I HATE iTunes to my guts!!!!!!!!!!!!! :[

For a company that advertise ease of use, acompany that trumpet user friendliness, , the iTunes is a biggest piece of junk! Worse than any Windows apps I had used!  The UI is confusing which leads to a very, very bad UX. Among many bugs, my imported CDs keeps diisapering from my library and the worst thing is I spent $15.00 on a Bach album awhile ago just to find out today that it isn't in my iTunes Library. I searched for the album, it clearly states that it was purchased but I kept getting the preview page with only excerpts. I went to Apple's own iTunes  support site, the instruction is very unclear. Could someone please help me? Thanks in advance.
Needless to say, I am using the latest iTunes 11..2.2
Here is the full instruction:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store
You can download many types of content previously purchased from the iTunes Store to your devices andauthorized computers. This way, you can add items to your devices and computers without having to sync or copy files. It’s also useful if your iTunes files are lost or deleted for any reason.
Previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer on the iTunes Store.
Note:   Some types of previously purchased content might not be available in some countries.
Download previous iTunes Store purchases to an authorized computer
Click iTunes Store near the top of the iTunes window.----------------------------------------------------------------------WHERE  IS THIS?
Click the Purchased link at the right of the iTunes Store homepage (below Quick Links).-------------------------WHERE IS THIS LINK?
In the page that appears, select a category.iTunes shows you which of your purchases are available for download. You can view all of your past purchases, or just the ones not currently in your iTunes library. Items already in your library aren’t available for download. If you select Music, you can view your purchases by song, artist, or album. If you’re viewing by album, click an album to see which songs on it are available for downloading. To search for an item, type its name or a keyword in the search field, and then press the Return key to view your search results.
To download an item, click its Download button .To download all available items, click Download All.
You can also download previously purchased music, movies, and TV shows by clicking the Download button next to an item in your iTunes library.
To hide previous purchases you haven’t downloaded yet, choose View > Hide Music in the Cloud. This also hides any iTunes Match songs you haven’t downloaded.
You can download previous purchases on a total of up to ten devices and computers, combined. You can authorize up to five computers at a time with an Apple ID.
To find out how to download previous purchases to your iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad, see the documentation for your device.

I hate iTunes 11 too... and I also want to revert to previous version. But Apple seems to be so incredibly customer-friendly these days that is quite deliberately not publishing clear/simple revert instructions. I think it's a disgrace that Apple removed Cover Flow without warning people who are tempted to upgrade. Absolute disgrace. And now we're stuck with this piece of ..

  • How do I get my old Itunes back? I HATE Itunes 11

I liked the old version of Itunes better, I HATE Itunes 11     HOW DO I REVERT TO THE OLD ONE?  HELP and not lose my music library

To roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the installer from here, uninstall iTunes. Probably best to also remove other suppporting software, e.g. Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support & Bonjour. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

I have the same problem.   It's showing old podcasts that are available for download and I already watched and I don't want to see them again and I don't want them listed in my iTunes.  This latest upgrade is a piece of junk so far.   It destroyed my itunes podcast listing on my Windows Machine.   I have no intentions of upgrading to iOS7 or my Mac until I hear that things are fixed.

  • I hate iTunes.  It continues to download HD versions of movies when I tell it not to.  The movie I want is 4.4 gigs.  I have deleted all my apps and half my songs and still don't have enough space.  iTunes is near impossible to navigate.

I have downloaded Oblivion six times and it continues to bring the HD version.  I have unchecked the "Download HD when available" but I continue to get a file that is 4.4 gigs large.
    I hate iTunes.

You purchased the HD version, not the regular version.  It will continue to download the version you bought.  If you want the SD version you have to shell out for it.  Apple doesn't do returns.
Watch your movie.  You can always put other stuff back on later, especially music.

  • I Hate iTunes. Seriously. So much.

[Edit: This is more of a iTunes for Macintosh Problem then a windows problem. Windows works perfectly =)]
I wanted to work on my friend's laptop while i listened to music on my iPod, but my iPod was dead, so i decided i would plug in my iPod and let it charge on his Apple laptop while i used omnigraffle pro to do some work for EA.
Long story short, iTunes F*ing booted up when i plugged in my iPod and updated my iPod with his non-existant music library on the laptop i was using. All my music - gone -
I'll explain further if you enjoy reading.
Now i KNOW that iTunes is notorious for doing this(i've had some close calls in the past), so before i plugged in my iPod i checked in the preferences to see if i could turn off auto-update before plugging in my ipod (My friend has the latest version of iTunes, version 7.2. I think the layout is ugly buggy. I use the old version 6 becuase it works and simple). Alas, there were no such options that i could find, and i looked multiple times. I know on the windows version that i use, you can "Manually update songs and playlists" through the preferences tab.
So then i asked my brother, and since we both use the windows version, he's like "ya it should ask you before it tries to update anything when you plugged it in, so dont worry", and i plugged in my ipod.
iTunes reads the iPod, it begins to say, "UPDATING IPOD- DO NOT DISCONNECT", and im like hmmmmk. Thats normal? The whole thing took about 5 seconds.
Then i try to play my music, which it has listed, but every single song has gone AWOL on my iPod, and it just endlessly cycles through every song on my ipod.
Im now in the process of putting all my music library back onto my ipod, but there is a lot of music from my old computer that was on my iPod that is not on my new computer, which i use right now. There is also a lot of music i created which is gone. =(
So i guess, in other words, i really hate iTunes. I hate it for being so dumbed down that i cant do something as simple as change how my iPod is updated. I hate it for making me waste a lot of my time with this.
i just wanted everyone to be aware of this!

I think because you had set the iPod to manually manage, it didn't ask when plugged into the Mac.
There are several ways to prevent it though (this should work on both Windows and Mac):
    1) Kill the iTunes Helper application before connecting the iPod.
    2) Open iTunes and open the preferences dialog. This blocks the update from occurring.

  • I HATE Itunes 11 !! ..Please go back to the previous version !!!!!, I HATE Itunes 11 !! ..Please go back to the previous version !!!!!

I can't do stuff right on iTunes 11.
Each time I do a update in a song/movie/series , he updates the WHOLE library, and takes me back to letter A of artists in Music ..
and I have to scroll allllll the way down to where I was.
Every once in a while, he just mixes up all my Unwatched movies and series, and the episode I JUST DOWNLOADES appears as watched....
That a very crappy new software !! please go back to the previous version .....

Most likely the issue is something in your Firefox profile is not fully compatible with Firefox 4. You might find that the problem persists after reverting to Firefox 3.6, but you can try it.
Here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
    Close Firefox 4.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!

  • Hate Itunes 11...here's how to go back to 10.7...

Ok...THIS WORKS AND IT"S REALLY, REALLY SIMPLE!! No need to go to risky operations or fiddle too much under the hood, as suggested by some.
Note, this only works in this order...and if you have a recent Time Machine backup.
    1. Backup your Itunes folder  (I had no problems with this, but always better safe than sorry!).
    2. Downlaod Itunes 10.7 from here: http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg . Don't open it, just leave it in your downlaods folder.
    2. Enter Time Machine. Go to your last backup and click on the 'Applications' folder. Find Itunes. Click on restore. Enter your admistrator password, if neccessary. This won't replace it but for some reason, it allows you to install 10.7.
    3. Install Itunes 10.7
    4. When you try and open it, Itunes will say it can't acsess your libabry becase "Itunes Libary.itl was created by a newer version of Itunes". Quit Itunes.
    5. Go back into Time Machine and go into, not your last backup, but the one before that (i.e. two back from today). Go into Your name / Music / Itunes. Select "Itunes Libary.itl". Click on restore.
    ...That's ot!
    HAPPYY DAAAYS...no more ITUNES 11!!

Sorry that previous link has been changed but here is how to do it..
That is the only quick fix for the problem at this time since Apple hasn't gotten off it's butt and done anything about this. (The other option is to re-encode all of the non-iTunes videos that do not play correctly)
You can download the 1.0 firmware update from:
    http://appldnld.m7z.net/content.info.apple.com/iPod/ww/win/061-2225.20051128.PDW nw/iPodSetup.exe
Open the ipod from the My Computer Window
open this file with notepad (make sure you are displaying hidden folders and files): \iPod_Control\Device\SysInfo
Replace the line that has the word "buildID" with this line:
    buildID: 0x05108000 (6.1)
Save the file and close it.
Run the iPod update file you downloaded and when you finish your iPod will be back to firmware 1.0! Unfortunately every time you dock your****in the future you have to remember to click cancel when it asks you if you want to update your iPod to the new firmware (1.1).

  • My ipod HATES itunes

Everytime I connect my iPod to my PC it erases all my iTunes. They're still in my iTune library, just not on my iPod. Usually I'll update iTunes or restart my comp and that'll work. But still, this is absolute bull.
The funny thing is, I could steal all the music I wanted and be able to play that, it's just the stuff I payed for on iTunes I can't use. I guess apple is trying to tell me something.
    Any thoughts?

    Trevor,
    Welcome to the discussions.
You're not making much sense. You say <cite> Everytime I connect my iPod to my PC it erases all my iTunes. They're still in my iTune library, just not on my iPod.</cite>
How can you have iTunes erased, but still have the songs in your library? Please clarify and maybe someone could help.

  • Love the iPod, hate iTunes, Help?

I've got the 30GB Ipod Photo and I am about ready to give up on ITunes, it just does not meet my needs.
Is there any other way of maintaining my music & pictures on the IPOD?
I want to be able to sync up new podcasts while I am away from home, my IPod is 30GB and my Laptop is 20GB, so putting the whole media library on the laptop is not an option. My media library does not change often and I have it stored on desktops at home.
I don't use playlists, I just have directories of music, that I have invested hundreds of hours ripping to MP3. Do I really have to create playlists? I generally listen to entire albums at a time.
Sorry for the negativity, I have been struggling for a while trying to get used to iTunes, very unsuccessfully.

    hiya!
there are various windows-based third party packages that might work for you, but i don't have a lot of experience with them. (TBird is good at this, but i haven't seen him/her around much lately.)
it may be worth checking in over at ilounge or ipod garage forums for testimonials for and discussion of the other packages.

  • I used to hate ITunes

Since switching to OSX I've been stuck with nothing to use other than ITunes and I could not really get to like it but a few days ago I forced myself and sat down with it, imported my entire MP3 collection and let it munch away on it. My collection of MP3's stems back about 17 years and has grown to 465Gb in size containing about 120,000+ files. It took ITunes a full day to import all the files and to sort them into folders, subfolders etc and even though it took long it did not skip a heartbeat. I later discovered it was so slow because the drive containing my MP3's was still in NTFS format.
I spent the last day moving everything off the drive to a backup drive then converted the internal drive to HFS+ and voila it's lightning fast now.
What I am really impressed by is the way Itunes took such a massive collection and resorted it into folders by Artist/Album.
I then used the Display Duplicates function which, with a lot of manual checking, helped me to reduce my collection by 30,000 files all of which were either duplicates or triplicates.
For the first time in a really long time I can actually see some light with regards to sorting out my very messy collection of music and I must say there is a lot more under the hood of ITunes than I ever knew was there.
The sorting functions and ease of manipulating the Metadata of mp3's has helped me to do some mass sorting of my collection and I'm pretty sure within a few weeks I will have, for the first time in many years, have full control over my music collection.

  • Help - mini hates iTunes v6

Problem first appeared with my old computer. Mini is approx 14 mos. old and when I downloaded the itunes 6 in February, I kept on getting an error message saying that Quicktime is out of date and download the new one (which was supposed to be included in iTunes 6. Nothing would work so I removed the v6 and reinstalled by old version. All worked fine until the computer died.
New computer - reinstalled the ipod software included the old version of iTunes and ran the updater. After putting about 150 songs on the mini, I connected it and it overwrote my 500+ song old library so all was well until I ran into an error that said I needed to update to the new iTunes v6 for my purchased music to download to the mini. Against my better judgment, I did and while the iTunes 6 recognizes my mini, it will not copy the library or the folders to the mini itself. Basically, all it will do is charge.
I haven't seen this problem on the forum but sure wish someone could help. Otherwise, I'm stuck with the old version and most of my music but not the purchased music.
    IBM Pentium   Windows XP

    hi Kathy!
while the iTunes 6 recognizes my mini, it will not copy the library or the folders to the mini itself.
are you getting an error message when you try to sync? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.
or is it more like the ipod appears to sync properly, but when you disconnect, no songs are there on the ipod?
or is something else going on? if so, could you describe it to us? err on the side of too much detail rather than too little.
    love, b

  • TS1702 Why cant i permanently delete an app from my iPad? I hate iTunes and do not use it unless forced to!!

I bought an app today that doesnt function as advertised. My iPad does not sync to a computer. I do not use iTunes unless forced to. Is there a way to delete an app from my iPad directly? Also, why can't I delete permanently something from iTunes??

To delete an app directly on your iPad, press and hold any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. You can't delete any of the Apple built-in apps e.g. Music, App Store, Game Centre etc. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'
As to why you can't currently permanently delete something from your account then it's because Apple don't yet allow us to (possibly because people would then accidentally delete things and they wouldn't then be able to re-download them for free) - you can hide previous purchases from your purchase history to make them less visible (and it's only fairly recently that we've been able to do that) : hiding and unhiding.
