I had my iPhone replaced in 2011 because of the camera shutter app defect, and the "genius" put in the wrong serial code and after update the phone will not work. What can I do?

I took my iPhone to AT&T after I tried to update to iOS 6 and the phone said I needed to insert the original sim card which was what was in the device. AT&T said to take it to apple because it had to be a software issue. I get to the apple store and they tell me because I replaced my phone because of the defective shutter malfunction the "genius" entered in the wrong serial number by one digit causing the phone to turn into a UK phone and they could not fix it unless I have some sort of reciept or email saying it came from Apple. Mind you this is a year later with a move from TX to HI as well! So what am I able to do?? be out of a phone because they messed up?? They told me I could outright buy a new phone which I am NOT going to do because this phone worked before.

I cant find any reciept in my email or in my husbands email. I am going to attempt to call and speak to someone who can help me because this was not my fault except trying to be normal and update my phone!

Maybe you could give some information. What error? What iP4? What computer system? What version iTunes? What does "lost everything" mean? All iPhone 4 are under warranty, take to Apple Store they will always help you.

When you set up a voicemail redirection, usually you have to remove that redirection from the account that redirected it. Like Google Voice, if you activate Google Voice to receive your voicemail, you will have to log into voice.google.com to turn it off. If you contact your carrier, they can tell you exactly what program has taken over your voicemail functionality just in case you are stuck, but if you know the name of that App, I'm sure you will be able to figure it out. Hope this helps you out.

I Have the same issue. my phone worked until I updated to v8 software on iphone 5. Now it won't pick up contacts and I cannot make a hands free call while driving. I have an iphone 4S and it has been doing crazy things like typing on its own. IT's like someone is shadowing my phone. Also, the left side of the phone keys get frozen, any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. More than likely a failing display. You can try restoring it to see if that helps, but you'll probably have to have the phone replaced. make an appointment at the genius bar.

This is either hardware or software if you held down the power and home button 10-20 seconds and restarted it with no progress I would try to connect to iTunes and factory factory reset it. If this doesn't work it's time to a talk to apple or a respectable repair agent or b pony up for the new one I hope this helps . P.s. Your phone has entered recovery mode. You will need to connect it to a computer with iTunes and restore it to factory settings. Hopefully you have a backup (either iTunes or iCloud) to restore from.

I agree with JimHdk but I will guess at this one. If you have an internet connection (you can get email) but Safari is not responding...
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear history, cookies and cache. Restart the iPad. Hold down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and slide to shut off. Hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and then let go of the button to power up again.
Then try safari again.

I get a white apple on the screen. can't reset phone - doesn't work. what can I do besides take phone into Apple? This *****! I realize (now from reading internet) that my phone/system may be uncompatible. Help!

I have a 3GS (a true classic design!) and have upgraded it to 6.1 today. The process did not go without a glitch - it took a few attempts to get the app's to sync but after detecting the ones causing an issue and deleting them it works - so far! I have had issues about 50% of the numerous times a new OS is uploaded to this phone and always take the new OS with trepidation. But at least you know there is a 3GS with 6.1 working OK.
I suggest you do a fresh restart to the phone several times - without it being connected to the computer - to see if it gets its act together and starts. I think it will. Hold down the top 'power' button and front round control button until it shuts down - goes blank and dead. Then press the top power button to re-activate - reboot - it.
If that does not work then plug into your itunes computer, navigate in iTunes to see your iPhone and hopefully you will be able to sync it or at least 'restore iPhone' from the 'summary' tab.
If you can not get onto the iphone perhaps you will still be able to sync if in iTunes by going - 'file' - 'devices' - 'sync iphone' or failing that try transfer purchases' and ultimately 'restore from back-up'.
I had technical problems with my old 3GS (suffered a failed wireless antenna) so I took it to an Apple Store and they issued me with a service-replacement/reconditioned phone for a very modest charge. So if worst come to the worst get a new phone that way!
