I got a virus and need to save my data before resetting mozilla thunderbird
I tried to get my messages with my computer and the only messages coming through is a newsletter from Thalia - a german bookstore. I can get my mails with the iphone - but of course I need to use my laptop as well for the communication.
Now - I want to save all the data - mails, attachments... and reset the mozilla - hoping that this will work.

I would recommend saving a copy of your profile; see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb
copy the folder to an separate folder or external drive.
Then you can reload or update TB. The new TB should still use the profile you had before, but at least you have a backup position.

Help! Having Serious Issues and need to save my data!!!
This is probably going to be a long post, and I apologie in advance, but before I give up completely, I need to see if there's anything that I can do to save the data on my computer. Also, I'm writing this from work and don't have access to the system right now, so I'm going to have to rely on my questionable memory to relay the situation.
Since the battery update was installed, I was having intermittent issues with my MBP battery - when I was fully charged, it only showed about 1:45 of time left (down from a usual 3:00 or so). When it would get down to about 50 minutes left, the system would shut off with no warning. I was about to take the system into the Apple Store to get the battery replaced last week, but just to make sure, I followed the instructions to reset the battery and after that was done, it seemed like the battery was fine (showed up as about 3:00 fully charged). But... the system started working very slowly.
As a result, I decided to try to back up the system (I use SuperDuper and backup to an external USB drive). The backup failed mid-stream and my backup file was now useless (that's the last time I use the erase before backing up option). So now I don't have a backup of my data (all of my data is on that laptop).
I tried running Disk Utility, by booting from the installation DVD, to Repair the disk and it stopped with an invalid node error. I tried again, but no joy. A third time, it appears to have completed. However, now when I boot the system, not only is it really slow, but it boots into some unfamiliar linux prompt ("I don't have a name#:", or something like that.
Since I still think that there was a file system problem, I bought a copy of DiskWarrior 4. However, I don't want to wait for the bootable CD, so I tried to install the OS on the external USB drive so I could run it from there. Everytime I tried to install to the USB drive, I got a kernel panic when the IT Tunes install script was loaded. Every time. I tried removing the second (add-on) RAM stick, removing the battery, etc. No joy. Finally on about the 10th attempt, this time on battery power only (no power cable connected), I managed to get the OS to install on the USB drive.
Okay, so now I can boot to the USB drive. I installed Disk Warrior 4 and ran it on the internal hard drive. Kernel Panic. Every time I've run it (error is about unlocking mutex). Even more frustrated now, I tried to backup the disk again (since all my data is on there, I can't afford to lose any of it). No joy. The backup (using SuperDuper or CloneCopyX) fails at various spots. I have some folders on the drive that I tried to copy off (about 7GB) that contain disk images and the like. That copy failed.
So now, I have un-backupable (is that a word) hard drive that I can't repair without kernel panics (although, now as I write this, I didn't try DW without the power cord). And what I need to know is if anyone can think of anything that I haven't tried to save my user data off of the system before I have to take it in to the Apple Store and potentially lose everything that's on it.
My number 1 concern right now is losing the data on the drive.
Can anyone help me at all?

17" MacBookPro Mac OS X (10.4.9) 2GB RAM, 120GB HD, Glossy ScreenYou may not have the luxury of having another Mac but you must know someone who does. You need to boot your Mac into target disk mode. This is going to be your best bet as far as saving your files. Keep in mind that everytime you mess with this computer you are further endangering your data. Also, once your Mac is booted as a target disk, it may be possible to mount it on a windoze computer just to copy your files to another drive. I used to have one here and if i still did I would try this for you but I "offed" it in favor on running windoze (Parallels) on my MBP. But, one way or another, you need to get next to another computer.

WRT310N lost password and want to save basic layout before reset
That is it in a nutshell. I can press RESET but I will lose all the settings in the router. Without the password, I cannot get in to even view what they were/are. I need to modify one setting or I would not worry about it since it is working fine as is. If I could even view the area containg what ports are mapped to what IP it would help as I could try to work with what is in there.
The odd thing is that I have no recollection of actually changing the password. It has been the same for a couple of years and now suddenly it would accept.
Anyone have any ideas?The settings that you need to know are the username and the password from Verison DSL ( your ISP). Apart from the ISP settings there's nothing you need to write down.Reset the router for 20 secs. The WPA encryption will also be disabled.

My windows xp computer got a virus and needed to be wiped.
As i store all of my itunes and iphone stuff on an external hardrive i thought this would not cause a problem.
Got a bit confused when i tried to open itunes again from the back-up hardrive as it would not open.
Wrongly assumed that the best option would be to re-download itunes and move my old itunes info across - silly silly thing to do :/
The new download just over-wrote the old one and after trying a few of the suggestions on here to get my old library back - i still cant work out if its possible as it has been over-written.
I don't want to plug my iphone4 into my computer as i have heard that this can wipe your phone completely, so before i do anything, does anyone know what is the best thing to do from here? or how i could posibly recover my old library, playlists, apps, podcasts e.t.c

My answer does not have the black Apple logo but the hardearned black belt of (bad) experience.
There is one problem with TimeMachine. It can get corrupted out of the blue with no warning and it will not want to restore correctly (as an added "bonus" you get to find this out the "hard" way, when you need it most). Plus it takes ages for the data to be copied back, sometimes days. Haven't tried my 600gb backup on Mavericks but Mountain Lion had this knack of breaking Timemachine after a couple of months.
To back up my entire server is use SuperDuper. It mirrors the drive to an external one (usb for example) The cool thing is you can use that usb drive and start the OS X from it (by holding Alt when you hear the boot chime).
This way you have a working copy of your entire machine. You can even go to another mac and boot it from there. I literally ran the OS X Server in my company from a usb drive on an old MacBook Pro until i got around to fix the problems with the actual server machine.
This has saved me twice already as the Hitachi drives Apple uses, tend to die like clockwork after 4000-5000 hours of use with no warning.

PS. As a sidenote... SSDs are more reliable than a normal HDD (not to mention faster) I can't stress this enough, my Server is on two SSDs now. I can't tell you how stress free the setup is, it doesn't feel like a computer but more like a router, it just works... forever. After two years with SSDs my server has had two days of downtime and their health is at 97%, they will literally last 100 years with normal use. I'd go so far as to recommend you buy an SSD and move your old HDD to an external enclosure and use that as a usb backup. (for SSDs i use Plextor / Lite-On M3s (older) or the M6s (newer)) -
I bought adobe suite 4 student edition a few years ago and I am no longer a student and my laptop in which I have adobe suite has recently got a virus and I must uninstall the adobe suite in or to wipe the computer. If I uninstall the student edition and reinstall once the virus is removed from the computer will I have to go through the student product verification process or can I simply use the product key to reinstall the adobe suite?

You need to set up a separate iCloud account for each person that does not want to share their iCloud data. Yes, I was referring to the iTunes ID not needing to be the same as the ID used for iCloud. In order to set up an Apple ID your children will need to have a valid email address that can be verified by Apple. Apple requires this so they have a way of contacting the owner if there is a problem with the account, such as when you may need to reset the password on the account. When you set up the ID, Apple will send a verification email to this email account and you will need to click on the verificating link in the email to complete the process. If they don't currently have an email account you can just set one up with gmail or another free email hosting service. They don't have to use the account but you will need it to set up the ID. -
my old computer got a virus and so i had to get a new one and install itunes anyway i want to put all my apps and contacts on my new iphone but everytime i go to sync it , it says that it will delete my apps. I linked my computer with itunes but i am still struggling does any one no away around this because i do not want to throw away 40 dollars worth of apps thankyou Mitch.
You can use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy, then you can transfer them from the iphone. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases

This could well be the notorious Mac Defender - which is an annoying program that tricks you into thinking that your Mac is infected with a virus, when the only infection is Mac Defender itself.
When surfing the web never EVER click on a link that says "Free anti-virus scan" or "Scan now" - they are nearly always scams which will end up infecting your computer. Although Macs are resistant to viruses, they're not resistant to user stupidity.
If you Google "Mac defender" then you'll find plenty of sites with instructions on how to remove this minor nuisance. Take this as a warning that you need to be more careful in your surfing habits.

Thanks in advance!No magic required. You simply save it as PDF-X from AI. If the spot colors are based on correct swatches and tagged accordingly, they will appear as separate inks/ plates in the PDF, which you can verify in the ink manager in Acrobat. That's pretty much all there is to it and the print facility should handle this file correctly.
