I got My iPhone 4s and restored using an Old Backup of my 3Gs

Out of the box the iPhone 4s started fine. I synced it without a problem refering to a previous backup of my iPhone 3Gs.
Network issues meant I did not use it as my primary phone for 4 days and phone still had my apps and old contacts.
When I finally got my new account active I backed up my 3Gs and 4s and proceeded to restore on my 4s overnight using my 3Gs data.
When I woke in the morning my 4s was stuck with an Apple Logo and a progress bar down the bottom with no movement and at 0.
iTunes recognises the 4s and shows me the breakup of data on my mobile but does not recognise any settings for Apps, Music, Photos.....etc.
In PC terms it is like it has loaded the operating System but has frozen trying to load settings.
In trying to restore to a 4s Backup it tells me that it fails because the mobile is Pass Code Locked.
I would like to go back to the state it was in when I got it. Out of the box!

I want to ensure you're able to restore the service to your iPhone 4s!  First, let's try reprogramming the device by dialing *228 Option 1.  Once the device completes the "over-the-air" programming, you should be able to successfully make and receive calls and data.  Please let me know how this works out for you.

my iphone 5 has restored to an old backup after updating to ios 7 is there any way of getting my stuff back as this has now become the most recent back up?
also since the update it keeps resetting itself? i had a lot of stuff on there that i really wanted and alot of important info lost? please help!!

You might be able to remove the recent backup from the backups folder and the old one should be usable at that point
USE EXTREAME CAUTION WHEN ACCESS THE FILES AND DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Note: The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your home folder, Option-click the Go menu.
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

I have a new iPhone 4 and duirng setup, I restored a backup of my old 3GS, but the calendar is now blank?
Does an iTunes backup not include the calendar?
The backup was from mid-september and I think iTunes was the latest version at the time..

This will happen if you have photos in your camera roll and an out-of-date scanner or webcam driver. See this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1502

  • Trying to delete content and settings from iPhone 4 and restoring with an iBackUpBot backup?

So after iOS 7, I'm experiencing a lot of problems with my iPhone 4 (8gb) with things like the storage filling up too easily with messages. I read a lot of articles online on how to fix the problem and I'm using iBackUpBot to delete all of the SMS attachments. I already did that and I'm ready to put the backup on my phone, but I have to erase all content and settings (right?). So I go into the settings and when I press "Erase All Content and Settings", it comes up with a screen that says "Enter Passcode." I assumed it was your Apple ID password so I entered that but it said "1 Failed Passcode Attempt." Is there any other way to wipe your phone? I have wiped my phone before but I don't remember this happening and I definitely don't remember setting some sort of passcode for this. Or do you reset your phone? I'm just very confused and really need help because it just seemed so easy in the articles I read. All answers are extremely appreciated. Thank you!!

    Hi lparisi1117!
If you have made backups and confirmed that they are saved, then you can completely erase the phone by using the information in this article to put the phone in recovery mode:

  • I just got an iPhone 4 and I'm trying to use it on tmobile. I have restored the phone but every time I put in my SIM card for t mobile it says no service. How can I fix this?

I just got an iPhone 4 and I'm trying to use it on the t mobile network. The thing is, I've tried restoring the phone so I could use it. I haven't tried my sim on other phones yet. But I will try to see if it works. The iPhone is supposedly factory unlocked btw. Anyways, when I put in my tmobile sim, it searches for the service, but it always ends up saying NO SERVICE. I checked that my network says that the "phone not allowed". So I don't have 3G on this phone I presume. I heard that you need 3G to have service is that correct? But how do I resolve it? The iPhone does know that my phone carrier is tmobile. It just says no service. And I've tried restoring it three times and turning it off and on and it won't work. I don't have a data plan for tmobile tw! Hopefully someone can help! Thank you so much in advance!

If a phone is sold from one friend to another and wants to use it on a different carrier the friend can contact the carrier it was sold by to request it unlocked.  I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed.  eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money.  I sell phones for a living and this happens a lot

  • I just got an iPhone 5s, and I restored from a previous back up and now I can't restore the phone without "turning off the find my iphone setting"?

I just got an iPhone 5s, and I restored from a previous back up (mistake) and now I can't restore the phone to start again without "turning off the find my iphone setting" but it's using an old email address as the icloud login, which i don't have a password to / never used for an icloud account. I have gone and changed my settings to a different email on my icloud / apple ID but on my phone it won't let me change the email address for icloud, it's greyed over and keeps trying to verify?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

Did you by chance have photo stream turned on? If so then they might be there. When you restored your phone it deleted everything and they will be unretreivable from your computer.

        Hi Atomboy12,
Congrats on your iPhone 6! Are you wanting to give the device to another VZW line? Is the line on your account?
    Thanks,

  • I recently got an iPhone 5s and tried to transfer all my stuff from my old iPhone 4s but it wouldn't let me do it with iCloud so I set it up as a new iPhone and updated it, will I now Beale to transfer everything with iCloud or will I need to do it laptop

I recently got my iPhone 5s and tried to restore it with the stuff on my old iPhone but I couldn't because the iPhone 5 didn't have the recent update, so I set it up and a new iPhone, will I be able to use iCloud to restore now or will I need to use my laptop ?

I had this problem too after i upgdatd to OS X Mavericks... only the songs on my iphone 5s that i purchased from itunes would play.
i read something about it being a syncing issue. when you plug your phone into your computer with the usb cable, the person said to switch from automatic syncing of itunes to the "manual" option. mine was already set to manual so i wasn't sure anything would work. BUT, when i plugged my phone into my computer, it started to sync all of my music on my phone again (top of itunes bar where song playing/time is listed said "now syncing 123/534 songs to x's iphone"). once that was completed, i checked the music app on my iphone and everything was back to normal!
so, i would suggest setting your music syncing settings to manual if you haven't tried that yet!
    hope this helps!

  • HT1871 Hello i have one IPhone 4S and I use 3G net in my mobile sometime I have problem with temperature in my phone at the SIM card or battery how can I fix this problem. By update or version of 6.1.3

Hello i have one IPhone 4S and I use 3G net in my mobile sometime I have problem with temperature in my phone at the SIM card or battery how can I fix this problem. By update or version of 6.1.3

Could it be because the SIM card got damaged while I cut it to fit the IPhone?
Very likely. Hard to believe the carrier in Mexico doesn't have a micro-SIM card available.
Or somehow the Chinese carrier found out and locked it?
    No, which is not possible.
What can I do? Get a new SIM and see if it works again?
Get a micro-SIM from the carrier in Mexico that you don't have to manually cut down. If that carrier doesn't provide one, switch to another carrier that is not so low-budget.

i just got the iphone 4 and my husband already had on. we share an itunes account and i signed up for i cloud and now ALL  of my husbands contacts are on my phone ... so I started to delete them (because i thought it would just be off my phone) and he called screaming ..." please stop deleting ...  they are coming off my phone!" so two things ...  how can i get the contacts back ( i got up to j) AND is there a way to get them off just my phone

Unfortunately there's no way to get back the contacts you deleted unless he backed them up somewhere else.  He'll just have to recreate them.  This happened because you are both syncing contacts with a shared iCloud account.  When you do this, the synced data is merged and any actions you take on one phone (such as deleting contacts) is also reflected on the other.  To fix this you both need to have separate iCloud accounts (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).  To do this, on your phone go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The other phone will not be effected by this.)  Next, set up a new iCloud account on your phone using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload your data to your new account.  At this point you will have two different iCloud accounts, one for each phone, with identical data on them.
You will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the unwanted data (such as deleting the your husband's contacts from your account, and vice versa).  These changes will be reflected on each phone.  When finished you will have individual iCloud accounts with just your own data on them.
