I Got the Snow Leopard/Vista Home Premium Network Blues
First Post. Many hours of research into using new imac(first for me). I have tried most suggestions from this forum. Very helpful. Thanks to all. At this point the most pressing isssue is getting file sharing working properly.
I have a time warner cable modem hooked to linksys WRT54G2. I have ethernet hooked from linksys to new imac 27' i5. I have named network. I have internet access on imac via same named network. I also have vista home premium laptop on same network wirelessly. Vista also has internet accesson on same named network.
I cannot see imac on the vista, I cannot see vista on the imac finder 'places' pane. Occasionally someone's online fix will get me to the point where I can see the vista in mac finder places, but connection fails when clicked on.
Help. Thanks for reading. Will provide any other details as needed.
An addendum:
Sometimes I don't see my networked Windows Vista machine at all in OS X 10.5.8 Finder.
No networked places show up at all, not even my fiancee's new Mac Book Pro.
How do I get networked machines to appear?

I have Snow Leopard 10.6.3 running on my Mac Pro, and I have an Airport Express for the little wireless network I am trying to set up....
...I can get my iPhone to connect - that was easy!
The problem:
My girlfriend is running Vista Home Premium on her HP laptop. She cannot connect to my network:
a) actually it comes up on her computer as being "connected to an unidentified network"
and
b) she continues to get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" when she tries to connect to the internet.
Any ideas?
1) Is there a connection problem between Vista and Airport Express / Snow Leopard?
2) Anything special I need to do to let a Windows (or Vista specifically) computer connect?Possible risks after someone cracked the password and connects to your Wifi:
- Someone could sniff passwords when the password is transmitted in plain text (e.g. check for mails with POP)
- Someone could access shares that are not password protected
- Illegal use of your internet connection
But I don't know how likely that is. Your decision.
However, we now identified the Windows Vista Wifi settings as the source of the problem.
You can now play around with the different encryption settings in the AX and identify when Vista starts to not connect.
I now remember that I had to add the Wifi settings to Vista manually for WPA2 Personal (WPK) as the system messed it up when I connected with a click and provided the password. So if you want to try WPA2 delete the profile in Vista, probably restart and then add all the Wifi settings manually instead of clicking on an identified network. Vista is definitely able to use WPA2, so there should be no need to toggle between WPA2 and WEP once you configured Vista correctly. -

You asked what I meant about saving the installer on your PC.
When you go to the iTunes download page:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
And click on download, you should be offered the choice of running the installer or saving it. You need to click on save and then choose a folder on you PC where you want it saved. But I think you already did that.
After the installer file - iTunessetup.exe - is save on your computer, you double click on it to run it.
It's very odd that the installer fails at different stages. usually when the installation fails, it is at a specific stage and usually generates an error message.
I am afraid I am mystified. Have you had any other problems with your PC which might suggest a general problem not specific to iTunes?
The only other suggestion I have is to download a fresh copy of the installer - in case it got corrupted. You could also try using "run as administrator" to run the installer. It should be an option if you right click on the installer file.
The other thing it might be worth trying is to install it from another account, but you would need to create another administrator account if you don't a;ready have one. Or if you have another account that is not an admin account, you can temporarily promote it from the control panel>>User accounts. -
Just got a new computer running windoews vista home premium.
Just got a new computer running windows vista home premium. I downloaded itunes with no problems, ran it, no problems. Then turned off my internet connection and computer. Next time I turned on my computer, I could not connect to the internet. There is no problem with the ISP or the computer (all have been checked). If I uninstall itunes, everything is back to normal, internet connection is fine. I have tried a few times to install itunes (which is easy to do), but my computer will not let me access the internet while itunes is installed on the computer. Any ideas as to why this happens and what I can do about it? Many thanks for any help anyone can give.
Look into the Security control panel for the firewall settings and the list of applications allowed to access the Internet. I think you can tap the Windows key and type "firewall" to be shown the panel immediately.
I just got a new computer with Vista Home Premium too. The first time I ran iTunes, Windows brought up a Windows Firewall warning asking me if I wanted to allow iTunes through. People tend to blow by these popups but they're very important. Often Windows will not ask again, and you have to go digging to get to the option later. Reinstalling the app won't necessarily help because Windows would think that the app you already blocked is just trying to get through again, so it blocks it again.
When I view the list of permitted apps for the Windows Firewall, I see many entries with "iTunes" in the name, each probably governing a separate network feature (sharing, purchasing, artwork, track lookup). -
Hi there,
I'd like to ask you something:
I'm trying to synchronize all my iPod's (I have as many as 4 iPods: 2 iPod touch a 8 GB each and 2 iPod classic a 160 GB each) with my iTunes software (Version 11.3.1 which is installed on a Windows PC (Windows Vista Home Premium)). Unfortunately, the iTunes software refuses to run the command "synchronize with the iPod connected" regarding each and every iPod I have. iTunes just declares:
Synchronizing is impossible because I wouldn't hold the access authorization / rights for this operation.
I uploaded the songs at issue to my iTunes folder from CD's (all songs are in AAC format now).
What is this access authorization, why was something like that invented and what can I do to get it?
How do I have to proceed in detail?
What would it cost?
I am brand new here and have never ever made a post in any support community anywhere in the world in my life. Well, and I am not excessively knowledgeable about the particular computer or mac language but I know the very basics or can find out about them.
Anyways - can you help me please?
If you can't help me, who can do so?
It would be nice if you could answer me as soon as possible!
Thank you guys
Prying PedroYes, others have experienced the problem, a simple search of the forums would have revealed that and the simple solution.

I have windows vista home premium and all other iTunes worked on my laptop, I downloaded iTunes 10 and now the iTunes will not connect to the Internet. I use Mozilla firefox on my laptop and for some reason it keeps saying the connection timed out and I'm not connected to the Internet when I am. Why isn't iTunes recognizing my web configuration?
It probably has to do with your security and/or browser configuration.
When my laptop crashed last year and I had to get a new one, I dealt with the same thing. First, go to your control panel and select the security section. See if your firewalls are up or not. If they are, turn them off. If you have any software to speed up your browser, that can affect the connection as well. Go into that software and disble/turn it off. If this doesn't work, contact customer support. They have a few other tricks they had me try that worked, but I can't remember them now. -
windows vista home premium service pack 2。error measage __(the windows installer service could not be accessed.this can occur if the windows installer is not correctly installed .contact your support personnel for assistance )no error nurber
Hi Abdallah,
According to your description, could you please post the summary and detail logs for further analysis? By default, the logs can be found in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log.
Usually, the error occurs when the Windows Installer Service is not running or the Windows Installer registry settings are corrupted. I recommend you reset the Windows Installer Service settings in the registry and restart the Windows Installer Service,
then reinstall SQL Server 2008 R2. For more details, please review this similar
article.

I have a problem with the iTunes Store, I have an ipod and an iphone 2. I have a PC with Windows Vista Home Premium 2007, entering into iTunes Store on the main screen I get only AppStore, Podcast and iTunes U. In my screen I get only ipad2 Podcast, iTunes U Downloads. My problem is I can not access any application to download music, videos, books, etc..
ITunes will be installed wrong or what should I do to activate these options?Go to the front page of the Store, and click Change Country. Make sure it is set to the country where you actually are.
Then you will be able to see everything that is for sale in your country, which, depending where you live, might or might not include music. -

I just bought this laptop and I want to wipe the drive clean. It is an HP dv7-1132 NR with Vista home premium 64 bit but still on Service Pack 1. It came with no system restore disks so I made my own through the System Recovery Manager. Apparently the disks were created without any problems as there were no errors.
When I tried to use the first disk however (by inserting the first disk into the dvd drive and re-starting the computer, Once it has re-booted I get the message:
"This PC is not supported by the system recovery disks. You will not be able to recover this system with these disks"
Can anyone help me help me to either get these discs working or give me another work around that will wipe this hard drive? I am not a techie so my knowledge base is rudimentary. If you can give alot of detail in any possible fixes, that would be great!!!1
Thanks. and Happy 4th of July Americans!!!!Usually this is caused by missing info in the BIOS and must be corrected by service from HP. Enter BIOS by tapping away at the F10 key immediately after power on. Is all system info there, serial, etc?

Restarts at the windows vista home premium page
Im have a concern with my laptop. during the boot up process it goes through its normal functions until it gets to the windows vista home premium screen. Until once its done loading that screen my computer will automatically restart itself. and it will continue to do this everlasting loop of restarting itself once at that particular screen. has anyone experienced this problem or have any advice on how to fix it? your help would be greatly appreciated.
Okay we need some information first
What are the product number and Model number off the bottom of your Notebook?
When did the issue begin?
Did you add any hardware or software?
Can you boot into the BIOS by tapping the "f10" key while booting up?
If so what is your BIOS version?
while in there go to the Diagnostic tab and run the hard-drive diag, it will run a short one then a long one.
we'll go from there, good luck

I have the following system and want to run Elements12 or 13 efficiently; Vista Home Premium 32bit, Intel core 2duo [email protected], 3 GB RAM DDR2, Mobo MSI MS-7267 and on-board graphics chipset. I tried to run Elements9 and was rather slow so you can imagine Elements12 or 13..... Do I have to change the whole system or just buy a suitable VGA card? Which card would be OK for this system? Thanx..

GeForce GT 730 | Specifications | GeForce
I think that the key here is going from a 32 bit to 64 bit computer operating system where Premiere Elements 11, 12, or 13 can become 64 bit application in a Windows 7 or 8.1 64 bit computer operating system. The increased computer resources implication of that should increase the frequency of getting the larger project taken to a successful complete more than before. A lot of this has to do with multitasking potential.
Premiere Elements does not support CUDA as seen in high end video cards/graphics cards. Since Premiere Elements 9, Premiere Elements has no GPU accelerated effects. But, I would decide on the best card for you based on overall computer rather than just for use in Premiere Elements. If you are interested in computer games, that will impact your card decision.
The use of a non super NVIDIA or ATI card should work for you. But, I have used neither.
I would consider more installed RAM, depending on your computer motherboard slots.
You might want to discuss the choice of the card with NVIDIA.

I suspect that
My desktop and laptop computer both use the integrated Intel HD Graphics where my strengths included installed RAM, free hard drive space, and computer processor.
Please consider. Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

CS3 'freezed' installation problem on Windows Vista Home Premium.
Hi! I searched everywhere for answer that installation of my PS CS3 is freezed in moment on the screen.
I installed Acrobat Reader, Dreamweaver cs3 only. Both in English language.
I tried to uninstall, then install, using cs3clean, but it`s nothing change in my situation. Even I tried to copy whole content of my cs3 installation disk to hard drive.
Why installation is freezed ? The screen:

Ps. I`ve got Vista Home Premium.
Thanks, best regards!
Ps2. Sorry for my english :)Kasprzak,
How long did you allow it to sit like this? Only reason that I ask is that I recently did an install on my laptop, and the DVD drive was EIDE and it took probably 20 mins. to get through each disc.
