I got a software update for my iphone today, now I have no contacts! Any ideas as to which cloud they are probably on and how I get them to rain back into my phone please?
Your contacts will only be where you put them.
They will be in whatever program/cloud service that you had chosen to sync.

Thank you for your reply, I did go to my general settings, but for some odd reason I don't have a restrictions setting, or a reset setting. I thought I could reset all the setting to see if it could be that, but as I said there aren't any.
My husband also has the iPad 2, and also did the software update and hasn't had any problems at all. I took both iPad's and compared the settings thinking maybe there could be a setting that could have been changed when the update was done. -

Whilst synching to my PC it said there was a software update for the iPhone.
It is now stuck with a message saying connect to iTunes. I've tried resetting it in various ways but it still comes back to Connect to iTunes, but it won't.

You need iTunes 10.0 or greater to update your phone...iTunes isn't confused at all. If you're on a Mac, you'll need OS X 10.5.8 or greater to update iTunes to 10.0 or greater.

If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.<br />
You may need to remove the Firefox program folder to do a clean install of the new version.
Do a clean (re-)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox. -
Software Updates for Multiple iPhone Household
Why is it necessary to download the software updates separately for each individual iPhone? These downloads take over an hour each time on our high-speed internet connection. Is there no way to download the installer once and use for all phones? Doesn't seem like too much to ask...
Google for more precise directions, but I'm pretty sure that you can download the ipsw file manually, either via Apple Downloads or some third-party site.
And then I believe you Option-click on Update or Restore and can manually browse to the ipsw file you want to use. -
Mac extremely slow since recently downloading latest "numbers" software update. Also Mac when put to sleep, will now wake up by itself and go back to sleep etc, etc. Please Help!

OK, thanks. First, open Disk Utility and the Repair Disk Permissions on your internal HD. You can find DU in Applications - Utilitie. After doing so please restart in Safe Mode, this is easily done by holding down the Shift Key on your keyboard when you hear the start up tone, you will see a progress bar appear letting yuo know it's starting in Safe Mode. Started update for my iphone and now it's stuck in recovery mode
My computer wont recognize it. unistalled itunes and reinstalled it. Tried all the walkthroughs but none worked. Rebooted the computer, no difference. Why did you disconnect it when it showed that screen? That is just one step in the update process. You need to complete the update; that is what that screen says. Just plug it in and let it finish. If it doesn't see this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

If you mean iOS, you can't. iOS 4.2.1 is the last version your iPhone will run.

You'll need to find apps that the developers have kept compatible with older versions of iOS and older iPhone hardware. Or buy a new, or newer, iPhone.

The chances that there will be any further updates to iOS for the iPhone 3G are vanishingly small.

I did the software update for my iphone 4s last night and now my incoming text messages show the person's phone number instead of their name when I get a text. Is there a fix to this so I can see their name and not try to guess who's number it is?
Also, after the update, Siri wouldn't call the people I asked to call. I even tried 3 different people. ThanksI take it you didn't transfer purchases BEFORE you attempted to update your phone? If that's the case and you live in the US you can look at your purchase history and re-download the purchased music using iTunes. If you're outside the US, you're out of luck.
