I got the Mac error code -36 while trying to move a backup file

I got the Mac error code -36 while trying to move a backup file (made by Time Machine) to another drive. The full text of the error message is:
The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “boot.efi” can’t be read or written. (Error code -36)

It's a disk error. Although Apple documentation says you should be able to copy Time Machine backups in the FInder, that doesn't necessarily mean it will work. I suggest that, instead of copying the existing backup, you start a new one on the other drive, and keep the old one. You need more than one backup anyway.

You don't move programs, you install them. If you need to download PSE11, you can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.

Error code 36 - while trying to back up to an external hardddisk. I have tried everything

Hi,
When I try to get af back up of my files on my Macbook Pro I get error code 36!
I am nearly desperat! I feel like I have tried almost everything to get a back up of my computer and nothing helps.
My Mac Book Pro began to be very slow for a few weeks ago and I can hardly use it any more, so I decided i would take a back up before i will try to get it repaired or formatted. But then the errorcode 36 failure pops up!
I have tried to download and run the proversion of this yesterday:

Okay so there is NOT point in buying a New external harddisk to try and back up from time machine...
I have taken a back up of all that didnt made errorcode 36 about a weekend ago, but I dont have a back up og all from before this problem started...
I learned the hard way always to take back up from now on...
I still hope that there is someone who know show to fix the errorcode 36
- at least there are many solutions online - just havnet worked for me :-(

Error Code-50 when trying to copy or delete files on external hard drive

Hi,
I am in process of backing up large HD video files from one external hard drive to another using Carbon Copy Cloner software. I get this error message: "This file or folder is sitting on a bad section of hard disk media and is unrecoverable. Delete this item (i.e. in the Finder) and restore it from a known good backup, then try the backup task again."
I have tried to delete that folder in Finder and I get error code-50, it won't delete.
I tried to delete individual files within folder - error code 50.
I tried to "replace" folder with good copy from other external hard drive. Error code-50
I tried to "repair disk" in Disk Utility application and I get error message "cannot unmount disk."
NOTE: the files in this folder are .m2ts format, from an old PC. I converted then into .mov but want to retain originals.
NOTE: I was successfully able to copy the folder from a 3rd external hard drive to the backup disk without a problem (which makes me think it's not the files/folder but has to do with the actual disk.), but cannot fix it on the original (source) disk.

How do you fix a "bad section of a hard disk"?
Might reformatting the entire disk fix the "bad section"?

• from where/what format ? iTunes, .avi, .mp3, .aiff, else ?

I fixed the problem.. but it was very, very strange. I had a very long section for credits and set the line spacing to 1.0.. for some reason this caused it. I removed it, and it worked fine. I put it back, and I couldn't preview or play the video.
I don't know why that could cause that big of a problem, but it did..

After phone support from apple I ended up creating a new project and adding all 117 clips back in individually till I found out what clips flagged and would not allow me to export. I had 3 I deleted and replaced and everything works now 1hr after tedious work....
Where do Your material come from
• Camera
• External hard disk
• USB-memory
And all are connected so that iMovie can find it ?

Error Code 43 while trying to update CC desktop app

Hi there,
I'm getting Error 43 while trying to update CC desktop app. OS is Mavericks 10.9.4. It gets as far as 63% than the following error:
Installer was unable to access a critical file/directory. Please try installing again.(Error code: 43)
Guessing this is a permissions problem, but not sure where to look/start.
Edit to add: I'm on the Free Trial at the moment, if that makes any difference. All applications are working fine, otherwise.
Any ideas?

I can not update n8-00 software, keep getting error code 12017after a few second of install, I have got latest versions of ovi suite and software updater. Phone is unlocked. Son has same phone locked to Optus and he updated ok on same computer. Phone current ver. is 011.012, trying to update to 013.016. Any help would be great.

Why on earth do Nokia put out software that fails with error code 12017 and the instruction to re-install the OVI suite?
Using the suggestion of stopping the Internet Connection Sharing service worked but you would never of known that that was the issue despite the casual remark that "I just turned off ICS at Services and update worked fine".

Hi I was having the same problem using ADE 2.0.
I contacted the LiveChat support (link button did not show when using Firefox 31), which gave me this link. http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-editions/kb/error-e_act_not_ready.html
After I edited the Registry and then restarted ADE I was able to ReAuthorize my machine. Hope this works for you.

MacOS Error code: -116 when trying to open .sql backup

I desperately need to open this .sql file, but I'm getting an error:
(MacOS Error code: -116)
I don't know of a solution, but I looked it up and found it listed under Mac OS9 Error Codes, something about not being able to verify or check the file size.
I'm on Mac OSX Snow Leopard.
Is there a solution for this so I can open the file?

@Daniel your problem is completely unrelated to the OP - start a new thread.
@Gravity when you say you want to open it, does it mean you want to run the SQL commands on some existing database, or just look/read what SQL commands are in it?
if the former, what database are you working with?
if the latter, try to open it with a simple text editor. for example, go to Applications>Utilities>Terminal.app and enter "cat yourfile.sql" (or use emacs/TestEdit etc)

Anyone else? I know that this Windows doesn't require activation but will this limit me in anyway? I checked and Windows on my machine reported that my current key(? , i never entered one during installation from ISO) ends with MKKG7 while the default key
on Windows Insider Website is the one end with 233PK. Previous build 9879 showed as activated before i upgraded to 9926 today through Updates
