i had folders for some mails, suddenly they disappeared in mail. but theyre still in mobileme. How do i get them again.
Also, i can[t delete emails from mail in my mac. just from that account that i had folders.

Had asked for help with iCloud 3 weeks ago. Cloud has my old email and I no longer know the password, wont't let me sign in with new email. When I talked with apple cust service they assured me that everything associated with apple would change over. NO it did not! Cannot find how to get cloud to change this. Same thing happened to me. My son's iPod touch suddenly started indicating that my "username or PW had changed" or was "incorrect" so I paid Apple $30 to find out that all that was required was updating the software by plugging his iPod into my computer & syncing with iTunes. You are as far as you can be with the original iPad; only iPad 2 and greater will update to 7+

How can I get the default value of a particular preference in FireFox?.
I know I can see the default value for some of the preferences in about:config but, I need a programatic way to get the default value.
I see some that there are values for preferences in firefox.cs but I am not certain that these are being used as the default values for preferences. prefs.js in user's profile only has the updated values and not the default values.
Any help towards acheiving this programtically is greatly appreciated.
If the default values are stored in a file, kindly let me know the format in which it is stored for me to parse it programatically.

Have created other folders/mailboxes and moved many files over to them. Recently they all disappeared, NO MAIL appears. I can see my INBOX mail though!,
Is there a quick fix?

I too had this problem, it happend yesterday around noon. No idea what triggered it, but I know that it is happening to other people, message boards are peppered with strings of postss about this. Restarts and PRAM clearing didn't help me at all, nor did a mailbox rebuild. In other discussoins here, I see information about more techincal solutions, but they intimidate me, worried I will make matters worse.
I have good news to report, but I suspect it won't help everyone who is having this problem. But a few months ago, I bought an Apple Time Capsule and started using Time Machine (TM). It is a totally invisible operation, I more or less forgot that the Time Machine backups were happening, and I never really understood how they work. It turns out it is very easy to use. Well of course it is, Apple designed it!
But I went in to the TM view of my backups, and chose one from mid-morning, which I believe was before the moment when my mailboxes went missing. Since I had my Mail Viewer Window open, TM seemed to know that I was looking for a backup of just that program's data, because it showed a small text box letting me know that it was installing the backup for my inbox. It took a little while, not sure, but at least ten minutes, maybe more, but when I came back to my computer, everything was there, exactly as it had been before the problem. Frankly I do not know if TM replaced other things on my computer with the mid-morning version. After doing a Check Mail, all my incoming mail was in place. The one thing I lost were my Sent mails in the short period between mid-morning and when I did this TM fix.
So my Time Capsule and Time Machine paid off big-time for me yesterday. And now I would recommend that system to anyone who, like me, is not a huge computer geek, but who has huge amounts of data that they depend on.
Of course, for anyone who is suffereing this bizarre problem, and who perhaps doesn't use Time Machine (I didn't until very recently), I hope you find another solution. Maybe looking thru you rmore traditional backup systems and finding a recent backup that you can somehow meld in to your current Mail inbox.

... it will probably show that your email sender and email receiver are both unreachable. If it ever worked before, this is probably not YOUR problem.
Try their WebMail (Use a Web Browser to surf to their Web address and try to pick up your mail from there.)

I want to use my calendar with iCloud for some appointments so they show up on my iphone as well. Some appointsments should just be local on my iPad. How do I do it?

I have an iPhone and my wife has an iPad. We both us the same Apple ID. She now updated her calendar and all her appointments show up on my iPhone as well, which is great cuz of iCloud. But some appointsments are just for her that I don't have to receive on my iPhone.
How is it possible that she can put appointments for both of us in the iCloud calendar, but appointments only for her on her local iPad Calendar and vise versa. Is it possible?

Thanks for your help. Since I'm uninterested in loading all my photos (the only option) into photostream, I won't be able to use the settings in ATV. I guess I'm just stuck with using iPhoto on my MB Air. Thanks again.

If you're using the Notes, go into Settings>iCloud and make sure that you have Notes turned "On".
Notes will then be copied to iCloud and appear on all iOS devices.
This will ensure that your Notes are backed up.

Why are my emails only visible for @ six weeks then they disappear?

Since I installed Lion on my IMAC I have noticed something strange with Mail - all of my emails only appear for about a period of six weeks and then they disappear. Currently I have no emails before 25 February.... I cannot see any setting that specifies this to happens - how can I restore so I see all emails?

They look different because the screens for POP3 and IMAP accounts are different. As I said in my first response, you didn't provide any information about the type of email that you were using in your original post.

It looks like you should be able to choose different line thickness for cell borders, but for some cells you can get three choices (0.5, 1, 2 pt), but in other cases you can only do 0.5?
I can't make a consistent thickness border around the outside of all my cells!

Yes, I have lots of ideas. After all that work you probably don't want to hear them.
1. I would use PDF versions of rotated text boxes, inserted into the cells as background Fill rather than floating the actual text boxes over the table.
2. I would never merge a cell, or divide, a cell. Too many problems await you down the road if you do that. There are many ways in Numbers to avoid having to do those things. These are things we must do in Excel to get by, but we don't have to do them in Numbers.
3. There is a Line Type called "Thin" that has only one size, and another line type shown as a heavier solid for which the weight can be adjusted. It's possible that you have some places where you need to change the line type.
I believe that your difficulty may come from the merging of cells causing some ambiguity as to which border needs to be selected to change the display. This would be a bug, because you should be able to just select the border and edit it, but your table may have become so complex that the program has lost track of things in the course of all your changes.
My suggestion is to print your table just as it is, for reference, and start over in a new document, not an imported one. Don't merge or split. Use multiple simple tables and the occasional text box for annotation. You will be on your way to doing things the "Numbers Way".

Some iCal Subscription Calendars disappeared in iCal, but events still show up?

Here's my situation as simply as possible. I'm on Lion 10.7.4. Some iCal Subscription Calendars disappeared on my iMac iCal, but the events still show up.
1. On iCal on my iMac:
     - I have 10 subscription calendars, but now only 6 show up. --> (Herein lies the issue)
     - Events from the 4 missing calendars still show up.
2. iPhone:
     - has all 10 subscription calendars
     - has all events showing up
3. iPad:
    - has all 10 subscription calendars
     - has all events showing up
Does anyone know of an official workaround for this issue? What is the best approach to handling this issue?

Exact same issue here. Individual events deleted from a recurring appointment continue to show up in Calendar (OS X 10.8.2). Same events do not show up on calendar if viewed via outlook from my desk PC or view outlook web app from anywhere.
Clearly a bug.

If the downloads are stalled or "waiting" - try these suggestions.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

I have multiple application folders for some reason

I have recently upgraded to lion, and i noticed i had duplicate applications. When i looked on my search bar under the title 'applications' six different application folders were seen is this normal?

I have the same problem - I've had it several times since I bought an iMac (27" solid state hard drive) in summer last year.I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. At one point I had Application folders nested to four levels!
These are NOT aliases - I only discovered the problem when my hard drive was running out of space!
I have certainly not done anything to cause this to happen (I am a very experienced Mac user).
Deleting the nested folders has had no ill effects (although I did have problems with emptying the Trash for a while).
Not really a problem, except in that it might be symptomatic of something seriously wrong with the system.
