I got a new computer and Everytime I try to play anything it freezes and I have to close it

I have recently purchased a new computer.
I downloaded my iTunes software and had my computer authorized
I used sharing to transfer my Music, Movies, and TV programs I have purchased from iTunes to my new computer.
Every time I try to play anything on the computer the iTunes program freezes and I have to close it
I tried to delete and re install iTunes but the old programs come up and not a blank iTunes so I can not
Transfer the programs to my new computer from my iPod.
What can I do so I can use my new computer to sync and buy new movies and musuc?

Yes but all your previous content from the old computer will be erased.

  • I got a new computer and some of my music apparently wasn't backed up to the external hard drive.  I have some of the music that didn't save on an iphone. How do I move the music from the iPhone into my iTunes library on the computer?

I got a new computer and somehow have lost some of my more recently purchased and or imported music.  I have some of that music on an iphone and some on an ipad.  How do I get the music from those devices into my itunes library without losing everything else?

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • Just got a new computer, and I want my songs off my iPod and onto my iTunes

So, I just got my new computer, and I have about 400 songs on my new iTunes. However, on my iPod, I have around 3,000. Some of the songs, however, I no longer have the cds for. I really don't feel like buying or tracking down ALL of those songs again. Is there a way I can get the songs off my iPod and onto my new iTunes? And no, I'm not trying to give all these songs to my friends or anything, I'm just trying to keep them all! If I could get an answer soon, that would be great!!!!
    Thanks!

Connect your iPod to your new computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod.
The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows

iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • I just got a new computer and I want to transfer all the music from my ipod classic onto my computer.

I just got a new computer and want my entire library on my ipod classic to be transferred to my computer.  I transferred as many files as I could from my old computer through my external hard drive, but many of my cds didn't transfer.  When I hook up my ipod, I see it's entire contents.  My question is, does a sync only work from the computer to the ipod, or if I sync my ipod will the songs on it be synced to my computer along with all the playlists?  My biggest worry is if I sync it, it will go back to the factory settings or I lose all my music.  I appreciate any help.

    Yes...
    For iTunes purchases...

So I had an ipod touch, got a lot of my music from my old CD's that i later threw away, then got a new computer and lost all my music on my itunes, but still have it all on my itouch. I just simply want to get my music from my itouch to my computer. I now have a iphone and it would be nice to put some of that music on my phone as well.
    Hope someone can help me!!!
    thanks,
    Sophia

While that may work9I do not think it will) with iTunes purchased music it will not work for other music.
    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - For other music you will need a third-party program like one of those discussed here.

  • I royally screwed things up...  Got a new computer and tried to update catalogs now im having problems.

I got  a new computer and I ma trying to migrate everything over.
My old setup I had half my photos on an internal drive and half on an external drive.
I hooked up my external drive to the new computer and everything synced up very well.  Everything on the external drive showed up.
I decided to move the files from the internal drive to the external one since it worked so well just like the lady in the adobe.tv said to.
When I tried moving the files to the external drive the computer died 10 minutes into the move.  so now i have 1/4 of the files on the external drive and 3/4 are still on the internal drive.
I finally got all the files to the external drive but all the folders are screwed up.   Some photos are in the wrong folders and there are two folders for some projects.  NOW i cant simply just direct lightroom to the new location because of all the folder discrepancies.
Where do i go from here.  Do I just import the folders again?  Do I just import everything on the drive?  Do I make a new catalog?

Step 1 is to clean up the external HD and get the folders as they should be. Only after that can you think about what you might do with LR.
At that point, you should be able to open the LR catalog and reconnect the "missing" files.
