I had a macbook pro and an iPhone 4gs stolen from me. Can I use find my iPhone to ping the computer and find its last known location?
My macbook pro was stolen and I put it in lock mode. 2 months later I just got an email saying the lock mode had been activated as it was just connected to the internet. The problem is that find my iPhone is giving me no location. Is it possible to find the location where it was locked or to ping it and find the new location?
The locations of devices will only show up if the device is turned on and connected to the internet. Otherwise they are silent. It very well could be your iPhone was powered down, battery died, not connected to the internet...any of which will keep it from showing up.
Pinging the MBP will only show its location, again, if it is powered up and connected to the internet. If locked and disconnected, it will not show up. Worth a try, though, so see what happens. You may get lucky and get a response.

You should change your AppleID password NOW. And if it says it was registered under another AppleID, the thief has probably done it.

Can't speak about avid, since I am not familiar with the software.
You can certainly use FCP X on that machine. It should work better if you use a fast external drive for your media and projects.
There is a free trial, so try it out and see how it goes. You should also follow some good video tutorials, if you are not familiar with the application. FCP X is a lot different from Avid, Premiere or even Final Cut Pro 7. -
I lost my iPhone, but it's been more than 24 hours so iCloud won't let me see the last known location of the device, and i need the map of it's last know location to find the phone, how do i get the map of it's last known location?
It's not likely to re-connect to a network lying on the ground somewhere and getting rained on, it would be really great if I could see that map again so I could use it's last known location to find it. Kind of pointless to have a 24 hr killswitch deadline. If I had known I would have taken a screen-shot while I still had access to the information. Since I lost the phone at Canada's Wonderland (which is now closed for the season) I don't have access to the location where I lost the phone (under a roller-coaster probably), and so I wanted to send the Lost And Found people a screen-shot of it's last known location, but I guess I can't do that now. (Apple are big jerks)

Apple doesn't take used systems in trade. You can prepare the system to be sold (delete your personal data, etc), and put it on ebay or craigslist or other resource to sell it. Or you could always donate it to a member of your family.

i cant use my imessage in my mac cause its say that : message cant log in to my email cause my login ID or pasword is incorrect
but when i try to get ito my email account i can opened, the problem is only in my macbook pro. the other problem is the last sync i did with my old iphone 3s to my macbook pro it show the emails of years ago but not the recent emails that i received also in my 4s iphone. Which of these two macbooks (pro and air) will last the longest?
I'm stumped between which of these two laptops to buy, I'll be using it daily at uni. Typical essay writing and internet browsing aswell as some garageband and probably logic use (nothing too heavy). Storage isnt an issue as I'll be buying an external hard drive without question anyway.

I would prefer a laptop that is more portable and cheaper like the Air, however I'm willing to sacrifice this if the Macbook Pro is likely to last me longer. I want to get as many years as I can out of the computer. Any advice about which laptop to get? I've recently upgraded my iPad to OS 5 and I am running iTunes 10 on my MacBook Pro. For some unexplainable reason, I'm now getting a message that items (mainly TV shows I've purchased through iTunes) are not able to be downloaded because the computer is "not authorized." But the computer IS authorized. I follow the instructions to "authorize" it and, of course, I'm then told that the computer is already authorized! Still, the downloads won't sync.
Can anyone help me out with this?I have the same problem. It is only with tv shows and only with programs I have downloaded after the software update.
Apple support sent me the above link too....but it doesn't solve the problem...my computer is authorized and the content is in my library and will play on my Mac air, but it will not sync the tv shows, it keeps saying my computer isn't authorized for it.

What exactly do you mean by "restored"?
Did you use the recovery option (Command + R or Command + Option + R during startup)? If so, the process to install should be automatic if you used Disk Utility to wipe the drive.
Please explain exactly what you did, the model of your machine, and was Lion the original OS on it or did you buy it at the app store? -

How will having another icloud email benefit me. I have my work email which is all i require, but had to set up a @me account to get email on my Macbook.

IMessage works on MacBook Pro and iPhone but not iMac
I am able to send messages via SMS and iMessage on my MacBook Pro and iPhone 5S but not on my iMac. On the iMac I get "Not Delivered" and "Try Again". I verified that the same iCloud account is being used on all. I can tell that the iMac and the phone are pairing as I get a message to that effect when I log into the iMac. All software is up to date 10.10.1 on the Macs and 8.1.2 on the iPhone.
I have tried logging out of my iCloud account on the iMac and logging back in. I have tried removing com.appple.imagent.plist from my Library/Preferences and rebooting. Neither worked though removing the plist file appeared to work but in reality the messages were not being delivered. Later the behavior went back to giving the error messages.
I have reported this to Apple but was hoping someone had found a solution.

After doing what blueno suggested I did have to reboot. I then had to provide my password lots of times when I logged in. That still didn't work so I logged out of my iCloud account in Message and logged back in, repaired, and it worked!
This is what I did:
1) Open Key Chain Access ( go to Applications>Utilities)
2) Select Login at the top left side under Keychains
3) Select All Items on the lower left side under Category
4) Search for entries of IDS.
5) Highlight and delete all entries that has IDS.
6) Search for entries of FaceTime
7) Highlight and delete all entries of FaceTime
8) Search for entries of Messages (I also found entries containing Message (singular, not plural), but didn't delete these.)
9) Highlight and delete all entries of Messages
10) Reboot!
11) Log back in and when requested log back into iCloud account (I got asked for the password multiple times)
12) Log out of iCloud account in iMessage (Not sure if this is needed)
13) Log back into iCloud account in iMessage.
14) On iPhone in Settings/Messages/Text Message Forwarding turn off forwarding to my iMac.
15) Turn Text Message Forwarding back on for my iMac (re-pairs and I entered the new number)
16) Could send text messages from my iMac!!!!!
But it was short lived. One message was sent using SMS (that should have gone through using iMessage and then back to the same error message. So I am back to square one. -
i recently bought a macbook pro and i made a new apple id. my last macbook had a different id as well and i was wondering if there's a way of transferring all my music from the other laptop to the new one without having to use my old apple id? if it makes any type of difference i have an iphone 5 so i tried transfering the music but it only transfered certain things and not my entire album.
Making a new Apple ID was the worst thing you could of done. This is very bad to do. Not sure why people do that. Your Apple ID is Your Apple ID. You only need one and it is best to only have one Apple ID for all apple devices.
