I would like to agree with you that ImageIcon can handle large images. It seems that it can't handle more than one or two being loaded at one time though, or there is some other issue going on.
Here is a "simple" bit of code that caused OutOfMemoryError problems for me:

I am no musician, but have owned an iMac now for around four years. During that time I have had Garageband installed. I have dipped in and out very occasionally as I would like nothing more than to be able to get my head around it just for my own amusement really. I would at least like to be able to record my electric guitar with loops and tracks etc, just try to be a bit creative and see what comes out. The problem that I have is that perhaps its me, but every time I try to get to grips with this software, I just can't seem to get my head around it, even to begin to do something. I have now recently downloaded 10.0.2 which is confusing in itself, as, as far as I can ascertain that is actually version 11, but I'm not even sure about that. I have also recently purchased a Rocksmith RealTone Cable to connect my guitar. I can sometimes get a sound come out, but nothing to brilliant. And every time I try to set something up, it just doesn't seem to work out. I end up hitting buttons and controls in the simple hope that I may hit the correct control in order to get some sort of result. But I'm kind of fumbling in the dark with this. I have trawled the Internet just trying to find either a good manual or video tutorials for absolute beginners, but there just simply doesn't seem to be anything of that nature out there and what there is appears always to be very sketchy and not particularly detailed in explaining anything properly, and so I always find myself seemingly jumping in with both feet and just struggling to try and find a foothold with this on how to really begin. It is so frustrating as I can see the fantastic potential of this software, but just can't understand how to use it properly. If there is anyone out there who may be able to offer me some advice with this, I would be most grateful indeed... Many Thanks.

Version 10.0.2 is the newest version and the successor to GarageBand '11 (version 6.0.5).
The '11 is referring to the iLife '11 suit of multimedia application - the older GarageBand was a part of this bundle.

I'm just trying to save my favorite website short cut icon to the desktop instead of using bookmarks for everything. In I.E. you have the option to save to desktop your favorite website and you only get a shortcut icon. but in Firefox if you save your website to your desktop you get both the website icon but also a folder. but if I try to remove or delete the folder it removes the icon also. how in Firefox can I get just a shortcut icon for favorite website but without the folder.

The problem has been resolved for me. I am a little fuzzy on how it got fixed.
I only have 3G, so I think I went to the library to use wi-fi.
I think I just deleted the stuck apps, and the downloaded them again. You do not have to pay again when you download a previously purchased app.
It is now August, and fortunately I have not had any stuck apps lately.
As you may already know, you cannot download an app over 20 MB via 3G.
I have the Kindle app also. No new updates lately. I only bought one thing using Kindle. It was a guide to iPad that was only $1.99 or so, but it did not really have anything that cannot be found in normal free Apple guide.
I have borrowed an ebook from the library using Overdrive app. You can choose the ebook version from Kindle.
I don't have any weather apps.

How do I get the thumbnails back on a new tab page?
I get a AVG Secure Search page instead of the thumbnail page now when I load a new tab. How do I get the thumbnails back? I don't have an gear icon on the page to switch it back. This happen after I did a reset of Firefox so that MapQuest would work again which it now does.
What is interesting is that I get thumbnails if I open a second Firefox window and then click on a new tap page.
I've install the searchreset addon with no luck. I've run Microsoft Safety Scanner and no problems have been identified.Bookmark and use this;

This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up
and then resets your search preferences and home page
to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This
affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
If you still have a problem, you may have add-ware on your system.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

Many of the internet radio stations that I usually listen to are no longer working. When I click on them, they either get stuck in connecting or just jump to the next station below. What gives?
Same thing here. Always listened to 96.9 The Eagle but not anymore. Skipped to the next station down.

my ipod classic got wet back in August.. it seemed to work fine for about a month, but recently is not working at all..screen appeared to get cloudy and then it just stopped working. thanks.
Most likely, water damage.
You can try putting your iPod in a tupperware, half filled (maybe half inch) with rice grains, close the cover for about a week.
If you have done this, as soon as it got wet, higher chances of success, now looks like the water moisture is getting to the LCD screen.
Then you can always bring it to Apple Genius bar, for a an overhaul. (may cost you half the price of a new iPod classic.)
