I had firefox on my mac osx. I downloaded 6 and when I check the version it says I have 5. Why?
A box keeps coming up asking me to update to version 6. When I click OK it just keeps searching but never stops searching. I then went to the firefox site and clicked on download 6. Did everything that was asked of me then when I open firefox and click on about firefox it says I have version 5. Why?
Firefox 4 doesn't run on a PowerPC Mac.
Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

I just installed the new firefox for Mac OSX 10.6.8 and when I select an image on a site (right click and copy) and paste in Photoshop 5.5, the image lightens. It does not do this in Safari.Firefox, Safari, and PhotoShop each handle embedded color profiles differently. I am a little confused, you are posting in an iMac forum however your profile only indicates you have a MacPro. While I agree a SMC reset may help please carefully read the link The hatter provided because different Mac's have a different processes for resetting the SMC.
In the mean time you may want to update your profile (Your Stuff in upper right and click Profile) and also please post in the correct forum to avoid confusion. -
My computer was stolen so I deauthorized all computers that had iTunes on them on 10/28/2011. I have a new computer and it was authorized for iTunes. When I checked my account it says I have 2 authorized computers, but this new computer should be the only one. How can I deauthorize whatever the other computer is? I don't want whoever stole my old computer to be able to use my iTunes account.
Get all that music back in itunes and sync again.

The download function is not working....!! I don't use any add-ons like idm or dap,etc.... When I click on something like download a doc,pdf or any such file, the firefox just doesn't respond, and when I checked the download, i.e. cntrl+j, I don't find anything in the downloads... I am currently using Firefox 7.0.1....... Nothing is being downloaded, and I am forced to use IE8 for everything... I even tried re-installing, but doesn't help... I am using Windows 7
TonyE is correct the plugin version comes with Adobe's Reader X.
The failure in communication is two parted:
1. Reader X is not Acrobat (Mozilla Plugin Checker)
2. Acrobat is not mentioned in the Reader X download Page (Adobe)

Firefox 4 on Mac OSX 10.6.7 won't quit when QUIT is selected.
The window closes, but the application remains open necessitating a forced-quit. Until recently it worked fine. I've Downloaded Firefox again and reinstalled but the problem persists.Perform the suggestions mentioned in the following articles:

Hi. I'm in a situation here and would really welcome some guidance. I dragged my ext. HD iTunes backed up folder into my new mac. Now there are duplicates of every song. Both versions seem to actually BE there when I check the info. So, I moved what I thought were duplicates into the trash from iTunes, and resigned myself to the fact that I would have to do this manually for each album. I did this with about 10 albums. I emptied the trash and lost them even though they still LOOKED like they were in iTunes. I repeated the process tonight on a bunch of other albums not realizing yet that I had screwed up terribly the first time. This time I saw what had happened and pulled the files out of the trash, onto my desktop and dragged them back into iTunes, then deleted the duplicate files that had exclamation points next to them. Now I have no idea if iTunes is playing duplicate files from the trash or not, and am nervous about emptying the trash. Anyone dealt with this before? Thank you

when i clicked downloads to install FF into my Apps folder, the FF icon has a circle and slash thru it.
it said it's not supported by this architecture.

There is not much more detail I can give! I have tried unsuccessfully 3 times to download firefox 5.01 for mac os. I appears that I have downloaded it and then when I go into the firefox browser - it still says I don't have the most updated version. It is very frustrating!

also you can try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) and check firefox again.
(If works in Windows Safe mode then you have a problem with other software, like security software or maybe a system driver, that is running on your computer).

My Mac says updates were installed for Keynote, Pages & Numbers, however, the version number shows to be the old version... If check for updates, it's telling me no updates are available...
The old versions are not removed when the new versions are installed. (The updates add features that improve cross-platform editing of files but remove many other features so the install leaves the old version in case the old features are important to you). If you look in your applications folder you should find both versions.

I am using a web application that requires the use of the F7 key. Actually, to be more precise, I need the functionality that you would get on a PC if you hit Ctrl-F7 while in this web application in Firefox. I have changed the Mac's settings to allow standard use of the function keys (rather things like volume up/down, etc.) However, when I try to use Ctrl-F7 it appears to be using the function that is built into Firefox browser rather than the web application running within Firefox. (FYI, nothing happens when I try Cmd-F7 or Alt/Option-F7 either).
Leliforever, cheek you list of installed add-ons, the Ask toolbar can be installed without the users knowledge.

This started when I first set started using Yahoo Messenger. It appears to me that Yahoo messenger is keeping the application firefox.exe open in the background and this prevents the browser from opening. The only thing I can't understand is why the broser will open the first time with Yahoo Messenger running.
