Just reinstall OS X. Boot up your Mac from the OS X installation disc and follow the instructions. Before you select the installion hard drive, choose Utilities > Disk Utility from the menu bar. In Disk Utility, select the hard drive and choose "Erase". Then close Disk Utility and install OS X.

I bought an iphone from a yard sale because the person said it wouldnt charge. I got it to charge but it has all her information on it. My mom also put a restriction code on it and forgot it. I am afraid if i take it to an apple store they will think i stole it. I have no clue what to do. Please help me.

Hi. I'm in need of great help as I do not understand how this could have happened.
I had my firefox on, with multiple tabs and windows as I was doing intense research for a paper. My screen then freezes up, but my mouse could still work. Having experienced this before, I immediately pressed and hold the power button till my macbook pro shuts down.
After which, I switched it back on. To my horror, everything was resetted to factory settings: my desktop background was replaced, the fonts on the clock display were different. But this wasn't so bad.
After which, I realised that my dock went missing, together with the icons. I clicked the apple drop down menu, and my screen hanged momentarily, and in that moment everything on the screen disappeared (including the upper dock) for a few seconds and appear again. Meaning, i cant click the drop down.
Similar thing happened with my spotlight. Using the hot keys command-space, the dropdown appeared on the top right, but when i started to type, the screen disappeared and appeared again like before.
Finally i checked my applications folder, and it seems like all the applications are missing, like they have never been installed before! Their folders are there, but the icons and apllications themselves aren't. No applications/software installed- not even the utilities and system preference softwares that came with the macbook.
Luckily though, all my documents are safe. I just cant open them because my iworks and adobe are all missing and "not installed". I cant even access the internet. I'm doing this via my iPhone.
So basically i cant do anything because my apple drop down menu is unreachable, so is my spotlight, and my apps/softwares like system preference, utility are all missing. Is there a way i can troubleshoot this? Or make my macbook work again? I have already restarted and shutdown and switch it back on again near five times.
I know my explanation is long, but do help me if you can. I'm really at a lost right now...Hi

The repair disk was successful. Unfortunately when the system restarted to boot my startup disk, I faced the exact same problems as I did previously. I also did a hardware test, but no problems were found.
Even tried powering off and on the macbook pro again but the same problems remained...
I tried to back-up my files too but they refuse to copy/move into my hard disk drive folder.
Nothing works.
Do you have other ideas? Or suggestions?

What happens is that ALL the playlists on your iTunes library will appear on the iOS device, your iPhone, but the songs have to be manually added to the devices.

If anyone can please help me, I would like to continue using iMessage on my laptop, but none of my new conversations exist only the older ones. I went into the iMessage preferences to delete my old number off the iMessage account and added my new number and email but I still don't get any new messages. Please and thanks.If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.

Got diet Coke into my macbook pro, but it still works
Hi all,
About 2 weeks ago diet coke got sucked into my MBP. I dried it out, took it to the apple store, got it checked out and it was kept over night to test; came back passing all the tests.
I have witnessed no decrease in speed and the only problem I've had since is I had to restart the computer a couple times due to the trackpad not working.
Is there a possibility of it dying down the road? I'd rather replace the computer with all my data in tact now than wait for the thing to die.

All kidding aside, your concern about failure is valid as the carbonic acid in fizzy drinks likely accelerates corrosion. Only time will tell how much damage can occur. I highly recommend that you create a bootable clone with SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner in order to preserve your data in case of failure or need to troubleshoot.

My External Hard Drive used to work on my Macbook Pro but it has now stopped working?
I was using a Seagate Expansion Portable Drive which used to work on my mac just fine.
but lately the hard drive will start humming once I connect it to the mac and then but it wont show up under devices and the blue light on the hard drive wont light up.
I have checked my USB ports, and they are all working fine.
If somebody knows the answer to this question would you please help

Just to be clear Mac's can read/write FAT32 but windows cannot use OS X Extended. So to use a drive on both systems it needs to be formatted FAT32
FAT32 does have limitations and possibly the best solution is to use NTFS, a more modern, robust filesystem. The drawback here is that OS X does not natively read NTFS so a third party kernel extension is needed. -
I have an iPhone and when I got it, I had a Toshiba laptop. Now I have a MacBook Pro, but when I try to wi-fi sync my iphone and new computer, it doesn't work because on my iphone it is still trying to sync with my old computer. How I can fix this?
Move the content from the old computer to the new computer.
Sync the iPhone via cable to the new computer and enable Wi-Fi syncing.
It should now be possible to sync via Wi-Fi to the new computer. -
Just got brand new macbook pro (13inch) and restored all data from old mac via time machine. Now when I p/back a track in logic I get audio drop out for 3-4 secs every 10 - 15 secs!! What is going on and what can I do? Its the same version of logic and all other functions seem fine!
First of all, why did you say yes to Nero Back up before researching what it does with files already on the HDD? When I install Nero, the Back Up is the first thing I disable, it is a nagging pain, there are much better backup programs available. There are several file recovery programs out there to recover deleted files, that is, if that is what happened. Also, if you haven't overwritten the files, so you should be able to find them.

imported old computer via time machine into new 2012 macbook pro, but its still running ilife 09 instead of 11?
I am assuming you had iLife 09 on the old computer - when you moved everything over, that came along with it.
I also have older versions of iLife (on install disks) and just recently got a new 2012 Macbook Pro. I noticed that iMovie 11, iPhoto and Garageband (I think) are listed in my Mac App Store Purchases with a notation to "accept". So you might want to check MAS to see if the apps are sitting there.
Now, I have chosen not to accept them for now for two reasons: I have iLife 11 on a disk and prefer that rather than having it tied to MAS/Apple ID and as long as I have my disk version installed, I also still have iDVD which I use a lot. I'm not sure if "accepting" those three from MAS would wipe out my iLife 11 installs including iDVD (which would be unacceptable for me). So, since I already have the latest version, I've opted to ignore the "accept" and, in fact, will leave it like that - if I ever sell this machine, the buyer can then accept them if they want with their own Apple ID. So before accepting the apps (if they are listed in MAS), you might want to check to make sure that your iLife install isn't wiped out - that is, if you have iDVD and want to keep it. -
