I got an iPhone 3gs!! i tried updating it to iOS 6!! but then went off in between after it stopped and remained stucked! i pressed the power button nd the hme button 2geta! then it went off.... now when i switch it on.. it goes on then off then on.. help!
i have an iphone 3gs........it is not jailbroken........I was updating to iOS 6!! THen a box came up saying ios 6 will install in 5 seconds................ after wards....... it shut down then restarted.............. the apple logo came up and then below it was a bar.......... it had to be full to complete the installation ............ after a few minutes the bar stopped in between and remained stuck!!! then i pressed the home button and the powerr button together........ it turned off!!! then i restarted it ......... the apple logo comes up then goes off!! it happens and is not stoping until i press the power button once!! whenever i m starting it ....... the apple logo is coming up then goes off ... plz help me........... my father will scold me!! plz :'( plzz :'( thank u.......... :'(

Which way are you trying to update - iTunes or WiFi in the iPad settings? Try switching from one method to the other method. If you don't have a computer and need to use WiFi, try closing all apps and then reboot your iPad and try again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of all of the apps in the recents tray. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar when you are done.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
It wouldn't hurt to reboot your router either by unplugging it from power for about 30 seconds, plug it back in, let it fully start up and then try to update again. -

If you used your backup to restore the data after it got returned, set it up as new device and don't use the backup data afterwards. It seems that some data inside the backup are corrupt. Follow this article and set up the account info and other setting manually after that:

My friend had an iPhone 3GS and the updated it to IOS six and it wasn't laggy at all.
I strongly recommend updating to it, As it's one of the latest stable versions of the OS.
Look up some YouTube videos on people's outcomes.
Worst case scenario you can always upgrade to an iPhone 5 haha. -

Only the carrier it was originally locked to can officially unlock it. Unfortunately, it the only way to determine the original carrier is to update the phone, re-locking it, then trial and error with SIM cards. Even if you find that carrier (may not necessarily be in your country), not all carrier offer unlocking. May be best to sell it an buy a factory unlocked phone if available where you are.

I would not be concerned with you iPod being comprised.since that really can' be done on a non-jailbroken iPod. I suspect it was a popup associated with Reddit. Someone is trying to get you to do something via social engineering. Apple wold not allow you to "update" the Apple camera app.

iPhone 3GS, which should be compatible with IOS 5, will not upgrade. I have synced with iTunes and it says there are no further updates, and there are no software updates available on the phone, and yet in the 'about' section of General Settings it says it is running version 4!!

Yes, upon checking the model number it looks as though it is actually an iPhone 3G!! The box said 3GS but I think my friend must have given me the wrong box!

i got my iphone 3gs.. and since i updated it to 5.O from 4.1 ive noticed a recurring shut off when im open any of my application..
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup, then as new). Has any of this been tried?

I have a 16GB iPhone 3GS. Tried synching my phone through iTunes (11.0.1 I think... on a 2009 Macbook Pro). Now when I connect to iTunes, it says it does not recognise the content on my phone. Is this because my phone (and laptop) are too old?
Also, when I tried to Restore the settings, an Error Message pops up that says " The iPhone software update server could not be contacted. The requested resource was not found.
I'm trying to free up space on my phone by removing [literally] thousands of old photos which were originally synched to the phone, because I had forgotten to uncheck the photos button when I synched it ages ago.
I have also tried synching it on my 24" iMac (running OSX Snow Leopard). But again, when I try restoring the phone through itunes, it says the file is corrupted. It sggests unplugging the device, and then plugging it in again. I have done this numerous times with no success.
I'm guessing it must be because my phone (and versions of iTunes, and OSX) are all too old.
Please can anybody help.

In order to allow it to be used on a different carrier, the phone was hacked or jailbroken. An unauthorized modification was made to the phone. That modification has damaged the phone. You can not get support for it here or from Apple. -

Why, if it told you you have insufficient space on your computer, would it suggest making more space available on your phone?
At a guess, you have insufficient space on your phone. Installing software will typically require more space than the final size of the software, perhaps even twice or three times as much, for the installation process. You can easily dump some videos or music temporarily, and then synch them back in afterwards. -
