I got an ipod touch from a friend and am having a problem switching the apple id to mine for updates and new apps. What do I do?

I have set up an id, however everytime I click to update apps it comes up with my friends old id. How do I change this so I can update my apps?

Apps will always be tied to the account from which they were purchased, and will always have to be updated using that account.
It sounds like the apps were purchased by your friend. You will need to buy your own apps.

As I responded in your other thread:
iOS devices' warranties are valid only in the country of purchase. Any repair or replacement under the warranty would require that you ship the device back to your cousin in the US.

Try going to Settings>Store and sign out and sign back in.
It also could be due to an Apple server problem. and yu will just have to wait and try again.

put the phone in DFU mode (do a search for how to do this) and restore to the latest firmware. you may have to download the firmware from apple and when selecting restore or update in itunes press the shift key and select the firmware.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

You must have wi-fi router and you should be able to use iTouch easily. I have no problem with mine.

Yes, get your "friend on the street" to remove the Activation Lock by entering their AppleID password, or by going to the iCloud website and removing the device from their account.
The Activation Lock is a security feature and cannot be bypassed - if it could be bypassed it would be a useless security feature.
