I hate Mountain Lion! How do I get rid of menus?

I was hoping I'd get the Mac Book Pro with Lion, and I could wait for Mt Lion til it had a few upgrades of debugging.
I have a mail program problem that I have up here already.  BUT
how do you unenable these little menus/options that pop up all the time?  I don't use them.  I am just putting in a cursor to add something, correct a spelling, move something, bold something and these menus pop up that won't go away. I click and click and click and it takes forever to get them to go away so I can do what I want to do. Before on previous OS, once in awhile those menus would pop up and I would click to the side and they'd go away, and I'd go back to what I wanted to do.  Now these menus just won't go away. Keeps insisting I am going to use them or I'm not going to progress. A lot of times it isn't even items I want to do.
I just want to put the cursor in a spot and make a correction....I probably have put years of clicking on this brand new laptop already!
Hopefully someone can tell me how to disable them.  I'm ready to throw the computer in the garbage!

sorry it's taken so long to get back to you.  I've gotten the Kindle 'bug' and trying to get a book online by Oct!
ok, this is one of them. I found that if the top of the Safari screen, particularly, is too close to the Tool bar, it picks up the toolbar and won't let me do anything.  When I finally pulled it down away from there, then it got it out of the toolbar 'zone', but I'm used to putting the window(?) up right to the tool bar to utilize the whole computer screen. That was one issue.
I was trying to get birthdays off of IMDB, so I would go up, and normally click on the url, insert at the date, backspace, put in next date, and 'return' and it would go to the next page.  When I would do this with the new laptop, it would give me yet another type of menu (of course it won't do it now) and I couldn't get it to go away and let me just insert cursor and change date.  I had to click outside the spot about 10 times and try it again before I outwitted it and it gave up. On every url for EVERY page for 30 days or more. Must have aged the laptop a couple of years!  Before, well a) I never use these 'helpful pull downs" or whatever they are, but on the IMac or the MacBook before, when they came up, I'd just click off to the side - they would go away, stay gone and let me do I want to do.  Basically, I want to insert cursor and make a correction or insert something, and it insists I'm going to do it its way, making me click in 2-3 steps rather than a click or double click as I did before. . So many things on Mt Lion wants to click sequentially in 2-3 different steps on these 'menus', rather than just click on the word or insertion point. A lot of times the menus don't even refer to what I'm doing if I did use them.
ok let's see if I can put another one in the same.
I just want to disable them.  As the computer is 'breaking in' now doesn't seem to be doing it as much, but just as I think it is, then they pop up incessantly again.
This is another type - I might just want to change spelling, or delete....just want to insert cursor and be left alone, and it comes up with all this.  Maybe some people like it. I don't want to click any more times than I have to. don't want to go from menu to sub menu to sub menu, when I don't want any of it to begin with, or I can do it myself from the top where I'm familiar with it all with the program itself..
Thanks.

iOS devices require iOS 6. It is kind of misleading for Apple to be advertising those features right now but they will be there when iOS 6 is released.

  • Mountain Lion *****/ How may I get back to Lion

Mountain Lion is less than a good Apple OS. Is it possible to revert back to Lion??? It has messed up mail and my system has become very slow.

Mountain Lion brought my 2009 iMac down to a crawl, I have tried to cope with it for many months now, and I cannot come to a stable speed. I have done pretty much any suggestion from all forums (beside downgrading)
Please do not dismiss me, I am an ex-Apple employee and an ex-IBM-er, I have so many certifications and so much experience in CPU performance analysis and Network traffic optimization than the average users.
My diagnostic is there is something in the new code that does not deal well with one of the two: swap memory file, or network access (maybe even chaching), specially (but not limited to) using wireless
Lion was not good either, becuse it overworked the disk access and made the machine warmer in general.
So, to make my late-2009 iMac work well again, I may have to install Snow Leopard.
For anyone reading this, if you have the same issues with Mountain Lion, you better go back all the way to Snow Leopard
I can see Apple is suffering a lot since the loss of Steve

  • I'm Done With Lion - How Do I Get Rid Of It?

I want to go back to Snow Leopard.  I downloaded Lion from the App Store.  How do I delete the entire Lion OS off my iMac and restore to Snow Leopard, which I DO have on a disc?  I know I will have to back up any files I want to keep because this will completely erase my hard drive, and I'm ok with that.  There's a bunch of junk on my computer that this will get rid of, and that's a plus.
If there's a site that explains how to do this, could you direct me to it, please?
If not, could you please give me step-by-step directions for the process?
    Thanks

    Backup your data.
Boot from your Snow Leopard DVD by pressing and holding 'C' when you hear the startup chime.
Go into Disk Utilities, select your HD that Lion was on and erase it.
After Lion is erased, install Snow Leopard.

  • I hate icloud! How can i get rid of it and go back to only downloading movies to my pc and NOT to ICLOUD!!! grrrrr

hi guys.... i hate icloud! i dont even remember setting it up! i dont want to use it. i just want to download movies and tv programmes to my PC and not to Icloud which it keeps doing. someone just help me!!! thank you

You can download your movies and tv shows to your iTunes library (depending on your location) as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.
What you are seeing is "iTunes in the Cloud", which is a separate service that allows you to download previously purchased media from the iTunes and App store.  This does not require setting up an iCloud account so it's likely you don't have one.  (If you don't want to see this previously purchased media available for download in your iTunes library, you can open iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Store and uncheck "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases".)

  • How do I get rid of a crsor that looks like a hand from a cartoon?

This hand has just appeared and I hate it. How can I get rid of it and go back to my regular mac cursor?

It's a mouse pointer. Interestingly, it disappeared when I powered down my system and re-started the next day and still hasn't returned.
So the problem seems to have been resolved.

  • How do I get rid of Yahoo sidebar?

How do I get rid of Yahoo? When Firefox starts up Yahoo is the home page and I hate it. How do I get rid of it?

    Got this fixed.
I deleted Yahoo as a search engine.
To do this: on the right hand side of a toolbar there is a pull down menu which contains "manage search engines". Select this and remove "Yahoo".
BTW: the "Tools" - "Options" - "remove hardware acceleration.. " did not work.

  • How can I edit iCal server addresses in Mountain Lion? I keep getting an error with regards to my google calendar and I understand that the way to fix the problem is adjust the server address, but I cannot access it because the preferences are restrictive

How can I edit iCal server addresses in Mountain Lion?
I keep getting an error message with my google calendar, and I heard that if I delete the extra slash at the end of the address the problem will be fixed. But the iCal account preferences take me to system preferences > accounts every time I want to edit the account.
Does anyone know where I can edit the server address?

You should ask in the iCloud forum, this is for iMacs. https://discussions.apple.com/community/icloud/icloud_on_my_mac

  • Hve downloaded OS Mountain Lion but still  appears as a needing downloading in the apps purchases yet it is downloaded how do I get rid of it?

I have downloaded OS Mountain Lion which was successful but going inot apps it still appears as requiring downloading but when I press to do this i am informed that download has been completed and so to cancel. How or why does this icon remain in the apps purchases and how should i get rid of it?

It stays in your purchased apps list because you bought it from the MAS. The most likely reason it offers to be "downloaded" (it's not that it needs to be downloaded, it is that is can be downloaded) is because you installed the OS X upgrade, which deletes the installer from the HDD. This is normal behavior.
