I had to replace my hard drive in my iMac iSight and now I need to load an os all I have is my windows laptop any help?
I just had to replace the hard drive on my iMac iSight G5 and now I have no os and have no idea where my restore discs are i was wondering if I purchased an os from apple if there is a way I can load it onto dvd then load my iMac
You can contact Apple at 800-767-2775, give them your serial number (under the foot of your iMac) and they will, for a small fee, send you the install disc. Then buy a black retail OS from Apple or eBay.

as the old hard drive failed completely. CAn I use my Back up copy to upload the OS to my granddaughter's HD>
I think She had the same OS! snow leopard. thought not sure if it was just Leopard only being a student guess she was strapped for cash to buy SL.
I cannot find any discs for Leopard.
I know I downloaded SL when I bought it so no disc for that.
She needs this for Uni and other stuff as she has no other form of entertainment in her rented house. No Tv or anything.;-(
I don't want to do anything illegal.
thanksIf you upgraded to SL, you did so by disk...there is no download. You have no choice but to find your original Install disk or the SL retail disk. If your backup is a Time Machine backup, you can't boot from that, but once you reinstall OS X, you can use that to restore. If you can't find your disks, you'll have to call AppleCare & get replacements, or find a retail SL disk.

I just replaced the hard drive on my Pavilion dv4 and now my screen wont turn on.
Ok so my original hard drive in my HP Pavilion dv4 shot craps last week so I bought a new WD 500 gig for it. Prior to removing the old drive and installing the new drive my screen would light up and work properly. Now that I have replaced the drive my computer seems to be booting up but my screen does nothing but stay completely black. I know my drive is installed correctly and I'm pretty sure I haven't jarred ne thing loose in the process of changing out the drive because I only opened up the hard drive compartment to do the swap, which was extremely simple. I also was sure to remove the battery, unplug, and ground out ne static electricity before doing ne work on my computer. Im at a loss for what to try to get my computer back in working order. Ne suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
CaseyThanks for ur quick reply to my problem. I tried all of that with no results... I did notice tho that the lights next to and above my caps lock key and my num lk key are now flashing. They flash in unison three times then there is a two second pause then they flash three more times and this repeats. They may have been doing this before I tried this solution but I did not take notice until now... I was also wondering how I am supposed to know, after pressing f10 to enter bios, how I can tell if my new drive is being detected when my monitor will not function? Was pressing f10 supposed to possibly make the monitor turn on? In a last ditch effort to try and further identify the problem, I re installed my old drive. Before replacing it my computer would begin to boot then display a hard error that would not allow me to continue booting and run Windows. My display would still work but I could not run Windows. After re installing the drive the monitor will not turn on. I'm beginning to think that I have a bad monitor. Is there a way of testing this with out buying one? Where does the monitor connect to the mother board? I wonder if maybe its been jarred loose, although I highly doubt it, it may still be worth looking at. Thanks again for your advice.

How do I Get my library back on I tunes? I had to replace my hard drive.
I had to replace the hard drive of my macbook. Now when I open itunes, it is completely empty! is there anyway to get my music back or atleast the music I purchased from itunes? I can access my account it shows record of my purchases, but my library is completely empty.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back. -

I am trying to re-install Creative Suite 5.5 Design Standard on my Widows 7 Professional computer after I had to replace the hard drive. I keep getting error message and I get "Exit Code 15: Media DB Sync failed". I have run C Cleaner with same results. Have Disabled UAC and Startup items and Services with no success. Please help - frustrated to no end. Can someone help me?
make sure you're using the adobe cleaner, not crap cleaner, Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
copy the installation files to a desktop folder and install from there. -
I recently had to replace my hard drive and lost my iTunes library. When I try to transfer the content from my iPod to iTunes on the new hard drive (same computer), it would only let me transfer iTunes store purchases. How can I complete the transfer of all the content on the iPod back onto the computer?

Where do I get the specially assigned serial number????? I don't want to have to purchase anything since I already bought the CS2 and I don't need a newer version.
Follow the prompts at the link provided by Ned.
Everything's there including your new CS2 non-activation download file and your new non-activation serial number.
It's free for existing owners of CS and CS2. Nothing more to purchase. -
I had to replace the hard drive in my old MacBook. I replaced it. Installed OSX10.6. Then using the system software I reinstalled data from my Time Machine backup. On completion it asked for my password. It is not accepted. I am locked out how I overcome this?
I was already using 10.7. But only had the disc for 10.6.Sorry I am new to this. Am I in the right area? I am using my iPhone to make contact. I am worried.

So, this past week I had a lot of problems with my computer and had to replace my hard drive. Doing so, meant that I lost all my files, pictures, Word, Power Point, and Lightroom 5.0 which I just got in December. Right now, I just am downloading the Cloud, and it says that Lightroom is downloading. I hope that it will be on my computer and all good but Im really not sure if I'm doing the right thing. I tried calling customer service TWICE yesterday, got put on hold both times, once for 25 minutes the other for 32 minutes. I was dumb. BUT if you are able to help me get Lightroom back on to my computer that would be wonderful. If I am already on the right path and just have to wait for it to finish downloading that woohoo!!
Thanks,

I had to replace my hard drive twice in my power mac g5. Luckily, I had the foresight to install a backup drive the second time around. Has anybody had HD problems? Is it the Power Mac or I just lucked out on some bad drives.
Hi Leon,
There are many well known G5 problems, but being hard on Hard Drives is not one of them.
How old & what brand/model drives were they? -
I had to replace the hard drive on my laptop due to a total hard drive failure. Is there a way to transfer all my music (non purchased) and play lists back to the new drive?
- Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
- Transfer other music by using a thirdparty program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
- Macke a backup of the iPOd by connecting the iPod to the computer and right clicking one the iPOd under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup
I do not think the playlists will be restored. -

I had to replace my hard drive and can't get my Photoshop CS2 9.0.2 to activate. I have tried both the phone and the website and have both the serial numbers. I can't find a number that works to speak to a live person at Adobe. I need to reduce the pixel size TODAY on some photos and need the program. Is there another way to reduce pixels if I can't get my Photoshop running today?

I've had trouble with my Macbook since the first month I bought it. I've replaced the hard drive 3 to 4 times. Now some programs won't work or shut off by itself. Is it possible to ask for a complete exchange of products?
This may help you: http://store.apple.com/us/help/returns_refund
It would appear that you can ask for an exchange but it doesn't specify any time frame... Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can add to this.
By the way, if you've replaced the drive so many times, perhaps there's something else going on elsewhere.
