I had to update my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 version. When I let it finish, it said my phone wasn't compatible?
I had to update my iPhone 4 to the new iOS 5 version, so I did. When I plugged my phone into iTunes and let download complete, it said my phone could not be restored and it wasn't eligible for the required build. Why did it do that, and did my phone say to update, when my Macbook won't let me update?

I have the exact same problem. I did the update on my iPhone 5 yesterday, opted for the iCloud set up in the update and then it wiped my contacts. They are not on my phone or in the cloud...

I just updated my iphone 4S to ios 8.1; when I try to text only part of the screen rotates
I just updated my work iphone 4s to iOS 8.1 and now find that I can't successfully text in lanscape. the dialog box rotates, the keyboard opens, but is obstructed by the signal strength inidicator and is basically unusable since it closes the dialog if you try to type with any letters along the far left of the keyboard, the text history remains in Protrait orientation. any suggestions?
Have you tried Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings?

I updated my iPhone 4S with ios 7 and it wont let me send emails.
After I updated my iPhone, it wouldn't let me send emails. I keep getting a message that says "The conection to the outgoing server "smtp.gmail.com" failed. Additional Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars. I tried turning on/off the different server options, but nothing has worked. Help!

iOS updates can take a while, try back in an hour or so. My iPad took half an hour for an incremental update. And that was on a fast home WiFi.

How can I retrieve photos when it says my cloud and iTunes backups are empty or not backed up?
When I tried to update my iPhone 5s to iOS 8.1, I was forced to choose to restore or back up. Back up wasn't working so I had no choice but to restore. I lost pictures over the last two years. When I tried my cloud, there was nothing. I would get notifications that my cloud was full, but I thought there would at least be some photos in there. When I tried to restore a back up, it said the last time was two years ago. I thought when you're on wifi, it automatically backs up. I've charged my iPhone into my Macbook a bunch of times, so something should have backed up. Is there any hope for my photos?Sorry no backup - no pictures.
Yes phone will automatically backup to icloud when on wifi and phone is charge, but your phone storage was full so it stop backing up.

I just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 7.1. The apps I had previously installed are not showing on the screen. They are located in App Store icon. How do I move the icons so they are showing on the screen.
You can move apps around in iOS 7 the same as iOS 6. Press an app icon until you see it wiggle; then drag it to where ever you want it to be. Drag it onto another app to create a folder with the two apps. Tap the Home button to stop the wiggle.

I have had to update my iphone 4 in itunes and it has now come up with a message, itunes has found a iphone in recovery and needs to restore it.
I dont want to do this as I cannot loose all my pics on my phone!

Please help!!Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone begins to start, try this a few times if necessary. If still problem, you may have to just Restore your iPhone to get it working. In the future sync your iPhone with iTunes routinely and when it contains important data, iCloud when set correctly will do this for you continuously.

Hey you all, I have recently updated me iPhone 5 to iOS 7.1 and I checked my reminders built in app, and it seems like everything I had in there was lost. I have tried many things, but none seems to work. I can no longer add in any remainders.
Have you failed to regularly backup the device to iTunes or iCloud? If so, the data is gone.
If there are backups, restore the most current one from prior to the data disappearing. -
Hello, i really need help. I had just updated my iphone 3gs to i.o.s. 6.0.1, and after I updated, it won't activate.I tried it in itunes and it always says " We cannot activate your iphone at this time..." and when I activate using Wi-Fi, it says, "Your iPhone cannot be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable." I could swear that my Wi-Fi is fine, and my Itunes is on the latest version. Is this a bad thing or does this normally occurs? Can I still fix this ? I'm so desperate to use my iphone cause I use it everyday for personal purposes. I sure would appreciate any tip or help . PLSSSS ! Thank you for that wonderful being that can help.
Do not take it to a third party repair shop - downgrading causes problems and voids your warranty.
I had to unlock it so that i could really use it as a phone.
And that is the root of the problem. Unless you had your carrier unlock it, it was hacked and cannot be legitimately activated. Even if you don't care about warranty or problems, downgrading simply will not help an activation issue.
