I've done the transfer files thing... I've also authorized my computer to play the files.
I can see my list of songs, I just can't hear them through the computer. The individual songs aren't click able.

I really don't want to lose all of the music I have on my ipod touch. It worked fine with my ipod and my old laptop but I got a new laptop and now it doesn't want to sync anything except purchases I made on the ipod and everything that was in the cloud. You would have to purchase a 3rd party program ( not supported by Apple).
The ipod is not a storage/backup device.
Copy everything from the old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.

See this post for options on moving your iPod data back to your computer.
iTunes itself won't help you, other than for purchases, but if everything is properly tagged and you're not bothered about playlists you can recover most things with Windows Explorer, then get iTunes to reorganize what has been recovered. Otherwise there are free tools as well as premium ones.

Hello can some one assit me please. I have purchased a new lap top and copied my old itunes files accross so i do not loose all my music, and have to start again. I can play and see allof my tunes and play these. However I am unable to access the Itunes store through my itunes files. It will not interface at all. I can access itunes store through the Web, but not through the my ituntes file. I have gone in and authorised the laptop through the various process. Highly frustrated already paided a computer person to fix this. However hed deleated all files and started again he had it work and then I turned computer on again and it will not interface from the itune file to itunes, So if I copy a CD it will not tell you the name of the track. I cannot asscess the itunes store to action anything. Please assit me

I am not an expert, but assuming that you have a Windows or Mac folder with music in it and want to move that to a new laptop, I think you have to import it into iTunes. iTunes needs to associate each file with a link, so copying it over will not associate a link.
Delete the files and try importing.

There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. There is a very direct method, which I personally prefer, but there are also numerous third party applications, which will help you accomplish the task as well. It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipad- without syncing : File>Transfer Purchases
In some countries you can redownload some itunes content.
