I had all of my songs erased. Is there anyway to reinstall.......

The installation software some where else because I lost the CD? Or do you know if you can buy the CD some where?

If you pressed Restore in the iPod updater then that will erase your iPod's hard drive. This is normal and there is no need to reinstall anything. Just plug your iPod into your computer and if it is set to auto update all the songs will be put back on. If it is set to manual update, then drag and drop songs from your iTunes library to the iPod icon in the source window.
The CD contained iTunes and the iPod updater software that was current when you bought the iPod. If you need to you can get the latest versions of each of these on the Apple website.

If the library file is on the external drive, hold <SHIFT> while launching iTunes.  When it prompts to select a library file or create a new one, point it to the location of the library file.
If the library file was on the internal harddrive, easiest solution is to restore it from the backup.  If no backup exists, use File > Add Folder to library.  Also under Edit > Preferences > Advanced, change the library location unless you want iTunes to move the media to the internal drive.

I added a folder accidentally to my iTunes library and now all of the songs are in there twice. I tried to stop the import but it transferred too quickly. How do I delete all those songs without having to click on each one to delete?

Apple's official advice on duplicates is here... HT2905: How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning
to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

The cable carries the same warranty as the device with which it came.  Bring it to Apple.  If  a hardware defect is noted (and not misuse) then the cable will be replaced.

  • I just bought the ipad 2 16gig and wish I had bought the 32...is there anyway to exchange it?

I just bought the iPad2 16gig and I wish I had gotten the 32 gig.  Is it possible for me to exchange it?

If you purchased the iPad directly from Apple, either online or from a retail Apple Store, you have fourteen calendar days from date of purchase to return it. You can then get the higher-capacity model. If you purchased the iPad from a dealer, then that dealer's return/exchange policy, if any, would apply.
    Regards.

For Recently Added, all of my songs were in there. I imported my playlists and most were back to normal. However, the first 13 songs in my Recently Added were the same as before I reset my computer, which I found really odd, so I figured that they were sorted somehow for that to happen--they had to be. The rest of the songs were all of my other songs.
A smart playlist like "Recently Added" is based on the date that a track is added to your library.  Since you erased your computer and re-built your library from scratch, all your tracks are considered "recently added" because iTunes assigned a new date to each song as it was re-added to your library.
Instead of re-building your library from scratch, and re-importing certain playlists you had saved, it might've been better to have simply recovered your "iTunes Library.itl" file.  That is the index that points to where all your song files are, and contains all your playlists, and has properties such as ratings, last played date, and date added.  As long as the native files for your songs are in the same place, you could re-use your "iTunes Library.itl" file if you saved a copy before you erased your computer (always back that file up along with your native files, the .itl file IS your library).
As far as why the Recently Added playlist starts with 13 particular songs, then proceeds with the rest of all your songs in alphabetic order, it is possible that either you (or iTunes) started adding the songs back with the 13 most recent songs you had previously added to your library before it was erased, and once those were added then things proceeded by artist in alphabetical order.  Not sure, but there's really nothing you can do about that other than replace your .itl file with the original version if you still have it somewhere.

  • All of my songs on itunes dissapeared, how do i get them back??

ok one day i had all of my songs. the next day they were all gone. i restored the computer to a couple of days before and it still didnt come back. can you tell me how to get these songs back i did not back them up to a cd or anything, they are permanatley gone. i didnt delete them , they disappeared them self.

    Hi, dnp4567.
Although your iTunes Library display is blank, your song files are probably still on your hard drive.
Have a look at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base for some ideas on how to find them, changing file extensions in the search as is necessary (i.e. .mp3, .m4a or whatever.)
If you don't find the song files, you can stop reading this post now, post back and we can take things from there.
If you find the song files, then something is most likely amiss with your iTunes Library files which are needed for iTunes to know, among other things, the contents of your Music Library and where the files that make it up are located.
If you don't have a back-up copy of the .itl file - which would restore your Library - there are a few options for you to consider:
    1) Search your computer for any and all of the .itl files it contains. Each .itl may contain a completely, or significantly, different library and following the steps described in this article in the Apple Knowledge Base, you can check them and may be able to reconnect iTunes with the particular Library that you're looking for. Close iTunes for a half minute or so before restarting it each time you want to choose a different library file.
At this stage, skip any of the .itl files located in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder ... We'll get back to those, if necessary, in Step 3).
    2) You can rebuild your Library with the procedure outlined in this article in the Apple Knowledge Base.
You will lose some of your playlist related information (playcounts, dates added, dates last played, etc.) - but will retain most of it (ratings, comments, etc.) - with this method. The actual contents of the Library should be up-to-date.
    3) If you don't like the idea of losing the playcounts and such, have a look at this Knowledge Base article for one other option.
Using this method will restore your iTunes Library to the exact state it was in on the date of the most recent .itl file in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder. The drawback is that any changes made since then - songs/playlists added and changes in playcounts, ratings, comments and such - will not be included in the restoration. But it will be easy to add newer songs by following the instructions linked to in Step 4).
    4) One final option is starting all over again with your iTunes Library by by following the instructions in the Add to Library section of this KB article .
This will update iTunes with a list of all the files you add but will not maintain any of your playlists or related information.

    Everyone else,
To reduce the chances of confusion, if that doesn't answer your questions, it would be a good idea for each of you to post a new topic .
