I got a virus, how do i remove it?

I just got a virus a week ago. I had the spyware sweeper asking to sweep it up. It said it had detected 3 virus'. how can i remove the virus?

You don't have a virus. It's a scam. Ignore it. If you installed something because a web page told you to, then follow the instructions here:

You have viruses because you jailbroke your phone, and now you're probably spreading them to other phones. Nice.
Jailbroken phones are generally bricked for good. Throw it away, it's junk.

  • I have a virus, how can I remove it

All of the sudden I have all of these pop ups.  I think that this virus has even invaded my campus email?  What is the best way to scan my computer (free) and remove this?

Click here and follow the instructions, or if there’s a type of adware not covered by them on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

  • Popup said I have a Trojan Virus, how do I remove?

While browsing news I got a popup with an Android picture that said I caught a Trojan Virus and offered an option to clean. Not knowing if that would "activate" the virus I closed out of the site. Now I'm worried that I have a virus. Is there a way to do a virus scan and repair on my LG phone?

Along with antivirus app, backing out of the page is usually yields no problem.  It's more of a popup than an executable.  Those pop ups normally take you to a page where you have to actually download the app.  Chrome typically asks via bottom-of-screen pop-up if you are sure you want to install x file.  this is also a good time to make sure "Unknown Sources" is unchecked and "Verify Apps" is checked.

  • I think i have the Mac Shield Virus, how do i remove it?

I stupidly clicked on a MacShield pop-up telling me my computer was infected and requesting me to download it.  I stopped halfway through and binned the download but i keep getting pop-ups from spam/**** now and keep getting requests to register the program.  Can i get rid of this myself and how much damage is it doing to my system?
    Thanks in advance.

It is not a virus. There are no viruses that affect or infect OS X. This is a phishing scam to get your credit card number for software that is absolutely worthless.

  • My adapter got broken. How do I remove the broken part that is stuck in the AC port?

My laptop is HP Pavilion DV 6700

So the barrel part that plugs in the hole broke off down inside? The only way I know to get that is with very fine needle nose pliers. You have got to get a grip on the edge of the barrel. The ac adapter jack in the laptop can be replaced separate from the motherboard if all else fails.

Hi, I'm having a problem, everytime I search for anything, a floating banner appears in the lower part of my search. sometimes I close the banner, but another one appears and I also have a message in each page that said : "This page as insecure content, Load anyway or don't load (recommended)", eventhough I always said "Don't Load" it keeps appearing... Do anyone can help me remove it? please its really anoying!
    Thank you

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • My internet provider informed me my Mac has been infected with a Flashback virus.  How do I remove it?  I have Macbook OSX 10.5.8

My internet will be cut off in 48 hours unless I remove this virus.  I got an e-mail saying I was infected with this flashback virus.  I called Rogers to confirm that it wasn't a phishing e-mail and it is legitimate.  The only thing they did was give me numbers to a paid technical support line, I'd prefer not to call and pay.  I went online and found a tutorial for removing it using Terminal, which I tried and got the error messages which apparently means I'm not affected.  Help!  How do I remove this virus before my internet gets cut off?
I am operating a MAC OSX 10.5.8 software system on my macbook

    Maybe
F-Secure's Flashback removal tool - http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/trojan-downloader_osx_flashback_k.shtml - supposedly also works on OSX 10.5 and earlier.
Something you should consider is upgrading to Snow Leopard since then you (for at least a few more months) will still get security updates from Apple which would cover this issue.

  • My Iphone has family emails that appear randomly when I try to update apps or generally have to log into my account. It comes up as my sister in laws address. She was once connected to our account when she got her phone at first. How can I remove?

My Iphone has family emails that appear randomly when I try to update apps or generally have to log into my account. It comes up as my sister in laws address. She was once connected to our account when she got her phone at first. How can I remove? There are only two other email address's associated with my account and hers was never one of them! I do have a cloud set up on my phone. I thought this issue had gone away when I canged my passwords, but I just registered a new phone yesterday and its happening again!
    Can anyone help me?

Apps are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them, and all future updates will require you to enter the password associated with this ID, whether you are currently using this ID for purchases or not.  If you are being prompted for your sister-in-law's Apple ID when updating it means that there must be one or more apps on your phone that was purchased using her Apple ID.  (When she synced with your computer it may have transferred this app to your library.  It was subsequently synced to your phone.)  The only way to stop the prompt for her ID is to delete these apps from your phone and your iTunes library and repurchase them using your Apple ID.
