I got this error message today from Creative Cloud: "Installer was unable to access a critical file/directory. Please try installing again. Error Code: 49"

It was working great up until just last week, now it's not working. What did Adobe change to cause this problem and prevent any further updates after that last update?
When will Adobe fix it, without any action on my part. The whole idea of the Cloud was that this was supposed to take care of itself.

Launch Photoshop CC 2014 application from C: > Program Files > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop CC 2014.
Once the Photoshop CC 2014 application is launched , click on Help menu.
Select Updates option.
Once the Updates are listed , close Photoshop cc 2014 and Creative Cloud application .
Then click on Update button and try to update .

    Hi  Serpent,
    Try the following Steps:
open activity monitor and close all Adobe related applications
    navigate to: /Library/Application support/Adobe
In that directory you will see a folder named OOBE - Rename that folder to OOBEold
Navigate to: MAC HD /Application/Utilities directory
In there you will see a folder called "Adobe Application Manager" - delete it

Toni_Toaster if you need to locate the compromised file permission location then you will want to review your installation log files.  You can find details on how to review your installation log files at Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html.
In regards to the Exit Code 7 document - Error "Exit 6" or "Exit 7" | Install log | Read, write, system file errors | CS5, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-exit-6-exit-7.html.  The error is still possible with CC 2014 if the file permissions under the current User account have become compromised.  The steps to correct the file permissions is also still valid.

  • PC/Win 64bit/Creative Cloud " We are unable to load all your plans. Please try again" error message

I've just signed up with CC on my Win PC 7/64bit and when I log on to my Adobe account I get this error message, "We are unable to load all your plans & products. Please try again.
Just below it I get the correct:  Creative Cloud Membership/One Year
Any way to solve this error message?

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the generic list of hardware/software/browser problems, but that's a lot to go through for what seems to be a simple problem. Not all of the info listed in your link applies to my problem, so I will provide only the info that is relevent.
    1. See attached photo of Error message found in Chrome Browser.
    2. I do not get the error using the FireFox browser.
    3. My hardware works with CC because I previously had a Cloud account for one year and all the software downloaded and worked perfectly.
    4. My system is Windows 7, 64bit with 12GB of Ram Memory. I have plenty of space on my 1TB C drive
    5. I am able to download CC software, but now when I open up an application (Premiere Pro, to be precise) it says it cannot verify my account.
    6. It appears that the issue isn't my hardware or operating system, but a problem with my online Adobe account which is paid for and listed (as you can see in the screenshot).
Can you help solve the problem?

Alauda_positos I would recommend reviewing your installation log files to determine the exact directory which the installer is unable to access.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret your installation log files at Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html.  You are welcome to post any specific errors discovered to this discussion.

  • Generic Installation Error - "Please try installing again."

I have tried installing iWork '06 on my computer about 6 times now. Each time it goes through the whole installation process and then at the end it says there was an error, with the message, "Please try installing again." I have come across other posts in this forum about installation errors, but nothing like this one. I am running OS X 10.4.4 and everything else is updated. I did not have iLife '05.
It should be noted that even though it says there was an error, it does seem to install iWork. The problem is that when I open Pages and select a template, it unexpectedly (or should I say expectedly) quits everytime. So basically, it installed it with serious problems.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Lea

    Hi Lea,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions.
What we're discovering (since the release of Pages 2.0) is that there are a lot of install discs that simply aren't working correctly. Mine is one of them. It would install to 98%, then tell me the install failed. I haven't reinstalled because Pages seems to be working fine, although I've opened up only one template. The only thing you can do is to call Apple tech support (they're very aware of the problem), and they'll walk you through the process of reporting all the necessary information. They'll call you back in a few days, and then probably send you a new disc.

  • 'There were errors installing the software. Please try installing again.'

Can anyone provide a solution for a sudden problem I've encountered. It began when trying to install Backup 3.1 and has now been repeated with OS X 10.4.5.
When trying through Software Update I'm told The update [packagename] can't be installed. Sorry, an unexpected error occurred. The Installer package has been moved to the Trash. To try again, open the package from the Finder.
When I try opening the Installer packages from the Finder the Installer reaches the stage of 'preparing target volume' and then displays this error: There were errors installing the software. Please try installing again.
Installer's Error Log says: Install failed: The following install step failed: run preflight script for [packagename].
    Console.log contains this:2006-02-15 21:07:27.431 Software Update[331] session:product:061-2046 didFailWithError:NSError "Error SUSessionErrorDomain 6" Domain=SUSessionErrorDomain Code=6 UserInfo={errorCode = -2; }
Unsuccessful steps I've taken to resolve this issue have been: (1) I trashed com.apple.installer.plist, (2) I repaired disk persmissions; (3) I repaired the disk (when I did so, Disk Utility reported that no repairs were necessary); (4) I restarted in Safe Mode; and (5) I tried installing using a different User account.
    Anyone?

Since first posting, I learned of further updates being available in Software Update (all the iLife '06 suite, basically). Horrified, I suspected that my Installer problem would rear its ugly head again with these, and sure enough that's precisely what happened. As a test, I unchecked all but one of the new items in Software Update and tried installing that. The exact same problem reoccurred.
Fortunately I also have an iBook G4 on which I had earlier run a successful upgrade to OS X 10.4.5. I ran Software Update on that machine, installed everything successfully, and then used Target Disk mode between iBook and iMac to first install 10.4.5 on the iMac and then to copy over the new versions of Backup, iDVD, iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes and iWeb. So my iMac is now up to date, but only by intervention of another machine. My original question remains: what could be causing the problem with Installer?
Thanks Jpfresno for your response. The only part of it which I had not tried was disconnecting my external Firewire HD before running Installer.

  • Please try installing again....errors installing OS X

I have erased my hard drive. I am using the original OS X discs to boot and install.
No matter the choices I make the process gets to "Install" on the listing on the right of the installer window....then it dumps:
"There were errors installing the software" (reports along the top just under the title bar)
"Please try installing again." (reported in the window)
I am completely stuck. PLEASE HELP!

    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the Erase tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Highlight the drive, select Partition Tab, then Format type... MacOS Extended Journalled, select the Security Options button, choose Zero Out Data, Erase... after completion hopefully you'll be able to install.
    How to format your disks...
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/partitioningtiger.html
(To Install OSX on an IntelMac the Drive it needs the GUID Partitioning scheme mentioned at the bottom.)
