I Had A Computer with my ipod software on it....

I had a computer with my ipod 5th Gen software (music, videos, podcasts, playlists, etc)and got a new computer (but still have the old one still working) and tried to install iTunes on my new one, and it installed. Then I plugged in my ipod into the USB chord. It has a section for my ipod underneath the Music Store section like it always does. I'm wondering how can I get song from my ipod's section into the iTunes Library? Thank you!

Just how did you " I downloaded the songs"?
Did yo do this:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • Restarting computer with mini ipod attached

I just set up my mini and a few days later restarted my computer when the mini was attached. The computer froze during the start up and I had to unplug the mini and restart again. Is there a problem with my computer or my mini?

" Is there a problem with my computer or my mini?"
Probably neither, but it's widely recommended on these forums not to boot up your computer with the iPod attached for the very reason you experienced.

You can purchase an adapter from apple that uses the monitor cable from the projector, its the same one that is probably connecting either your laptop or school workstation. On the projector control you might need to refresh the source.

  • Problem with new iPod software update and Robi DAB radio

There seems to be a compatability issue between my iPod Classic and my Robi DAB radio attachment. The DAB radio was working just fine until last week, when I downloaded the latest iPod software updates. Since then, the Robi works fine when it is used as a remote control for the iPod, but when it is used in radio mode, the iPod shuts down after a few minutes (as though it does not recognise that the radio is still attached, and thinks that there is no activity) and the Robi closes down too (due to lack of battery power when the iPod is no longer on). It could be a coincidence, but my guess is that the iPod updates are causing a problem.
I have tried to remove the new software updates from the iPod, ie I deleted the latest updates from the iPod software updates file (C/Documents and Settings/user name/Application data/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPod Software updates), unchecked the box labelled "automatically check for software updates", and then tried to restore the iPod using the old software. At that point, a message from iTunes appeared, to the effect that it could not go any further due to no internet connection. I could not find any way of restoring the iPod without letting iTunes download the current sortware updates.
So the question is, does anyone else have a similar compatability problem (with the Robi or anything else) and how can I get the iPod to run on the previous software?
I would be very grateful for any advice, as this is a very frustrating problem.

The good news is that I removed the most recent iPod software update, restored the iPod (ie returned it to factory settings and reloaded all 14500 songs) and now I am really pleased to say that the iPod and the Robi are working together again in harmony, which is a huge relief.
    Since I had inadvertently deleted the previous version of the iPod software from my PC, I had to download the files from here;
    http://rapidshare.com/files/73863240/1.0.3.zip.html
I have contacted Roberts Radio about this problem. The recent 1.1 software update must be even more frustrating for them, since they have sold lots of Robi radios.
    If anyone needs help to revert to the previous iPod software, have a look at this thread, where the instructions are printed in red;

  • Pb with new Ipod software

Since I downloaded the latest update of the Ipod software, It is not recognized by my computer anymore... The windows explorer & itunes can't find it.
I tried to reinstall it with the Ipod updater but it fails everytime:
either it says there is no ipod connected,
or it says it is used by another application(!!)
Does anybody know how I could repair that or return to the older ipod software version??
    Thanks!

    FOR WINDOWS:
Connect ipod if tunes opens close it LEAVE IPOD HOOKED UP ! control alt delete in processes RIGHT CLICK AND END ipodservice.exe, then open start and click run and put this in "c:\PROGRAM FILES\iPOD\BIN\iPODSERVICE.EXE" /service
Leaving the ipod HOOKED UP NOW REBOOT LEAVE IPOD HOOKED UP may take a few minuets be patient...when rebooting is done itunes should open and recognize your ipod ...This worked for my new 80gig ipod just purchased 2 days ago and pluged in ipod it formatted to windows ok but itunes would not update or recognize ...This info is from Jeremy in ohio tech support for apple he is good (seems to know what he is talking about ), first 2 tech's i talked to were useless . Now ipod is auto updated very happy auto dnloaded music to new ipod (6,787) songs and all is ok ...This is not a fix for scratchy audio this is making ipod able to read your ipod by shutting off ipod service then rebulding it (restarting ) and worked fine for me ...If not sure go ahead and call tech support on this fix for updating ....Thanks all Good luck..

  • Sharing computer with 2 ipods

My son and I share a single computer for our ipods. We set up a seperate user account in Windows XP, however when we open itunes in his account, there is a lock symbol at the bottom of the itunes browser. His ipod is recognized, but we can not add songs to his ipod. His ipod was given to him by his brother, so the computer we are using does not contain the actual music on the hard drive that is on his ipod. What should we do to be able to add music to his ipod?
    Thanks

A lock symbol at the bottom of the screen and grey text when you look at the content simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. For more detail see this tutorial: Managing Your Songs Manually
One thing to be aware of with manually updating is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • How do I sync in my new itouch to a computer with existing ipod account?

    Hello!
How do I set up my new itouch to the same computer (PC) that has an existing ipod account. I would like to set it up as a different account for the reason this itouch is for my son. I would like to use 1 computer for 2 ipod & itouch systems. Is there "step by step" information that anyone could guide me to? I've looked a little, but haven't found anything useful. I've tried to do this myself, but when I hook up the new itouch, it takes me to "my" ipod account vs. taking me to "set up a new product".

  • Could i replace my computer with an ipod touch???

OK so i have been thinking if i could replace my laptop with my Ipod Touch 5g. It has plenty of apps, like pages, to replace microsoft word programs. Its is ultra portable. And it is sadly faster than my laptop when it comes to internet speeds.  Could it work? I just wonder because it may save money and lots of effort and other things. Thanks

  • New computer with old Ipod touch 2nd Gen.

New computer, old Ipod, how do I add my music to my new computer from my Ipod?

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
Just use your backup copy. This is one of the many reasons that always maintaining a backup is basic.

  • I had an issue with my ipod freezing up when downloading 6.0.1 . My ipod is now unresponsive, and my computer no longer picks up my ipod. Will my ipod back up still be accessible if I try removing then, reinstall itunes?

My ipod will no longer turn on, and comes up with the image of a connector lead and itunes logo, but if I try plugging it back into my computer my computer no longer picks it up. I'm thinking of try re-installing itunes, but need the back up I made to still be accessable.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Had a computer worm, think iPod was affected... Many questions...

    Hi Folks,
Crazy week here - long story and long posting, but bottom line installed some new virus protection software and in the process stepped in my firewall and my machine got a couple of bugs - 1 virus, 1 worm. Had to reformat and start over, but think I saved my iTunes library (thank goodness!) in the process. Have several questions...
    1. I have not sync'd my iPod since I reformatted and reinstalled iTunes and reloaded music library last night. I did sync during the time that I was trying to get rid of the virus/worm. Also copied my entire library to the iPod during the process in an effort to save my music to as many places as possible. Just looked at my iPod this morning re: music and noticed that many songs are just gone ... What is your best advice about how to clean up the iPod? All of my songs appear to be there in iTunes... Do not want to connect it to the computer if worm is living on it ...
    2. Seem to have lost my playlists in the restore - is there anywhere that they would have been stored in the iTunes Music folder? I did not see anywhere right off...
    3. When I did the reload of my iTunes library (did this by authorizing newly formatted hard drive, pointing to the new location of the iTunes Music folder, setting "copy music when imported" to Off, and re-imported the iTunes Music folder) all my video podcasts came in as Music - they do not show up in my podcasts list in iTunes. Note, however, that the podcasts list seems to show the correct count of podcasts next to the word "Podcasts" though... Any ideas about how to clean that up?
Any and all feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Verna

OK - so fixed my own problems after some doing (except for the playlists)...
Podcasts - Navigated to a single video podcast in the iTunes Music folder and did an Open With and selected iTunes. Stopped playing it and exited iTunes. Went back into iTunes and all video podcasts now appeared in list. Did the same for the audio podcast that I get - same thing happened, once I played one audio podcast, they showed up in iTunes on next startup.
Messed up iPod - based on conversation with a coworker, I reformatted the iPod using Windows format FAT32. Once I did that, I connected it to iTunes and did a RESTORE to factory settings. Then I synced and now seem to have everything back in working order...
    Thanks anyway!
    Verna
