I got a virus

After using windows on bootcamp, my Norton told me I had a Trojan horse
Apparently, it nuked it, but could it have infected my Mac Os?
I was using Mac drive to use my Mac hard drive too.
I just want to make sure my Mac os is safe!
Need I worry?

If you want to be technical, it's not a "virus."
If you want to be truthful, and you care what words mean, a Trojan horse is not a virus, and there >are currently NO viruses at all that can attack OS X.
Ok you win, a trojan is NOT a virus, but I'm sure that you can agree that trojans can do similar damages (i.e. undesirable things happening to your computer; a virus may delete all your files but a trojan can allow someone to SEE your files and can possibly lead to ID theft)
And also a worm is technically not a virus, but the biggest difference is "Worms are programs that replicate themselves from system to system without the use of a host file. This is in contrast to viruses, which requires the spreading of an infected host file." (Taken directly from Freddie Herbst's link) So in theory it might not be called a virus because of the way it spreads but according to the experts worms can do the exact same damage as as virus.
You may be correct that there are no viruses for Mac OSX but there have been viruses for older versions of Mac OS.
Torjans and Worms do exist in OSX and according to the OP...

... he clearly afraid of getting trojan horses. Yes they do exist and it cannot hurt to have yourself protected.
ClamXav is a great free AV program that I haven't had many issues and is recommended by many. VisurBarrier by intego is now in version X6 and is not free but offer the best protection. It's like Norton for a mac.

I bought adobe suite 4 student edition a few years ago and I am no longer a student and my laptop in which I have adobe suite has recently got a virus and I must uninstall the adobe suite in or to wipe the computer. If I uninstall the student edition and reinstall once the virus is removed from the computer will I have to go through the student product verification process or can I simply use the product key to reinstall the adobe suite?

I linked my computer with itunes but i am still struggling does any one no away around this because i do not want to throw away 40 dollars worth of apps thankyou Mitch.

You can use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy, then you can transfer them from the iphone.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
    Or you can redownload them:

  • My current laptop is about 3 years old. Got a virus and had to wipe it clean. Now my IPod touch 2nd generation won't recognize this computer as the one it was originally assigned to.  what do I need to do to safeguard my tunes on the Ipod touch.

My current laptop is about three years old and got a virus.  Had to wipe it clean.  Now my Ipod Touch-2nd generation is not recognizing it as the primary original computer and says it is registered on another computer.  What can I do to safeguard my library of songs on the Ipodtouch.  Any suggestions?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your iPod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your device for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • I got a virus on my computer and it deleted all of my stuff. is there a way to move my music back to itunes from my ipod?\

I got a virus on my computer and it deleted all of my personal files is there a way to push my music back to itunes? i tried to sync but it only moved a small amount of my music.

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.

  • Problem with Recovery Partition(After i got a Virus)

    Hi all,
I am using HP Envy 15 notebook with windows 7 home premium x64-bit installed.I didnt create the recovery disks since i got this notebook and what happened is that i got a virus from the internet but i almost repaired all system faults caused by it but the main problem for me is that it change all main drive folders name into Virus1232 for example (d:\recovery changed into d:\virus1234) and i spent hours over the internet to get the right folder and file names and i got them all but only one file not sure of.My problem is when i enter the Recovery Manager it doesn't detect any my recovery partition(but the virus isnt responsible for any file deletion it just caused some system changes) and just to speak i also corrected the folder and file names in c: drive since they are needed too.
    These are the filenames i got in D: drive : bootmgr - BT_HP.flg - CSP.DAT - DeployRp.log -  HPSF_Rep.txt - language.ini ; and the filename let is the one im not sure of: "HP_WSD.dat" (it is a zero-byte file).
The recoverymgrdump.txt works right untit "CSBRMgr::GetRPTOOLPartIndex leaving!"
    then it tells me :
"Win32 System Info Code = 3, Info Message = The system cannot find the path specified."
    and it also say :
    "CSBRMgr::HpcdFlgIsExistInUP <UP>:\WINDOWS\hpdrcu.prc does not exist."
I dont know if that is normal but also the deployrp.log gives me this error:
    "Package does not exist: c:\RM\Tools\DeployRp\WinPE_LangPacks\64\winpe-setup.cab"
ofcourse there are more errors in both files but i guess those are the most important.
So my question is: could the file attributes in d: drive be responsible for this error(i changed all attrbutes to be system hidden and read only)
    OR
If anyone have a solution please tell me what to do.
    Thanks.

  • Is it true iPhone got a virus?

Is it true iphone got a virus?

There is no known malware of any kind for any iOS device, unless that device has been jailbroken.
If your iPhone has been jailbroken, then there is malware that could infect it. Jailbreaking removes all security on your phone. If you have done this, you need to restore your iPhone to factory settings, and don't jailbreak it again in the future. If you do decide to jailbreak it, or leave it jailbroken, risking malware will simply be something you'll have to accept, with the knowledge that there is no anti-virus software for the iPhone.

  • I got a virus on my PC and had to reinstall I-tunes.Now I can't add anymore

I got a virus on my PC and had to reinstall I-tunes. Now I can't add any new songs onto my I-Pod Nano. After wiping the PC clean and downloading the I-Tunes again, it recognises my i-pod but the library is empty in the i-tunes player, but the songs are still on the ipod itself. I can add songs to the library but if I sync it, the songs are not added to the i-pod. However, for some reason, it will let me update the podcasts that I had already previously added to the ipod, does this help explain it a bit better

I'm having the same problem and cannot find help. Please let me know if you figure it out.
