I guess I can't wifi-sync anymore

In the beginning....I could wifi synch beautifully. Then one day....it was over. Clicking on "Synch Now," eventually gives the message, "synch will resume when (the name of my main computer) is available." My question is, where did it go? The last time I checked it was still in the office.
My iPhone is showng in the iTunes devices list. Under "options for this device" I have the "Synch with this iPhone over Wi-Fi" selected, as has been the case since I installed iOS5 the day after it was released.
My iPhone is running the latest iOS update, 5.0.1. Ugh. To have it, then to have it taken away. Such misery!
Anybody else going through this?

I haven't seen any trouble, however what i would do is connect up manually to the computer you're trying to sync to.
Once you're connected, disable wifi sync, apply the settings.
Disconnect the iPhone.
Reconnect the iPhone and allow it to finish syncing, then re-enable wifi sync and apply again.

I have done exactly as you say, but it does not work for me.
You indicated " Navigate to the info tab and scroll down. There'll be a check box for 'sync over wifi' or something to that effect. Check that box and sync to affirm your choice."
I navigated to Summary tab (not Info Tab) and checked "Sync with this ipad over Wi-Fi"
I disconnect the wire,
and my iPad disappears from my iTunes screen.
in my iPad ->Settings -> General -> iTunes Wi-Fi Sync -> says " Sync will resume when (my PC) is available.
So, I can not sync via wi-fi

Having the same issue. Iphone 4 at 5.0.1, Itunes at 10.5.1 iMac at 10.7.2. Synch session fails to start either wi fi or USB connected. Don't know if it is related, but since turning on Match the Music app crashes on the iPhone. No problems on iPad 1, though

Hi I can not WIFI SYNC my Netbook PC running WIN 7 Starter to IPAD 2 with IOS 5.

I have upgraded to IOS 5 and trying new features.
One that I can not get to work is the WIFI SYNC to my Netbook running WIN 7 Starter.
I am seeing errors with BONJOUR on the netbook and have reinstalled it and set up firewall accordingly I hope.
I think it is WIN 7 Starter not supporting the SYNC
Does any one else run WIn 7 starter and have got the sync working.
I also have a macbook and it works OK.

Well not sure what I did but the wifi syncing has started to work. I note I am not getting the bonjour errors I saw before.
A number of things I have tried but did not seem to work at the time were
Modified firewall settings
I uninstalled all bonjour applications and reinstalled, not just installed over the top.
Rebooted machines
Rebooted router
After every one of the above I did test and found it not working but it has now.
It may have been ok a couple of days ago as I had not tried it for awhile.
Not a big issue but glad it is done.

IPod touch 3G can't wifi sync

Hey guys,
I got a ipod touch 3G with ios 5. My mac is updated with the latest itunes. I have also checked the option of use wifi to sync in my itunes. However I cant use the wifi sync feature becuase the itunes does not show my touch after I uplug it from the mac. They are under the samy wifi (a wifi provided by university, not my personal so i dont have access to the router).

No i dont get it.I just checked, my mac and my ipad wifi sync perfect fine at home. They have exactly the same ip address. At school, I use my mac and ipod touch 3 and they do not wifi sync. I dont know if they have the same ip or different ip and I will check on that tomorrow.

Why do you not support Mac OSX 10.4? Guess I can't use you anymore.

I have an iMac with Tiger 10.4 OSX. Firefox was my default browser, but for how long? I keep getting told to install the upgrade right away, but it hangs, and when I go to the Firefox site it says it supports 10.4. Then, after clicking in to another page, it says my operating system isn't correct and I cannot upgrade.
Can I:
1)make the upgrade notice disappear?
2) continue to use Firefox - how long before you don't support version 4.12?
3) give up and use Safari?
I am very disappointed.

Sorry to be so late getting back to you. My furnace died and I was a week without heat. Everything's ok now.
I was able to grab an old firefox from an external drive (thank God for backups!) and I used that along with the link that you sent me for older versions and I was able to download the version before the current update.

Can you use wifi sync with multiple libraries and multiple devices

Hi all
Does anyone know if you can use wifi sync with 1 computer, 2 libraries and 2 devices?
I have my wife's iPhone synced to 1 library and mine to another library but on the same computer. Will wifi sync work this way or do you need iTunes to be open to the correct library for it to work? As I know you can't have 2 instances of itunes open on the same computer.

I have been looking more and more into this and it appears no.
You need to have iTunes running on the computer to enable it to wifi sync. You can use 2 devices on 1 library but if you don't have all the right options ticked you will then end up with each others stuff on each others device.
To enable wifi sync you need to have your iDevice connected to the same wifi network as your computer and iTunes open on that computer.
With my library open it detected my wife's phone and started to sync. Hasty push of cancel sync button lol.
There is a guide on here somewhere about multiple devices with 1 library which I can't find at the moment that tells you which options to tick so only your stuff stays on your device the the other half's on their device.
Its basically tick 'sync only ticked songs and videos' under summary of your device
Under apps take tick out of 'automatically sync new apps'
Then under edit->preferences click device and click prevent i's from syncing automatically
I think you should then be able to sync both devices to 1 library with mucking them up too much
Hopefully please correct me if I'm wrong
I have tried not doing the last step and asking it to open itunes automatically when phone is connected but this does not work with wifi sync

ITunes cannot recognize iPhone/iPad via WiFi Sync following motherboard change

Hi folks,
I'm having a problem with synchronising my iPhone (and iPad) to iTunes on Windows 7 Home Premium via WiFi sync.
This never used to be a problem - both devices would be identified by iTunes (occasionally this was sporadic, however a simple WiFi off/on would usually solve the problem).
I have recently upgraded my motherboard and CPU in my Windows 7 PC and after updating some drivers, etc. all of a sudden, I cannot connect to WiFi Sync anymore. I can still synchronise my devices via the cable - i.e. the devices are correctly identified by the PC, but for some reason post the motherboard change, as soon as I pull the plug out of the device, the device disappears from iTunes.
I can confirm that the "Synchronise this device via WiFi sync" tick boxes are checked, and the Machine Name is the same, so my iPhone is still looking for the same PC.
I'm wondering if because of the motherboard change, there is an internal signature that the iPhone/iPad looks for that is no longer the same.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing iTunes to no avail. I cannot seem to find any solution to this problem - no matter what I do, iTunes will simply not recognise my devices over WiFi anymore.
Welcome any advice or thoughts.

I thought I should post a follow up - in case any Apple Support people scour these forums.
The problem seems to have resolved by itself, which is both a good and bad thing.
I made absolutely no changes last night, not even a system reboot, to launch iTunes today and the system miraculously discover both my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2. I think this highlights a broader problem is that the WiFi sync capability is inconsistent and very difficult to troubleshoot. I have no idea why it has all of a sudden started working, especially when I have changed no wireless, networking, firewall or Anti Virus settings.
Anyway thank you to those who had a read, and I wish I could provide more insight on why it has started working all of a sudden, and importantly, what caused it to stop working.
Perhaps it is simply like two people - the new PC and its motherboard needed to 'get to know' the devices before it felt comfortable in allowing a connection .
I have no other more rational explanation!

I can get WiFi sync with iPhone 4s to work when I turn on WiFI on my mac and select the same network the iphone is on.
Since my Mac is wired right into the router (apple time capsule), would I have to turn on wifi on the mac to have it sync automatically?
I have a 50mb down connection and I get great speeds so I plug mac right into the router. Would turning on wifi on the mac and selecting the same network the iphone connects to slow my mac downloads? Or does the mac know that its wired (even if i turn on wifi) and use that as the connection out to internet?

Wifi sync with multiple users?

Windows 7 32 bit, iTunes 10.5, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 32GB (model MC544LL) both running iOS 5. We have different Windows users for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
To perform iTunes wifi sync on either device, iTunes has to be running. So presumably someone wanting to do this regularly would prefer to leave iTunes running all the time. But iTunes will only run for one user at a time, so only the user running iTunes on the PC can do wifi sync on their device. For the other user to do wifi sync, he/she will have to close iTunes for the other user (or, without their login info, reboot the machine) and open iTunes under his/her own login.
This scenario is no better than before iOS 5. Is it? Thanks for any response.

Wifi Sync, Ejected device not showing up anymore

Wifi syncing is not working anymore after i accidently pressed the ejected button. I have tried all the suggested steps to make it work again, everytime i unplug the usb the device now dissapears from the device list in itunes. Any ideas?

I mostly use technology for education and professional audiovisuals and lights.
I don't sync music because I use music from at least 4 different computers. (manually mange music)
I use my iPad to play performance tracks for church and a local gospel group out of our church, Won4Christ.
I chose to buy the iPad because the laptop of one of the group members (dellxps running iTunes) was randomly losing and mixing up music and I wanted a more stable option that was bigger than my iPod touch.
I tried to add some data to music libraries that I previously added to my iPad, but the data only shows up when looking at the device in iTunes.
Wifi sync has not worked on either my laptop or desktop ( both running windows 7 enterprise 64 and newest iTunes) not really a big issue, but very annoying
When browsing through library playlist albums on the iPad, random artwork shows up on playlists with no artwork that you touch while dragging, and it does not go away until you change to another navigation tab and back.
Random songs out of hundreds that I added showed up in iTunes grayed out with a sync circle beside them. Those songs would play back okay on the iPad but were unplayable through the iTunes device view. I had to delete the songs manually through the library along with the playlist and add them again.
These seem to be major stability bugs in the "new" music app and iTunes. My only option right now seems to be to delete the songs that I want to change and re-add them with the changes already applied rather than changing the id3 tags and artwork on the existing music. I hope apple will release updates to resolve these issues.

We have two apple IDs and multiple iOS 5 devices. We'd like to consolidate to a single Mac and use wifi sync with it. But can we run two instances of iTunes on one box at the same time and have that work? Or do we need to consolidate to a single iTunes and single apple ID? Or give up on both being able to do this, and just pick one to do it this way and make the other person keep using the old way?
