I had to replace my hard drive twice in my power mac g5. Luckily, I had the foresight to install a backup drive the second time around. Has anybody had HD problems? Is it the Power Mac or I just lucked out on some bad drives.

There are many well known G5 problems, but being hard on Hard Drives is not one of them.
How old & what brand/model drives were they?

Strange that your dealer could not help.
When my car was in for its 6 month service in July/August I mentioned this problem to the dealer service dept (Northway Honda, Bundoora, Vic)
The person booking the car in told me an update to the software was needed and that they would do the update.
I don't know if it was free as there was no specific listing of a software update on the invoice - just a lot of item numbers.

Since getting laptop repaired I have been trying to sync my iphone with the new hard drive but it will not allow me to do this without first wanting to wipe the phone clean and put info on the hard drive onto the phone, of course there is no info on the hard drive at all. i recently had to replace my hard drive on my mac, and i copied my applications across to my external drive. i currently subscribe to creative cloud, and with the new drive in and working, i have copied my applications back across. But... my PS and Br are not working. I can't even 'uninstall'. Your urgent assistance would be much appreciated as i waited for over 50mins on the phone to speak to someone and i just got some music to listen to.

Copying the application is not the correct way to reinstall Adobe applications.
I would advise you to download and install the applications from creative cloud.

I'm unclear on what the problem is. Have you installed a system on the new hard drive, and if so, what system? Had you actually installed Mountain Lion previously, or only downloaded it? And what does "it only wants to upgrade" mean? Have you actually got Mountain Lion already installed? (See About This Mac in the Apple menu.)
All Macs that shipped with Lion or newer are capable of internet recovery in situations like this. Just hold down command-R and it should start in recovery mode over the internet if necessary. You can reinstall the system from there. If you had Mountain Lion, I would assume that Mountain Lion would be the system you would get reinstalling that way.

So, this past week I had a lot of problems with my computer and had to replace my hard drive. Doing so, meant that I lost all my files, pictures, Word, Power Point, and Lightroom 5.0 which I just got in December. Right now, I just am downloading the Cloud, and it says that Lightroom is downloading. I hope that it will be on my computer and all good but Im really not sure if I'm doing the right thing. I tried calling customer service TWICE yesterday, got put on hold both times, once for 25 minutes the other for 32 minutes. I was dumb. BUT if you are able to help me get Lightroom back on to my computer that would be wonderful. If I am already on the right path and just have to wait for it to finish downloading that woohoo!!

You can redownload your iTunes store purchases, but you'll need a backup to recover the playlists.

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

Replacement System Discs can be obtained from Apple's Customer Support - US (800) 767-2775 for a nominal fee. You'll need to have the model and serial number of your Mac available.

Or you can purchase the applications from an Apple retail outlet, App Store or the Apple online store.

Yes, all you iTunes data are on the old drive. Get an external enclosure in which you may install the old drive in order to connect it to your computer and copy your iTunes data to your new drive.
Everything is on your old drive unless you copied it to the new drive.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
