I had to clear myhard drive - now my ipod won't sync

So, I got a virus on my pc and had to wipe everything out.
I reloaded itunes, but now when I hook up my ipod, i have only two options - erase the music on my ipod and sync with what's on my computer or simply cancel and not sync anything.
I don't want to lose all the music that's on my ipod, as I had to erase it off my pc - how can i get my itunes to recognize me as the same user?????

If somebody knows how, tell us please,i have the exact same problem!!!

  • Had to erase hard drive, now pages docs won't open

I had an issue with my Mac and had to erase my hard drive, and start from scratch.  I sent my essential pages documents via e-mail, and re-downloaded them, then re-downloaded pages, but now the documents won't open, with no explanation given.

JPS3, if by any reason there was a problen while uploading the file, I think there is nothing that can be done. Now, if the problem was downloading, you can try redownloading the file again and give it a try.
Any chances you have a copy on iCloud? (sometimes I hit save superfast without knowing it was save at iCloud).
Is this file created in the same version of the Pages you downloaded? or  is it older?
I know that its no good for this case, but next time I recommend you use sites like Box, Dropbox or iCloud.
Hope you can recover your files.

  • I downloaded the latest update on my MacBook Pro. Now I keep getting a pop-up that iCloud wants my password from an email login I haven't had in a year. Now the calendar won't sync with my iPhone5.

I downloaded the latest update on my MacBook Pro last week. Now I keep getting a pop-up that iCloud wants my password from an email login I haven't had in a year. I can't find where to delete that email login.  iCloud is also showing my new email login, plus a bogus one I accidentally created trying to fix this problem. Now the calendar on my MacBook Pro won't sync with my iPhone5.

It sounds like you have the Find my iphone Activation lock for sure. Go to www.icloud.com/find and see if you put in that Apple ID that is coming up and yoru password to see if you are able to sign into the account that way to turn it off. If you are unable to, you will have to contact AppleCare by phone (chat cannot handle account lock outs or forgotten password due to not being able to verify your identity) and see if they can reset it. And are you sure the Apple ID that is coming up yours?

  • Re-formatted hard drive, now I-Pod won't sync with new itunes

So, I transferred all my music via a flash drive and then reinstalled them into i-tunes (per the directions on i-tunes) once we re-formatted our computer. All the songs show up in tunes, except now when I buy music, it won't sync with my i-pod. It's an ancient i-pod (click wheel) but other than that it works fine. Any help?

    Hello darkerstill,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Have you re-authorized your computer? To do this, head to the Store drop down menu and choose "Authorize Computer." Then enter in your account credentials to authorize the account.
If you have already done that, have you restored the iPod via iTunes yet? If you haven't, you will not allowed to sync new music until you have done so because your iPod is still associating itself with your old library that was wiped out.
Here are instructions on how to restore your iPod if need be.

  • My daughter set up her own itunes acct (got off of mine) and now her ipod won't sync stuff on her ipod to her new acct...does anyone know what to do?

My daughter set up her own itunes account (removed her device from my acct) and now her ipod touch won't sync with her new itunes account.  Does anyone know what to do?

Who (which ccount) purchased the stuff?
To sync items purchased with your iTunes acount the iPod has to be signed into your iTunes account (Settings>Store to signout and in)

  • I had to reinstall iTunes and now my iPad won't sync.

I tried to upgrade with 11.1.4 and everything go messed up (Windows 7 user).  I ended up going back to a later version of data on my computer.  Then I was able to reinstall iTunes.  My iPhone is syncing like it should, but my iPad won't sync.  I've lost the App Sore icon and others.  Not sure what to do.  I refreshed my iPad but nothing is working.

attach a screenshot of the error unless that's all of the error message.
if it is, Troubleshoot install using logs | Elements

  • ITunes Library lost, "new" one created, but now my iPod won't sync. HELP!!

My brother had been messing around on my computer, and something happened to iTunes. At first, it wouldn't open at all. The only way I could access it was to hunt through my files in my MacHD. When it finally opened, there was NOTHING in it! I managed to find my songs, and load them back into the library, but now, it won't let my sync my iPod. The message "The iPod "Kayla's iPod" is in use by another user on this computer." I tried to find/restore this 'other' library/user, but the only iTune file that opens is then new one. How can I access and sync my iPod through the new library?? Please help!

The only solution I can think of apart having computer administrative privileges and switching users to strictly use your brothers iTunes Library would be to reset your iPod. Maybe that will deauthorize your brother's Library enabling you to start from scratch.
If you haven't already, try this http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705
If that works, you're going to need this application http://ipoddisk.ourbiti.com/ to transfer any music not purchsed from the iTunes Store from your iPod to your iMac.

  • I have one of the original IPOD's and just tried adding a bunch of songs, (200) and now that they're on my computer my ipod won't sync as it now says i need about 8.45 more gb. any thoughts on this?

I have one  of the oriignal IPOD's circo 2006.  I've got about 150 tunes on it which has been fine but today tried to add another 200 or so and was advised I need about 848 MB to load them.  Is there any solution.  I have 2 playlists.  One with the original 150 tunes and one with the addiitional 200 tunes. Thoughts as now my IPOD won't sync at all and I don't want to delete any of the songs if I don't have to.

How much storage on the IPOD  -  I have one that has 60GB on it.   Also have an IPOD shuffle that held less songs.
As your IPOD does not have enough storage for all of your songs, you have to create a list to sync to it that does not exceed the storage size.
For instance my IPOD shuffle had its only list of songs that did not exceed storage.
The IPOD gets them all because I only loaded the songs from my CDs that I really liked into ITUNES - leaving out the ones I skipped over.

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

I have the same problem and I am very upset. I have heard that Apple/iTunes is removing all songs that are unlicened for this type of download. Apple does not want to be responsible for pirated music. Much of mine is down loaded from CD's.  I have to go to search and put in every song and then, if found,  put it into My Music then back into iTunes.  WHAT A HASSLE. I don't remeber reading anything about this. 224 songs so far.  NOT HAPPY.

  • I recently restored my iPad and had a film on it, now when I go to sync the film cannot be found. how do i recover the film without purchasing it again?

I recently restored my iPad and had a film on it, now when I go to sync the film cannot be found. how do i recover the film without purchasing it again?

You can't recover it withou buying it again. You should be backing up purchased films in iTunes on your computer. iCloud does not work with purchased films. Apple does not have the rights from the movie studios to allow for them to let you download it again for free.

  • ITunes opened another library, now iPod won't sync

I have a Dell laptop with iTunes installed on it, and an iPod touch 5th gen. with the most recent software update. But Windows just recently had an update and so I updated the software of my laptop and iTunes continued to work fine. But just a few days ago I turn my computer off and the the next day turn it back on in an attempt to sync my iPod but when I plug my iPod into the computer before I open iTunes, the iPod makes it open automatically and the terms and services agreement pops up. And I'm thinking why is this here again b/c I haven't updated iTunes or anything but i know it won't open unless I agree, so I agree. (But oddly, I think it said "save" instead.) So I click whatever it says (save or agree, I can't really remember) and iTunes opens but it's an older version of my library.
All my most recent songs are gone, and my iPod won't sync b/c it's not being recognized by iTunes. (When I started syncing this iPod with this computer I had to make it start over completely and erase all data to make it forget my old computer.) But now that it's the wrong iTunes library, it won't sync anymore. :/
I don't want to have to erase all my data again...But why did it do this? I've tried to go through and make it open the other libraries (holding shift and clicking on iTunes to tell it to open another library), but I can't find the most recent one. I'm assuming the library is still there on the computer but I can't find it, but I didn't delete anything and iTunes never warned me of any issues, so the library has to still be on the computer some where. I tried closing iTunes and reopening it but that didn't work, neither did turning the computer off and turning it back on.
    How can I fix it?
Sidenote: all my songs were consolidated to that particular library. (If that matters.) And my iPod still seems to be working fine.

I had the same problem on my iphone 5s, and this fixed it. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5335
