I had to replace my hard drive and memory on my laptop. Couldn't de-authorize because the computer was corrupted but now I have two authorized computers but it's the same laptop. How do I get my old iTunes library back?
Basically I want the library from my old memory drive, which was authorized on my "first" computer. If I de-authorize both computers (even if it's really the same laptop, different hard drive) can I get library from both? How does this work? Help!
The apps that you had will be listed in your purchase history if you login to your account in iTunes on your computer - the list isn't very user friendly though as it's listed by date order and will include all app updates that you've downloaded (so an app will appear multiple times if you've downloaded it's updates). You can re-download apps, though it's a manual process as you need to find them yourself in the app store : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519 .
If the apps are in your iTunes library then the restore might work - a backup contains app data/settings, but not the app itself, so without the app available to it the restore can't install the app and therefore it's content.

I accidentally synced my mum's brand new iPad to my mac book air. A few days later I realised that my iTune library on my mac is completely gone. So is my iPhone 4s after I synced it with my mac. How do I get my old iTunes library back? I tried using icloud on my iphone but it stated that I have never back up my phone before. So I guess my iCloud data is gone too? But I have back up my mac in my harddrive using time machine. So how do I get my old itune library back? Please help! Thanks!
1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer. -
How do I get an old iTunes library back?
Last winter I was trying to create a new library and somehow lost the one I use daily. I ended up just totally rebuilding my itunes library by using a program that lets you put songs from you ipod to your computer. Now all of a sudden almost 6 months later i turn on my computer and get ready to back up my itunes library and my old one is back and the one I had rebuilt and improved is gone. My newer songs and playlists are all gone. I dont know what is going on. Its making me mad. I do not want to have to rebuild it all again. I didn't get to back up my library... I was going to today. I just figured out how to.
Hold down the option key while starting iTunes. Select the library you want to use.

How can I get my old itunes library back on a new computer when I lost my old computer
I had iTunes on my old computer and the programming was messed up and I lost my itunes. I now have a new computer and I want to restore all the music I previously bought, as it was quite a lot
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer, you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:

To all:
I recently upgraded my computer from Windows XP to Windows 7. Now my Itunes library is no longer available? When I try to sync my IPod or Iphone 4 to ITunes, it states that the content on my devices belong to another Itunes Library and do I want to transfer purchases, erase etc?
How do I get my old Itunes Library back? Some of my music are from CD's I own and really don't want to start the years of building my Itunes library all over again?
How do I bring all the contents: contacts, music, apps etc from my Iphone4 back to Itunes?
Confused. The ipod/iphone/ipad are not backup sotrage devices.
Certainly you did not upgrade your computer without making sure that your backup copy of your computer was up to date. Just use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back. -
I recently had to replace my hard drive and lost my iTunes library. When I try to transfer the content from my iPod to iTunes on the new hard drive (same computer), it would only let me transfer iTunes store purchases. How can I complete the transfer of all the content on the iPod back onto the computer?

Where do I get the specially assigned serial number????? I don't want to have to purchase anything since I already bought the CS2 and I don't need a newer version.
Follow the prompts at the link provided by Ned.
Everything's there including your new CS2 non-activation download file and your new non-activation serial number.
It's free for existing owners of CS and CS2. Nothing more to purchase. -
How do I retrieve my purchased songs and playlists from my iTunes account? I have just had to replace my hard drive and have lost pretty much everything!
You can redownload your iTunes store purchases, but you'll need a backup to recover the playlists.

I had to replace my hard drive and can't get my Photoshop CS2 9.0.2 to activate. I have tried both the phone and the website and have both the serial numbers. I can't find a number that works to speak to a live person at Adobe. I need to reduce the pixel size TODAY on some photos and need the program. Is there another way to reduce pixels if I can't get my Photoshop running today?

I had to replace my hard drive and now when I plug in my iPad, itunes says it is synced with another library
That is because the iPad can only "sync" to one iTunes library at a time. You can move all of the iPad contents into a new iTunes library. This discussion will give you a lot of useful information.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3305461
This one is Mac specific - not that it is any different except for the iTunes menu.

Remember to authorize the computer in iTunes first - From the iTunes menu go to Store>Authorize this computer. -
How do I get my old iTunes library onto my new laptop? My old laptop is broken but all media is on my phone. Most of the songs are from CD's which I no longer have. HELP!
That is not necessarily true. You are allowed to make a back-up of media you own and, at least in the Netherlands, even a copy of a work you've borrowed from a library. The law expressly permits this and you pay a certain amount for recordable media to allow for home use. See http://www.thuiskopie.nl/nl for this. If you then decide to destroy the media, i.e. do not transfer the media to someone else, I don't see how you infringe copyright by keeping the back-up. But I guess some so-called creatives like the idea of making money in all kinds of hypothetical ways...
It is a nice dream, where you have to work once and then earn a lot of money by selling millions of copies from your work. But buyers can make copies too!! Hahahahahaha! -
I purchased elements 9 for iMac as a paid download 10/23/2015, recently I had to replace my computer's hard drive and lost elements. I had read that downloaded purchases would be available for 3 years but, when I click onto the serial number of that order it isn't active. By clicking onto the link it should take me to the site where I can re download the elements 9 but, it doesn't do anything. Unfortunately calling Adobe did not help, they will not address any elements questions over the phone, there's a recording directing all elements questions to this forum. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Diana

Had to replace my hard drive and now I can't update iPhoto.
(Originally posted this question in the MacBook Pro community but it might do better here.)
When I try to through the App Store I get this message: To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it.
I submitted this to the App Store help email (or whatever it's called) and was sent an answer that wasn't helpful at all. I replied to the "if this doesn't work..." but haven't heard back. Anyone else have a solution?
I'm running 10.8.2. So I seem to be up to date. And I have been able to update everything else (such as iTunes yestereday). It's only iPhoto that won't let me update and gives me the above message.Yes, it is much better to post here for this issue than the other communities.
iTS email I think you are referring to...
iTunes Store Support
http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
If their answer wasn't helpful, mind posting it here so I can verify?
Generally, when you have your HD replaced, you are going to run into this problem. However, I am suspecting about all your other apps being alright. As this issue should also effect iMovie and GB as well, thought maybe you are using them.
There is a good chance you'll have to correspond with iTS on this again, and they may eventually grant credits since it's unlikely pulling adoption plists is going to work here. -
Computer Crashed. Can I still get my old iTunes library back?
Basically, my last laptop crashed and I had to buy a new one. I do not own an iPod or anything of that nature. I didn't back any of my music files up. Is there any way I can receive my old library?
No backup?
