I had a mini but just bought a nano!

My mini died and I just ordered a nano. Since I already have iTunes for my mini what will I have to do when I get the nano. Will I have to transfer the music into a new library for the nano?

Just connect it to your computer, it will update automatically from your existing iTunes. You may want to download the latest iPod Updater that was released recently http: iPod Updater 2006-03-23
For info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • I have an Ipod mini...I just bought a nano..Now I need help!

I just bought the Nano and hooked up to the same computer as my Mini. The problem is I am unable to create and add new playlists for my Nano. The Mini works fine, but I am unable to add new music to my Nano. Anybody else have this problem or have advice on what I can do? Thanks for any feedback.

You might want to re-post this issue in the "using iTunes for Windows" forum. This is the music store forum for problems & questions concerning the iTunes music store. Welcome to discussions!

  • Have a mac mini and just bought a macbook pro

i have an 09 mac mini and just bought a macbook pro today... i was wondering if there is anything i could do between the two of them, like wireless connections or something... i'm not asking to use the macbook pro as a monitor or anything like that, just wanted to know if there were any cool things i didn't know about that i could do between the 2...thanks-bruce

Bruce you can do a lot but you need to be specific. Your question is so general it's impossible to get an idea what you have interest in doing. However the first place I'd start is looking into sharing on your System Preferences and before you start punching in preferences get yourself a book at a bookstore about OS X and study a little on sharing and OS X in general. However to get you started read this:

  • I have aperture 3.2.4 on my laptop and have the serial number, but just bought a new MAC and I can't get the Ver 3.0 link to work. Anyone know how to move it from my laptop to our new mac?

I have aperture 3.2.4 on my laptop and have the serial number, but just bought a new MAC and I can't get the Ver 3.0 link to work. Anyone know how to move it from my laptop to our new mac?

I am talking about the Ver 3 download link that came with the purchase email.
That link is no longer available. Use "Migration Assistant" to copy your Applications from your old mac to the new Mac, then immediately run software update. Aperture Version 3.2 will not run on your new mac with Mavericks, you will have to Upgrade to version 3.4.5 at least - you can download this update from the Support page: Aperture 3.4.5
Then launch Aperture and enter your registration key and try now too update from version 3.4.5 to 3.5 from the AppStore. The AppStore will change your Aperture registration to an AppStore version, so you will able to reinstall by downloading from the AppSTore in future.
If you want transfer only Aperture and no other applications, do it manually: You will have to copy not only the application but folders from the libraries as well:
    /Applications/Aperture.app
    /Library/Application Support/Aperture/
    ~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/

Just bought a nano and want to download some of my iTunes library. The "Music" button shows almost all my selections but some albums are missing, yet ONLY those albums appear on the nano icon on my desktop after being dragged there but none of the others. What's happening?
I've read some of the post here that I thought might help but they refer to titles (Music) and triangles in the "Devices" window which are nowhere to be seen when I open the "Devices" window.
I have iTunes 11.0.3 and Mac OS 10.6.8. Does this make a difference?

I should mention that, for the first problem, I do make sure that my new tracks are stored in the folder where I told iTunes that my music is in. Also, when I say the cataloging of my library stops short of cataloging all my songs, I have tried leaving the computer unattended for days (my computer's sleep mode is disabled). It always stops before cataloging all of my music regardless of whether I am doing something else while iTunes is cataloging, or if I just let iTunes be the only program that's open during the cataloging process.

Numbers documents from iOS need Numbers 3.2 on a Mac to open. And Numbers 3.2 requires Mavericks. If you are using Mavericks you can get Numbers 3.2 from the Mac App Store. It will be free IF you have Numbers 2 (iWork '09) installed. Otherwise you must buy it.
Your other option is to send the Numbers file as an Excel file via e-mail to yourself to open with an earlier version of Numbers.

  • Just bought ipod nano.  Just bought 2 songs in istore however did not sync to my ipod.  how do i tell if ipod is active with istore

Just bought ipod and went to istore and bought 2 songs.  However does not seem to have synced to my ipod.  How do i make sure device is recognized by istore.  Should istore page be indicating its presence.  First experience with ipod or istore and am very frustrated right now.  Please help.

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much.  Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it.  I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names.  isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)
either way, ill do what you suggested to the best of my abilities and thank you so much for answering my questions, i can't even open the program as its incompatible and find out the info from that) so I'm in a bit of a pickle and your response was so thorough and it didn't seem to be posted long enough to even write a well researched response, thanks, all the best,

I Just bought an a Nano 7th gen, printed off the pnline maual and still can't get it to load my existing library onto to it.  I tried reseting the nano and changing computer ports but it still won't load. What do I do ???

    Hey there Ellens1,
It sounds like you are trying to sync your music to your iPod Nano but something is preventing the sync. If you are using the the following process to sync the content:

I would next use the following troubleshooting in the following article to help resolve the issue:

  • Just bought new nano - any suggestions/ tips on setup

After purchasing an iPad 2 weeks ago I am now hooked on Apple and have just bought a new 6th gen nano.  Does any one have any suggestions/ tips before I set it up.  I ask because I know with the iPad  there were a few things that would have helped me prior to setting it up.  It is an 8gb nano.

I don't think there is anything you really need to worry about before setting it up.  However, it might be a good idea to download a copy of the iPod's User Guide.

  • How do I add multiple devices to my account?  I just bought a nano for working outside and don't want to use my phone.

I plugged in a new nano, hoping to use it with my IPhone account.  How do I do this?

iTunes can support multiple iDevices, so you can just connect the nano to your PC, run iTunes, and select the content you want to add to it.  If you configure iTunes to sync using playlists, you can set up different playlists for your iPhone and iPod so that you have complete control over their content.

  • Mac Mini I just bought shows no built-in mic. Is there no mic? How does one do dictation?

My new Mac Mini shows no built-in mic. Pls help ,explain.
I'm using a Samsung display, using HDMI connection from Mini to display.

The Mac Mini never came with a mic. Just like Windows desktop only computer do not come with a mic. Frequently computer that include a screen include a mic as well as a camera. Examples would be PC all in one computers. laptops and iMac desktops.
You can use the headphone/mic units designed for phones.
