I got a replacement battery but I'm seeing an 'x' in the battery icon...
I got the battery from Laptop Battery One b/c my last battery was lasting 8-10 minutes. I charged the battery and made sure to try to get it charged up and used down through many cycles to help the battery get up to full speed. Today, I unplugged the power cord and the battery icon is not showing % or time left, it simply is transparent with an 'x' in it. And the laptop is still working although if I step away and the battery goes into energy saving mode, it won't wake up until I plug the cord back in and tap it.
what does that x mean and what should I do? I can't imagine this is normal.

I looked at Laptop Battery One's website, and it looks like they make their own batteries, rather than selling Apple-brand batteries. Is this correct?
Also, with modern batteries, you should not cycle the power like that. It is not neccessary to fully charge and fully discharge the battery, and this will probably do more harm than any percieved good. Ideal battery use is something like you take your laptop to work and discharge some power each day, and then charge it back up at night. Basically, just keep the power moving. Don't leave it plugged in all the time (any Mac should automatically discharge about 5% and then recharge to help stay healthy when plugged in for long periods). NEVER fully discharge it if you can avoid it.
SO ANYWAY.... resetting the SMC may help:
Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

I have home sharing on in iTunes but can't see my library when I use the computers icon on Apple TV. iTunes does display my purchased tunes but not my own imports.
I can play my own tunes by selecting them on my iMAC and directing them to Apple TV. I think that I should be able to see my entire library on Apple TV shouldn't I?
Am up-to-date with iTunes and using Mavericks OS. I am connecting to Apple TV with an Airport Extreme 802.11n Wi-FI and a brand new Apple TV.

Is the ATV and computer running iTunes actually on the same network? Many new routers create seperate networks for the wired and wireless portions of the local network. -

when i open iphoto i see my photo's for 1 second and then they are gone .The photo's are still there but i can see them only on the bottom or top of my screen when i try to open them i get a sign that it is not possible.Can somebody please help me?
Have you upgraded to iPhoto 9.6 for compatibility with Yosemite? If not, try that first.
It looks like iPhoto has lost the connection between the thumbnails and the original image files.
This can be caused by a corrupted iPhoto library, or the originals have been deleted or moved.
Try first to rebuild your iPhoto Library:
If you do not have a current backup of the iPhoto library, make a copy of the library, but do not overwrite any previous backup.
Launch iPhoto with the ⌥⌘-key combination (option-command) held down.
Select "rebuild" from the first aid panel. This may take a while for a large library.
Can you now see your photos again?

Im having trouble downloading the iMovie app on my iPad. When I click on the iCloud icon it says that it will download without additional charge because I've already purchased it(I did purchase it) but after that it goes back to the icloud icon and doesnt download. How can I download it?

It sounds like you are trying to download a previous purchase to your iPad but the item never downloads. I would recommend starting by closing all the apps that are running in the background.

The problem appeared two days ago is that I can't open my mail app. everything was fine and functional. Now I double click on the icon and it does not respond. it receives mail and I can see push notifications on the mail icon but when I try to open it is no use. I downloaded an album and it shows up on all my devices but on my iPhone 5 there is the cloud icon on most of the songs but when I tap it nothing happens and I can't play the song. All the songs play on my iPad and MacBook. It seems like my iPhone will not let me download the rest of the songs, and I have 3.5 GB of remaining space. Help!

"The text you provide becomes the email address ([email protected]). An alias must contain between 3 and 20 characters."
This certainly implies that the alias is not required to be your registered name, and only becomes the prefix for a new @me.com address. There might be something going on with the servers right now as they are probably very focused on getting ready for the iPhone 5 pre-order release, which is supposed to happen any minute now. You might have better luck if you waited a while. -
I got a replacement battery, reset the SMC, and my computer will still turn off unexpectedly.
Early 2011 15" Macbook Pro, 2ghz iz, C0*****F8V.
My original battery wore down to the point where it would not be recognized as available and the computer couldn't power on without shutting down in a few minutes. I ordered a replacement battery, certified Apple genuine, but after 3 days it reached about half charge and the computer died, not turning back on without the adapter. When it did reboot the battery was at 0% and not charging, and the computer was incredibly slow and laggy.
I refunded and returned this battery and got a new one. I've had it installed about 2 days and the computer will still turn off if not plugged in at about 80-85%. I have reset my SMC multiple times and my PRAM as well. coconutBattery says nothing is wrong with the battery.
What can I do? I'm a freelance video editor and this is basically calling me out sick from work for a week now.

At any rate, the bottom line is that the MBP does not like your battery even though the output information that you provided does not indicate anything adverse. An Apple battery should correct your problem, I would think, but there is an alternative that I came across yesterday that you might consider. Based on the reputation of the company, I personally would be willing to try their non-Apple branded replacement. I have dealt with them a fair amount, so my statement is from experience. Note that is has a 1 year guarantee as do the Apple batteries. ( I will need a replacement for my 2010 MBP and I will probably purchase it from them)

SamMy experience is that the dropping connection looks like a firmware 6.x issue, whereas losing home sharing already occurred in firmware 5.x Actually, I felt that the losing home sharing problem was at least partially solved in firmware 6.x
I also know that the home sharing issue is quite complicated and may be not related to the Apple TV at all (but more to the network / sleeping computer / iTunes). -
Had Power Adapter replaced, battery icon not showing charge
Hello, hoping you guys can help me out. Recently, my power adapter had burned out (wouldn't show charge/light up at all). I've had it replaced as of today and is working fine (Whoo!), but now a new problem's come up.
I admit I used my battery to it's limit while waiting for the new adapter, and while the light on the adapter is green, the battery icon on my screen is showing 0%. Pressing the button on the battery only gives me one green light.
I've heard something about Re-Calibrating the battery in my manual, but I'm unsure if that's the best course for my case. Here's my Power System Profile, if it helps:

UPS Installed: NoRe-calibrating the battery is typically done with a new battery, where you charge it all the way up, then run it all the way down a couple of times. This calibrates the battery's internal electronics to the actual capacity of the battery. Not a concern here.
Looking at your battery stats, is your battery fairly new? It is showing 56 charge/discharge cycles, does that sound about right? Reason for asking is, if the battery is old, like maybe the original battery that came with the system, sometimes a dying lithium battery throws up screwy stats. If it is an older battery, that may be why it's not charging ... it's dead. However, if it is a newer battery ....
There's only 4 components to the charging circuit - power adapter, dc-in card, battery, and logic board. You have a new power adapter, and the system is seeing the 65 watt power adapter, so the power adapter and dc-in card appear to be OK. That leaves either a battery issue or a logic board issue. Do you have another battery you can swap in, or a friend with the same model PowerBook, or an Apple store nearby? If you swap another battery in, and it starts charging, and the current batter is an older one, then replace the battery. I used this one on mine, and others have had good things to say about it: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/powerbook/battery/g4-15inch-aluminum/ . I would stay away from batteries sold on ebay, as there have been a number of people very disappointed with the lack of quality in the battery they bought.
If another battery won't charge, that would point to a logic board issue. We just had that on one of our PowerBooks, where it would charge, and it wasn't a power adapter, dc-in, or battery problem. The Apple store sent it off to the Apple Depot, for around $350, and they replaced the logic board as well as the battery. If they do more work, like replacing a dented case, the price goes up. If the Apple store replaces the logic board in the store, it costs around $750 or more.
