My nephew got my phone yest and was watching you tube videos. When I got it back, he had somehow gotten it onto voice control. I was able to get it
off of Voice Control, but then my Icons all had a square around them and it was necessary for my to double click anything I wanted to get into.
I called the support and was advised that I would need to do the current update and back up my phone. Well of course I could not restore the backup I made, but I
wanted to restore the backup prior to this. Number one I can't find it. Number two, If I find it, I cant find the contact. Anyone elese ever had this to happen?

iTunes only keeps one backup, every new backup replaces the old one, only backups used to restore from are not overwritten and marked with a time stamp.
If you can't find any other backup in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices, your contact info's are gone. Only if you included the backup folder in your computer backup routine, you would be able to restore the old backup folder containing the latest backup at that time.

Yes. However, the backup file does not necessarily contain everything on your device (music, some purchases, some photos) so you want to make sure all items are backed up and transferred for safekeeping first.

Activation issues are almost always the result of a device that has been hacked or jailbroken.

Whenever I plug my iphone 3GS into my windows PC I have no problem syncing and backing up my apps etc but whenever I plug it into my new macbook pro, it simply cannot read my device at all and everything is fully updated. Help please. Thank you
I cannot recall the DVD player ever being a place to "store" videos - it is simply an app to play videos.
If your machine is new, then iMovie should be included as the "shrunk" version of iLife is included with Lion (iMovie, Garageband, and iPhoto). However, iMovie is not a place to store videos either - it is a video editor. You import your clips and edit them in order to then burn to a DVD or share via a social media site.
Have you considered simply dragging the clips to your folder "Movies"? That would be a great place to just store them (please be aware that videos are usually large files, so keep your hard drive space in mind so you keep a minimum free and available for the OS to operate properly): -

Look... I don't have my crystal ball handy. I don't know how or if you had your backup set up. You don't adequately describe what you're missing. Stating that "All I am left with is the content I had before I upgraded to iOS" doesn't tell me anything at all... When did you upgrade? Apparently, you had a backup from that time, and when you restored, you restored from that backup. If you had no other backups in between then and now, then anything since that time is gone. Permanently.

If you have a corporate Exchange account set up on the phone, the administrators can requre encrypted backups. Try the password for your Exchange account.

I had a similar issue with my Daughter's 3GS - I tried restoring it with "Restore Mode" and it would not do it. A quick search led me to MacRumors.com where I found an article on restoring your device via DFU Mode. It takes awhile to do it, but it definitely fixed my issue.

Can't restore my iPhone 3GS (w/iOS5); backup session failed.
I'm practically at wits end, here.
For two days I've been trying to restore my iPhone 3GS and so far, nothing.
The problem happened after I downloaded and updated my iPhone with iOS5. When I tried to restore it from one of three back-ups that I had, I ran into
that error (-50). Managed to get passed that and tried again. When I did, I get the message saying "iTunes could not restore the iPhone ****** because the backup session failed."
It doesn't just do this for my most recent back up; it does this for ALL of my back-ups. Is there any kind of fix out sure-fix for this (barring getting a new phone)?! I think I've tried several strats that I've seen in other threads and nothing has worked.
(btw, the comp that I'm using primarily is Windows Vista)*update* GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE! Turns out that I was able to restore my phone from a back up, after two days at it!
Unfortunately, the back up was from a year ago! At this point in time, I'm just glad to have my contacts back, though I feel that now would be be best to make sure I keep backing up my phone to make sure this doesn't happen again o.O -
Restoring my iPhone 3GS.... Why wont it turn back on? I'm going insane!
So I just tried to restore my iPhone 3Gs for like the umteenth billion time it gets all the way to end of the factory restore and restarts well at least its supposed to. But when it shuts down to restart it never turns back on and the only way to get it to turn back on is to hold down the home and power buttons at the same time the problem is that just puts it back into restore mode ant its just frozen there ive done this about six times and the apple care on the phone has expired. what can i do? ahas anyone ever had this problem? or can somebody please tell me how to fix it? im pretty sure im not doing anything wrong i followed the instruction like it was high school test im just not sure what to do!
Sounds like a hardware failure. Bring your phone to Apple for evaluation.

No, it does not. It transfers purchases from the iDevice to the computer. The computer must be authorized for the Apple ID that the content was acquired with.

Im trying to restore my iphone 3GS as i am giving it to my dad. When I hit the restore button when connected to my PC and itunes it takes me to my documents folder and asks for a filename. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
