I got the new late 2012 iMac 21.5 inch in February and just realised there are some weird wave lines behind the glass where the camera is. i can't seem to wipe it off because its on the inside and it is ruining the light control of the camera.

Should i return it to apple and has anyone ever had this before? do i have to backup everything on my computer?

Is it blurry? As mentoned how light is your room? Light begind you will make your face dark to people viewing. As to backing up yes an external hardrive, timemachine backs up your mac, there are other ways but they all require extenal storage, since time machione is built in use it, if anything happens to your mac without it you loose everything. Always have backups.

    thanks for your attention

Hi there Daniel, thanks for paying attention to this subject. Today I got an answer from Larry Jordan from his blog (I believe he is one of the "videoguys" from http://videoguys.com and he said that actually adobe does not support those GPU that we will find in the new late 2012 iMacs. However it seems there is a way to make that work out.....
here is his review on his new iMac, at the very botton you will see comments from people and his answers... one of the last coments is mine regarding this subject, this is what I asked and his answer:
mGabo Jan 18, 2013 08:50Hi there Larry, I reed in your other post on your iMac that Adobe didn´t support the Nvidia graphic cards found in this model, I have been asking in forums about this and people say Adobe does supports them……Do you know if Adobe now works fine with these cards?
Larry Jan 18, 2013 11:10When I contacted Adobe about this a couple months ago, just after the release of the new iMacs, I was told that Adobe did not support the graphics card at that time. There is, however, a workaround, which I’m hoping to write up this weekend.Larry

Thanks for letting me know. I noticed that the UK store had all of Pete Townshend's catalogue. I take it that the agreements are based on countries and licensing.
You take it correctly. The rights are country-by-country, so the holder in one country may grant rights to sell the content while the holder in another country denies them. This is actually quite common and can be due to all sorts of things, most often that the rights holder in a given country signs some sort of exclusive deal with a single store.
Again, this is not something Apple has any control over. They would much prefer to be able to offer all content in all countries, but that's not up to them.

  • I just bought the new late 2013 iMac.  Can I get the new iWork for free?

I just bought a new late 2013 iMac.  Can I get the new iWork for free?  I updated it to Mavericks also.  The Mac App store is showing $19.99 for each iWork component (Pages, Numbers, Keynote).  I also bought the previous iWork version, if that matters.  Free updates for iPhoto and  iMovie seemed to show up with no problems.  Maybe these are just glitches that will clear up in a couple of days?

Hi.  If you want it to get updated, this should take care of it.
    1. Uninstall iWork from your Mac.
    2. Do a fresh install of iWork from DVD.
    3. Install iWork update from Apple Downloads (direct link here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1563)
    4. Sign into the Mac App Store, and check for updates.  It should now show up as a free update.  You may have to give it a few minutes (i.e. 10-15 minutes).
I've been a Windows user for years, so I know all of the tricks by now.  I had hoped I would not need this knowledge for a Mac, but oh well...
    Good luck.

  • Why does my iPad keeps connecting and disconnecting from the new late 2013 iMac

    Hi there,
I've recently bought a new late 2013 iMac and ever since then I'm not able to connect my iPad 2 to it. When I do connect it keeps connecting and disconnecting  again and again for some reason. The cable is fine and I've tried it with other devices. Just wondered why this is and whether you guys can help me out.
    Thanks a lot!
    CitizenJohnny

    Hi,
I had the same problem and just found a solution. I tryed restoring all content and settings on the iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings). It took lots of time, however it didn´t work because when I connected the iPad and iMac the problem persisted.
Then I thought it wasn´t an iPad problem but iMac OSX problem. So I searched the web for "Reinstall Mavericks" and found this http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13871?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US.
It also takes like 6 hours with my internet speed. Next day I connected the iPad and everything is just fine.
I described both processes because I don´t know if in the end the iPad reset helped in the solution.
    Hope that helps! good luck

  • Late 2009 imac as second display for new (late 2012) imac. How to?

I have a late 2009 imac 27 that I would like to use as a second display for my late 2012 imac 27. Has anybody connected them successfully? I am getting very mixed information on the topic.

Thank you. Here's where my confusion comes in
"iMac (Mid 2011) and later: target Display Mode does not work with Mini DisplayPort cable"
    Symptoms
When you attempt to connect an iMac (21.5-inch or 27-inch, Mid 2011) and later to another computer with a Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable, the screen of the target iMac will not become an external display when you press Command-F2 to activate Target Display Mode.
    Resolution
iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) and iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) and later computers support Target Display Mode via Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt cable (2 m) when the source is another Thunderbolt-equipped computer.
iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) computers do not support Target Display Mode via Mini DisplayPort cables.

  • Is anyone gaming on the new (Late 2013) iMac 21.5" with the 750M?

My (Late 2009) iMac needs a new Logic Board so I'm not replacing it.
    I think I'll just get a new one. I have the 27" 2.8 i7 with the HD4850 512MB card.
I'm thinking of downsizing to the 21" but going for the 256 flash drive and 16GB RAM and hoping the 1gb graphics card is enough of an upgrade.
I don't want to have to spend another ~$500 on the 27" to go for the 780M (4gb). I'd rather spend that $500 on an external 3 or 4gb USB 3 & AppleCare.
    Any recommendations?
I only moderately game. (Diablo 3, WoW, nothing too graphics intensive.)

I don't know if you already bought it or not....but it should be fine. I have the latest iMac 21" with Nvidia GT 750M (1gb) and 'only' 8Gb of RAM but I can run Batman Akham City on High on OS X Mavericks, and Battlefield 3 also on high through bootcamp (Windows 7).
If you didn't buy yet, and is not a hardcore gamer than go for it. Diablo 3, WoW and games released up until 2011/2012 should run pretty well

  • New late 2012 iMac with Mountain Lion - won't open Reader Library

Everything transferred from my old iMac (2009) to my new iMav (late 2012), except for the READER LIBRARY.  It won't open on the desktop, and it won't open or recognize my Sony e-reader.

I'm about to attempt the same thing -- migrate everything from my old iMac (running 10.6.8) to a brand-new iMac (running Mountain Lion).
Still using FCP7, with no intention of switching to FCP X.
Should Migration Assistant work for me?  Would updating my old iMac to Mountain Lion first make a difference?  (I've already purchased it for my laptop, just haven't used it on my iMac).

  • Is there anyway to play xbox on my new ( late 2012 ) imac

    Hi everyone
im new to the whole apple computer stuff so bare with me
Basically ive brought the new imac ( late 2012) and was wondering if there is any cable by apple or third party that will allow me to link my xbox up to it
    All help appreciated thanks

Won't work. That's for connecting an HDMI display to a device with a mini-DisplayPort. It won't work in reverse. The other adapters you refer to above are the same sort of adapter and hence won't work either. It would take a converter that can convert an HDMI signal to a DisplayPort, such as this one:

  • Installing Adobe Creative Suite - NEW 21" late 2012 iMac - Don't want to buy superdrive!! How can I trick the computer into thinking the USB drive is a CD?

I've got a new late 2012 imac, but I realize yes it doesn't come with a compact disc drive. I have an Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5 install disc with all the information included (serial). I copied the contents of the CD into a USB Flash drive, but I can't get it to install because it is looking for the content on the CD. Since I don't want to have to buy the external Superdrive!! How do I convince the computer into installing adobe via the files on the flash drive?

Your question makes perfect sense to me. I would contact Adobe Supptrt Services from the contacts listed here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/install-creative-suite-5-cs5.html
You will need adobe current serial number.
I hope you'll post here with your results. I've interested know what happens.

  • Headphone jack not working on brand new late 2012 27" iMac

Just purchased the new late 2012 27" iMac. Have tried 3 pairs of headphones, all work with my iPhone but when plugged into back of iMac, they do not show up in Sound>Output as an option. Only internal speakers and Apple TV.
I have pushed...hard. Not the issue.
Tired changing Audio Midi settings to 32-bit floating. Didn't do anything...
    Any thoughts?
    Thx

    What you did at last?
This is happening to me and I'm very disappointed and frustrated!
Is the first time I tried to use a headphones and the stupid machine doesn't work!
I already reseted PRAM and SMC also updated OS to 10.8.4
    Is a HW problem?
Do I have to go to the store and lost ALL the time I already invested in SW install and file moving from my old laptop?
By the way I can see the light when I unplug the heardphones.
Before some help desk robot asks, YES, I tried 3 pair of phones ALL of them work well in my Vostro 3550, Samsung S3 and in my Nexus 7.
    Some light here please!

  • Memory corruption due to bad RAM in late 2012 iMac

I just unpacked a brand new late-2012 iMac a few days ago. Its specs are basically maxed out, only choice being the 3TB fusion drive. To summarize:
    3.4 GHz Core i7
    32GB RAM
    3TB Fusion Drive
    2GB NVidia
    Latest patches for Mountain Lion
Since I got it, I have been experiencing intermittent abnormalities with it. Programs randomly crash with error messages along the lines of "such and such file appears corrupt, please run --repair".
I do a lot of programming in my job and just today I started getting bizarre 'segmentation fault' messages in Terminal. What worked just a few minutes ago started crashing with a segfault. The exact same programs have no negative effect on my Macbook Pro and work just fine. In a matter of minutes, the entire iMac became unresponsive and I got the "we shut down your computer to prevent damage" panic screen.
After a reboot, I started thinking it could be some sort of memory corruption. I downloaded the 'memtest' utility and started the basic test with:
    memtest all 2
In just a few minutes, below are the results I receive (I re-ran multiple times to the same effect).
Any opinions on whether this is indeed bad RAM? How do I handle this with Apple support? Any suggestions/comments are most welcome.
    Thank you,
    Ozgun

This must be my last last thing.  AHT was on an iMac I bought in 2009.  It was included on my "disk 2" along with several other applications.  When I wiped and installed the full Lion, AHT was gone.  Same is true for the full Mountain Lion installation media.  It does not have AHT.  I'm not at all sure how to get it back from Apple.
I was able to find it on my SL disc 2 and extract it again from that.  Disc 2 won't install on Mountain Lion (the packages are too out of date) but the AHT pkg does.
Since you have it, consider packing it up and keeping it safe.  Maybe someone who knows AHT better than I can elaborate on AHT.  From what I've seen, you get it when your mac ships but if you ever wipe and reinstall the OS, you lose it.

  • How can I generate a mountain lion boot dvd for my 27" late 2012 iMac

baught the 27" late 2012 iMac and didn´t get any software dvd with it.
Due to the fact that I have the external DVD writer I would like to generate a bootable Mountain lion DVD for it.

First you will need to Downl;oad and Save the Mt Lion install files. They are not on the system as it is. you need to use the Recovery HD partition to do the download to an external drive and then when the system goes to Reboot to start the actual install of Mt Lion on that external you Disconnect that external so the install doesn't start.
Then once you boot back into the OS on the internal drive you Reconnect the external and use the program linked to in the above reply to Create a Mt Lion Install DVD or USB thumb drive.

  • I have a late 2012 iMac and a late 2009 mac mini.  I want to know if I can take the 8 GB of ram from the iMac and install it in my mac mini.

I have a late 2012 iMac and a late 2009 mac mini.  I want to know if I can take the 8 GB of ram from the iMac and install it in my mac mini.
According to Cruicial my mac mini could use:
    Module Size: 8GB Kit (4GBx2)
    Package: 204-pin SODIMM
    Feature: DDR3 PC3-8500
    Specs: DDR3 PC3-8500 • CL=7 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1066 • 1.35V • 512Meg x 64
Also According to Cruical my iMac uses:
    Module Size: 8GB Kit (4GBx2)
    Package: 204-pin SODIMM
    Feature: DDR3 PC3-12800
    Specs: DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.35V
I want to increase the ram in both computers.
So,  can I put the iMac ram in my mac mini and then I'd only have to buy ram for my iMac?  Naturally the ulitmate test will be when I actually install it,  but having an expectation of success or failure will allow me to plan on what to spend money on.
    Thanks,
    Bear

Thanks for the responses.  I probably wont even try as my priority is Ram for the mac mini.  2 is not enough.  8 for my imac is okay for now.
Somewhere I thought I'd heard that faster Ram would simply clock at the lower speed.  It seems that I am incorrect.
    Thanks,
    Bear
