I had a little accident need help!!!!
ok i was in the bathroom, and my ipod classic fell out of my pocket, bounced of the rim of the tiolet and fell in, I immediatley took it out rinsed it off, just the front and back, not near plug-ins. It wasn't on but when it fell in the screen came on and was frozen for about 5-10 min, then it went black. It was clicking a bit every once in awhile too, which it usually did when i would reset it. Ive used the blow dryer on it but it still wont come on, no matter what buttons i press, is it completely fried? will i have to buy a new one? can it be fixed/replaced?
The only mistakes you've made so far are:
1. Dropping it in the toilet
2. Rinsing it off (Electronics don't like water...so why expose it to more water?)
3. Using the blow dryer on it (this drove the water even further in the device where it could do more damage).
You could set it in a cool, dry place for about 5 - 7 days to let it thoroughly dry, then connect it to power for at least 30 minutes (a wall charger works best for this) and then Reset it while it is still connected to power. It may take several tries. If it revives, fully charge it and then Restore it in iTunes.
If it does not come back to life you could send it to http://www.iresq.com and for $9 they will tell you how much damage you did and give you a cost to repair it. Then you can decide whether to do so or just buy a new one.

I have a problem with Siri not listening (after some searching I found out that apple will replace my iphone for this problem), but recently I dropped my phone and I cracked the glass in the upper right corner (about a 0.15in crack - almost invisible). I have the siri problem since I got my phone but I planned to return it for replacement after some time because I barely use siri.
My question is - is my warranty still valid because of that little damage ? The phone doesn't have even a scratch besides this.

...so I had this little accident, and...
...what happened was, in my crontab file, I have an entry that says,
00 01 * * 7 root diskutil secureErase freespace 1
(and no, I did NOT erase my entire hard drive!)
But, as you know, when freespace erase runs, it collects all of the free space up into a single file before overwriting it with ones and zeros, and then it deletes the pointer to the file (or at least that's how I understand what is going on).
Well, in a stunning display of genius, I had not left my laptop's charger plugged in late Saturday night, and so diskutil secureErase freespace 1 kicked off and executed just like it always does in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
It appears that somewhere between creating this great big temporary file, and actually deleting the pointer to said file, that that's when my battery ran out of juice, the laptop went into a deep sleep, and the only way I could wake it up was by ruthless powerdown (depress power button for several secs). Because, now, when I "df", it says the hard drive is filled up to 100% capacity with no free space available. (FYIW, /sbin/fsck -yf sez' the disk is happy). At any rate, no free space on one's hard drive makes it kind of hard to do anything on one's computer.
So, I gotta figure out where this temporary file is located, and what it is named, and what is the path to it, blah blah blah, so I can "rm -f" it. Does anyone have any ideas as to where this file might be located, what it is named, or how I might otherwise identify/locate this not-so-temporary file so I can delete it and get back 40% of my hard drive?

Anyways, it worked -- for the benefit of anyone else that something like this might happen to, it found two files:

Even though the timestamps looked right, before deleting, I did a find / -size on another Mac, to help reinforce my belief that these were indeed the offending files. Nobody was found there, so "rm -f" 'ed 'em on the Powerbook, rebooted, and voila! My Powerbook is usable once again.

My iTunes gift cards worked but i had a glitch and need help
I redeemed 2 iTunes gift cards and then bought a music video off of iTunes. Once i completed the download a box popped up on my screen and said,"iTunes has encountered a problem and must shut down". I tried everything I could to try to keep it from shutting down but it didnt work. So when i restarted iTunes I found that the music video and the 30$ added on to my iTunes credit was missing. So i tried entering the codes for my iTunes gift cards to see if i could get back the money on them, but they both replied,"this card has already been redeemed". I am very devastated i lost 30$ of money that my family had gaven to me. Is there any way i can get my amount of money back from iTunes?

Dell Demension 4300 Windows XPFirst, make sure you've logged back into the iTunes Music Store (the login button is at the upper-right of the main iTMS window in iTunes). If your account name isn't showing, you're not logged in.
If you confirm that you're logged in using the correct user name and it's still not showing the correct balance, contact the iTunes Music Store customer support department through the form at the bottom of this web page and explain the problem to them.

Hey all, Im fairly new here and new to Java as well. I just started college this month and am moving along quite well but I kinda wrote myself into a wall if you will. I just finished writing a program to calculate commission based on some data the user inputs and have just found out that I need to output the total commissions they entered as well as the total value of the sales they entered. Well ive got the program written and now I need to figure out how to squeeze in a list. Ive attached my code so you guys can have a look. The right way would be to create a class called, say, Sale, and Sale would have fields for sale price and commission (and probably other stuff relevant to a sale as well). Before the loop, you could declare a java.util.List of sale objects, like this:

I assume they are getting stored as Strings so if thats the case could I declare the arrayList as an array of doubles? or would I have to parse the data and then add it all.. Or, is there an easy to use method like ArrayList.sum() or something to that affect.. Im searching as I write this but ya never know.

Ok so from my reading it seems Im going to need to convert my arrayList to an array and then I can sum the elements. The code would look something like this:

Thanks in advance.I just managed to fix the problem! I went into the Preferences (hold down Apple icon top left of screen and select "System Preferences"), clicked on the "Time Machine" icon (next to last row towards the right), and slid the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position. Like magic...no annoying error message! All I have to do now is remember to turn it back on now and then to back up my laptop.

Deleted Appleworks 6 by accident, need help please.
Hi, i recently was browsing through my computer apps. and somehow deleted appleworks 6 for my iBook G4. I was wondering how or if I could get that back, and if not what you suggest getting or doing to replace it, as in another word processor.
I love Pages & have used it since iWork '05 was released in January, 2005. But there are still times I use AppleWorks for word processing, especially mail merge. Numbers, in iWork '08, meets my spreadsheet needs, but there still isn't any replacement for AppleWorks' database. The majority of what I use/d AppleWorks draw, Pages meets my needs but can't open AppleWorks draw documents.
I'd think about buying a copy of AppleWorks if you can't find the original disks for your Mac. You could try <a href=http://listings.ebay.com/aw/listings/list/all/cat egory3792/index.html>eBay and do a search for "AppleWorks" or "Apple Works" (some people put a "space" in the name). Hardcore Mac was selling AppleWorks 6.2.4 the last time I looked. -

To delete an email account, to to Settings> Email> Account settings> tap the name of your email account, then tap menu (the three vertical dots)> select Remove account.

Hi, I need help and advice. Basically me and my ex partner both had iphones and synced it with the same computer under the same ID. We split up and now im trying to get all my apps and info onto my new laptop with a new account but it keeps asking me for the old apple ID which she is still using and she changed the password. i tried backing it up but still nohing. When i try to back up purchased items being apps etc its keeps asking for the old one. help
See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. But you'll still need the password.
Once you have the computer authorized to use the account she could change the password again to stop you buying apps on her card (assuming it's not on yours!). It would lock you out of upgrading them too but they should work unless she uses the deathorize all feature.
It depends on how amicable the split is...

When I did the latest update, my phone was wiped out completely. My laptop that I had everything on, crashed. I have a new laptop, tried to update on it and of course I couldn't without deauthorizing my account then reauthorizing. I need help! I want my ringtones and picturesd back, and can't get them. Does anyone know how to do this given my situation?

Why would you not be able to use your existing Apple ID and iTunes account on a new laptop? If you authorized the computer - you should be able to use your existing account - unless you already had 5 computers authorized with the existing ID - and that was why iTunes would not accept the ID. However, I'm sure that you would have received a popup message from iTunes telling you that you had reached the limit.
I just received a new MBP and my daughter did as well. My entire family shares an Apple ID and we had no issues at all with my Apple ID and iTunes on our new computers and I did not have to sign up for a new account. Did you even try the old ID? -

I really need help. I try to contact support to no avail. There simply is no option on the site, You are always referred to a further topic which has notihing to do with my problem. I bougnt a full master pack CS6 which I had installed on a mac for one year. Then, I decided to change it to another computer, so I sisintalled it according to instructions. In the meantime I got a free trial of creative cloud on that computer, but I gave up and decided to reinstall my cd-roms. However, everytime I try to use acrobat for instance it says that my trial period ran out! I disinstalled my cloud products, I am using my registered full master series items, they have nothing whatsoever to do with my creative cloud FREE subscription. If I try to cancel my free membership, it is to no avail, there simply is no such possiblity. I want to use the software I paid dearly for, not the cloud items I disinstalled and which do not interest me. How can I contact Adobe to fix it? It was no fault of mine, I did all I was supposed to, disintalling items before installing the right ones, but the system must have some error i am not responsible for.

Hello, i really need help. I had just updated my iphone 3gs to i.o.s. 6.0.1, and after I updated, it won't activate.I tried it in itunes and it always says " We cannot activate your iphone at this time..." and when I activate using Wi-Fi, it says, "Your iPhone cannot be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable." I could swear that my Wi-Fi is fine, and my Itunes is on the latest version. Is this a bad thing or does this normally occurs? Can I still fix this ? I'm so desperate to use my iphone cause I use it everyday for personal purposes. I sure would appreciate any tip or help . PLSSSS ! Thank you for that wonderful being that can help.
Do not take it to a third party repair shop - downgrading causes problems and voids your warranty.
I had to unlock it so that i could really use it as a phone.
And that is the root of the problem. Unless you had your carrier unlock it, it was hacked and cannot be legitimately activated. Even if you don't care about warranty or problems, downgrading simply will not help an activation issue.
