I get this when try to verify my id on FaceTime: the server rencountered an error processing registration please try again later.

While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use FaceTime. There's a FaceTime Support Community where everybody uses FaceTime. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer. https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_app_store/facetime_for_mac

    Hi,
As the Other threads suggests I would check the Date and Time settings on the Mac and compare that with the settings in the router.
Messages (and iChat before that) send Time stamped info to Login and to send IMs.
Obviously most people set their Macs to their Time Zone and nearest city/town.
What people sometimes forget is that their Router/Modem device(s) have to be set correctly as well.
    EDIT
Also Add a Public DNS server to your System Preferences> Network > Advanced Button > DNS  tab
A Google one such as 8.8.4.4 or 8.8.8.8 seem to work well for most people

  • HT204408 FaceTime: "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later."

I just bought my iMac yesterday.  This is my first Mac since I have always used Windows PC so I am still trying to familiarise myself with OS X.  Everything else seems to work except Facetime. Each time I log in to Facetime, it is giving me the error message - "The server encountered an error processing registration.  Please try again later."
I have tried checking the web for possible solutions but none seem to fix the problem.  My date and time are already set automatically. I also checked the hosts file under /private/etc/hosts and it looks like this which seems to be OK.
    # Host Database
    # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
    # when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
    127.0.0.1                   localhost
    255.255.255.255         broadcasthost
    ::1                             locahost
    fe80::1%lo0               locahost
I also checked the Keychain Access for login Certificates and it is empty.
I'm not sure what else to do. Any suggestions please?

While this may be a work around for you, it is most certainly NOT the case that you need a seperate, unique Apple ID for every Apple device you own. There is clearly a bug in FaceTime that is causing problems for users, but creating multiple Apple accounts will only lead to complications later — especially if you use different accounts to purchase apps or other content from iTunes.
I suggest you take the offending device(s) to your AppleStore and get someone to help you out. This is (usually) a free service offered by Apple.
Meanwhile, Apple might lend a hand by focusing on ironing out the bugs from their network services. Network / web services have always been an Achillies heel for Apple, which has consistently had problems with its web / cloud-based services. At hardware solutions Apple is pure genius, but at web and cloud services it truly *****! Lets hope they eventually wake up to the fact that this is detrimental to users' experience of their lovely hardware.

  • I'm trying to get onto facetime and I keep getting a message saying the server encountered an error processing registration, can anyone tell me why?

I'm trying to get onto facetime and I keep getting a message saying the server encountered an error processing registration please try again later. Can anybody tell me what is going on?

I have read over and actioned ALL recommendations many times over, and still get the Facetime error..! I have reset Host file, looked for iphone certificates, set time/date to auto, checked for suspect DNS entries, cleared caches etc etc. It's become a very fustrating problem. Worked fine for a long time but then suddenly stopped.
I wish I could find the solution...

  • After instaliling lion I get this error "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later.

After instaliling lion I get this error  on Facetime "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later."
    what can I do?

YES!! It worked for me too. I tried another suggestion from a different thread and my computer already had the correct host info. So for some reason, Facetime needs the date/time set to automatic.

  • When I try to login to iMessage, I get the error: The server encountered and error processing registration.  Please try again later.

I've been getting this error for two weeks.  I've tried rebooting the computer, resetting my network connection, and double-checking my password.  The chat function works fine on my iPad and iPhone, just not on my computer.  I have OS X 10.8.4 running on a MacBook Pro.
    Any help GREATLY appreciated.

I have encountered the same problem as Wildwing today on my iMac.  Facetime was working fine last week, but at lunch time today when my son tried to call he could not get through, although I was sitting at my iMac compiling an email at the time. Fortunately however I have an iPad Mini, which I heard ringing in another room so I picked up the call on that.
I have noticed that if I go to the  FaceTime tool bar, Preferences is greyed out.
I have tried to sign in again but keep getting this message : 'The server encountered an error processing registration.  Please try again later.'
I have checked the outage on Support System Status, Apple is not reporting any problems.  I have logged on to Apple ID and re-verified both of my Apple IDs (I use a different one for iTunes) and had no difficulty accessing my Apple ID on either account on my current passwords.
Messages which is set up with the same Apple ID as Facetime is working fine on my iMac and both Facetime and Messaes are fine on my Mini.
I have had two Apple IDs for ages, which has never caused a problem before although I am wondering if this is the issue.
Taking the 'try again later' literally, I have been trying that on and off since lunch time and I have rebooted my computer, I am still getting the same Error message.
I am at a loss to know what to do next.  Help please
